This is considered to be dreadful…. Why no “auto-tune” or other type of fake A.I. current day technologies? There aren’t flashy costumes, set design, pyrotechnics and dozens of scantly clad models pretending to be talented musicians. How can this be allowed or even tolerated in 2023? Seriously… EXCELLENT JOB !! You have an incredible voice and are accompanied by yet another talented musician. When you are blessed with such gifts, it would be an awful shame to “enhance” your work with “trickery tech”. I came for a CompacTenna antenna review follow up and discovered some outstanding music. Seeing the desire for transmit testing in the comments and indications that such is coming soon, it will be exciting for many to see a follow-up video after the great job Harold did in putting this one together. We all experience signal degradation in NLOS (Non-Line-Of-Sight) stationary and traveling locations/areas whether in a valley, behind a building, even more so being in the inner city, and frequently in otherwise null-spots/areas due to multipath and polarization shifts. This video already demonstrated on 2-Meters (VHF) receive in the tunnel at the 2 minute mark that the large competitor loses all audio (right speaker) and signal (green signal bar lost), while the COMPACtenna maintains. Flutter reduction with 'increased reliable range' is a much appreciated and valuable attribute.

Ok, I will buy one. I want small and this thing delivers rather similar performance to a pain in the butt 38" whip.

Ham Radio Concepts just came out with a video on this antenna.

70cm was really, really close. 2m (at least per the S meter) not bad, but certainly not as good as the 38” whip. But for only 7” tall, a perfectly acceptable compromise for someone who just cannot have an antenna more than 5x as tall. I would buy one for sure if I was in that situation. But this begs the question. How does it stack up against a good 1/4 wave? Seems like that would be a closer comparison, especially since a 1/4 wave is a far cheaper, closer in length option. Like in a previous comment here, would love to see transmission testing. Especially simplex.

Excellent video - except for the fact you didn’t test its 220 capabilities.

I know it's been a while, but did you or would you consider doing a test of the compactenna vs std quarter wave. I have an SUV and trying to overcome garage door height limitations and wonder if the $100 is worth it over a simple quarter wave. Its a permanent mount in the center of the roof and very difficult to access especially in sloppy winter weather. Was there more or less difference on UHF vs VHF?

I sure would like to see a transmission test.

Thanks for putting this together! I've been in the market for a triband antenna and have been eyeing the COMPACtenna for a couple days now. Recently picked up a triband radio so my dualband Diamond NR72BNMO needs to get swapped out. Only hurdle has been trying to find something of roughly the same size to replace it with and the low profile market for triband antennas is pretty small. I think this thing seems to fit the bill perfectly, though. I just put in an order with HRO, I'll report back with my thoughts as soon as I get to test it out. Thanks again!

I think the interesting thing here is that the significantly smaller antenna performed as well or nearly as well as the longer one. It doesn't have to be outperform the traditional antenna. Rather it has to be comparable performance in a smaller package. That's it's value.

Great test! I know this video is older, any new insight since then? Getting ready to purchase one as a backup.
