Herbert A. Gilbert filed the first patent for a smokeless non-tobacco cigarette in 1963, which was granted in 1965. The patent was for a device that vaporized flavored liquid to create a vapor that could be inhaled.
CORRELATION DOES NOT MEAN CAUSATION. People who become strongly addicted to nicotine likely have addictive traits that can lead to adverse outcomes. Every single one of your grandparents smoked as a teen get real.
Stop….just stop
*Stop vaping ;)
I packed Copenhagen for 12 years before this came out. Switched to On because its half the cost
Would you be interested in a video explaining why some tobacco products cost less than other?
@DCSmokeFree I'm guessing it has to do with lobbying and taxes but yeah that actually sounds interesting
Me hitting my vape as i'm watching it
vape is bad for your lung
Haha, multitasking at its finest! 😄 Just remember, your lungs might not be as entertained as you are!
Explain then.
There’s substantial evidence that e-cigarettes are harmful to our health. They can lead to addiction, lung disease, and exposure to harmful chemicals like heavy metals. While vaping may be slightly less harmful for those who already smoke, it’s definitely not waaay better. The safest options remain quitting completely or using proven cessation tools like nicotine patches. What’s especially concerning is that many young people are now vaping even though they’ve never smoked before, creating a new problem of nicotine addiction. Dr. Stanton Glantz explains more in our podcast, where he highlights research showing vaping could be 80-90% as harmful as smoking.
Doctors disagree with you tho. It still isn’t good for you, but it is better than smoking.
Vaping may be slightly less harmful than smoking, but it's definitely not waaay better. There's a common misconception, especially among youth, that "better for you" means "safe." Vaping anything into our lungs is harmful. Check out our podcast interview with Dr. Stanton Glantz, where he explains new research suggesting vaping is 80-90% as harmful as smoking. You can find the video here: ruclips.net/video/C4rxXUAlUkg/видео.htmlsi=v47H-jiLZ7pHARJH
Proof ? Yeah figured you didn't have none
There is substantial evidence that e-cigarettes pose serious health risks, including addiction, lung disease, and exposure to harmful substances like heavy metals. While vaping might be a slightly better alternative for those already smoking cigarettes, it’s certainly not waaay better. The safest options remain quitting entirely or using proven cessation methods like nicotine patches. A growing concern is that many young people are now taking up vaping and nicotine use without ever having smoked cigarettes, which is creating a new problem rather than solving an existing one. This trend is contributing to a new wave of nicotine addiction especially among youth.
For vaping facts go looking for professor David Abrahams! The facts and truth.
These vapes have hooked a significantly larger audience to nicotine use than traditional cigarettes ever could. I've noticed students and individuals I never imagined would start smoke carrying these devices. It’s clear that the tobacco industry is adept at generating a new wave of consumers.
You’re absolutely right! The rise of vaping has drawn in a whole new audience, many of whom never would have started with traditional cigarettes. It’s alarming how quickly the tobacco industry has adapted, making these devices so appealing and accessible, especially to younger generations. This makes our work in prevention and education more crucial than ever!
@@DCSmokeFreein America smoking in teens is almost gone and vaping is 60% down. Look at the cdc data. So not a gateway to smoking and vapes isn't so addictive. Thats a scientific fact. Look for the facts to the Uk.
@williamJohanns436 The claim that vaping is down by 60% is not accurate in Douglas County. We conducted a comprehensive survey of our middle schools with an 88% response rate, and the data clearly shows that vaping among students is actually increasing. This local data contrasts with the national trend reported by the CDC. While it is true that cigarette smoking has declined, vaping and other nicotine products are on the rise among youth in our area. Regarding nicotine, it's important to note that it is highly addictive-one of the most addictive chemicals. This is a well-established scientific fact, and it’s evident in how difficult it is for people to quit. Many students I’ve spoken with who use these products express regret, saying they wish they had never started. These products aren't designed to help smokers quit; they’re aimed at getting a new generation hooked, particularly through flavors and appealing designs. The tobacco industry has a long history of targeting youth, and vaping is no exception. While trends may differ across countries like the UK, it's crucial to look at local data and recognize the very real issue we’re facing here.
It has been in cigarettes for a long time why wouldn't they figure out how to get you to vape it!?
Its crazy! They even add a chemical called diacetyl, despite its buttery taste, diacetyl is known to cause significant lung damage!
MrFog is the best brand
And that’s why you shouldn’t do it! Me don’t wanna die
Ill take 2000 over the 7000 that cigarettes have
None is even better!
& wayclear?
Thats an interesting perspective! Some studies suggest vaping may be harder to quit because taking a hit is much easier vs having to go outside and smoke a cigarette so folks generally vape more frequently throughout the day, which equates to more nicotine per day with vaping vs traditional cigarettes.
Vaping shit I’m glad I quit last month before my 17th birthday
Good for you man
Congratulations @ambosdead quitting is super hard! Roughly only 3% of people can quit on their first attempt and that’s with a quit class!
Vapings shit. I started smoking cigs last year when I was 15 and a few months on I was going through a pack a day easy so I thought y not vapings prolly better and that was the worst decision in my life. My lungs felt f*ck3d and I was going through a crystal bar a day so I decide a few weeks ago to try NRT and I couldn’t get anything strong enough to satisfy the craving so I swapped out to 12.5 mg nicopods (bacci free snus), equivalent to a cigarette with the nicotine content just so and started with 14 a day and I’ve cut down to about 3 on most days now if I carry on I should be done with them too in a week or so. Don’t start smoking or vaping you’ll soon have a monkey on your back banging symbols together and it ain’t worth it. If you’ve started already there’s people out there who’ll help you quit and organizations you can contact if need be. Stay safe people and don’t put this shit in your lungs. As for all the nittys out there who think it’s cool or some bs or are too weak to do something to change don’t waste ur time looking for a bite in the comments I’ve got better things to do then waste my time responding to your pathetic attention grabs.
I would say it’s not better but vaping is easier to quit with the different nicotine amounts and smoking burns so it is hot going down which is hard to replicate in one of those fake vape sticks where no smoke comes out
We all have our own journey! :)
Wish it still only cost $310 😅
