    I just rolled over 155k yesterday in my e90 m3. And within the last 4 months (140kish miles) (literally EVERYTHING went out/broke basically at the same time. 4 months is close enough period of time imo…. Thermostat,valve covers, coolant expansion tank all started leaking. Windshield washer tank was leaking when I got the car…. Bank 1 TA is giving me faults on its way out, pre cat 02 sensor, low pressure fuel sensor, map sensor, vacuum leak (hopefully it’s just the fuel tank breather valve) but idk it’s giving symptoms of injectors sticking sometimes, or coil pack…. Either way I need to replace plugs,coils, and hopefully not an injector. Brake light came on and i reset it and it changed from yellow to red when i did that so I need to do pads and sensors, and about 3-4 weeks ago I got the dreaded cowbell noise…. So center support bearing/guibos… and I pray to god I don’t have to replace driveshaft as well bc they’re not cheap…. So recap: at about 140k miles literally everything went out about the same time. More shit than what the car cost. I’ve been slowly repairing one thing at a time bc I don’t have 15k or possibly more put back to fix it all at once. I’m damn near thinking of getting rid of it and getting something newer with less miles and less problems.

But I’m just in a predicament atm bc the money in parts alone much less shop labor to install them is enough to buy either of the other 2 cars. Granted they’d be high mileage at around 20k but still… do I keep dumping money into it or just cut my losses for now and get rid of it and get one of the other ones ya know?… and if I did go that route I’m well aware that buying a higher mileage one could have just as many problems as what I’ve got now there’s always that possibility.

    Trying to decide between a 170k mile e90 m3 and a 100k mile single turbo 335 right now both at the same price. Have you driven a 335 before? I’ve never driven any M car and I used to have a fully built 135 with lsd, solid subframe bushings etc… and i always felt like it was lacking precise steering feel, high speed stability, and just overall it didn’t give me confidence when driving. curious to hear your thoughts on if real M cars are actually that much better?

    • @brockmoorea14
      @brockmoorea14 Месяц назад

      Honestly I wouldn't go for the 335I. I would do the E90 M3. I have driven plenty of 335s they are cool but nothing I would want to personally own. The main reason I would steer you away from the single turbo 335I is because you are banking on someone else work done correctly. Also at the end of the day it will always be a 335i. Even with the higher mileage the E90 will continue to appreciate and as long as you maintain it well. Then it will treat you right for a long time. Now I will say part for part everything on a M3 is going to be more(coil packs, injectors, spark plugs, brake rotors ect) so be prepared to spend around 30% more for maintenance items compared to the 335I. E9X M3 are great and have a special driving character because of all the monoball factory bushings and more aggressive LSD unit in the bigger diff housing. plus a S65 V8 revving to 8k is a lot of fun.

    • @ldhofann1
      @ldhofann1 Месяц назад

      You won’t like the low end tq on the m3 vs the 135. I came from a stage three n54 335xi. The m3 is hands down a different experience and won’t be as fast as the turbo cars, however the m3 is the better car and more engaging. Ripping a v8 to 8400 rpm’s with that sound is glorious. Your tq starts at 4000 rpm’s so it wants to be driving to achieve that power.

    The suspension is the same. Same springs, same shocks, same parts number. Look it up. The Comp is heavier therefore feels different. There is no M2 Base. It never existed. The M2 was for sale 2016 to 2018. The M2 Comp replaced it in showrooms as the 'Base' model as you say then CS was released. The M2 is 1 " shorter and about 150lb lighter. Has nicer alloys, sounds better, has a visually nore pleasing rear exhaust box. M2 comp pulls better above 80mph, sounds worse due to 2nd turbo and unequal exhaust pipe lengths, has better seats, has carbon vs steel front brace, has different grille and more aggresive front bumper.

    • @brockmoorea14
      @brockmoorea14 Месяц назад

      I called the 16-18 M2 base/OG it has multiple names because it is the base level or original recipe as you will of the F87 series. It had the N55 single turbo engine, base 2 series seats, smaller F80 based calipers, different facia ect. The 19-21 F87 comp or CS had the F80 S55 twin turbo engine, larger brake package, F80 seats, different front facia ect. The CS is a CS gets the random special bits that BMW Always does on a CS. This video was to show the difference between the OG/BASE M2 and the M2 Competition Trim/Models. You are correct the physical suspension components of the of the M2,M2 Comp have the same springs and dampers. The CS model got the F80/82/83 EDC dampers but continued to use the same M2/M2 comp spring rates, BMW did try different dampers and spring rates on the M2 Comp but they never made it into the production car. The word track I used in the video was probably misleading I apologize. They did change the complete suspension and steering calibration along with some minor diff settings( probably some tighter shims on preload for the slip unit). Carbon brace is probably not much help the S55 weight difference is what changed the some of the driving character of the competition vs OG . The larger kidney grills and different facia of the M2 Comp is for the S55 cooling. Both are cool cars if I had to pick on I would still go with the Base/OG for a fun track car and the N55 driving character. Thanks for the comments the more we all can learn and improve the better.

    Always change the rod bearings in these with BE Bearings, oil analysis hasn't been a blueprint to study the bearing condition. Yes it'll show certain metal levels but it IS NOT a predictor to bearing failure thru the years! Been on bimmerpost for years and it's not a scare tactic. Some people have had a failure even with perfect readings! Just something for viewers to think about!

      M2 comps have a much better resell value than the f80. Air to air intercooler conversion fixes the cooling and heat soak issue for track days. I’d take an m2 comp, and daily an f30 335. But I own a 14 335 and have a 135 sittin on ice

      @@brockmoorea14 Yeah I’d love an f80 M4C personally, 50 more hp than the comp and a nicer cabin. The M2C is a better car than the OG but not the direction the M2 was meant to go in imo, it’s meant to be a 1M successor and the OG does a decent job at that (aside from the steering). If I was tuning for big power I’d go s55 all the way but the M4 chassis just feels a lot more stable at 500+ hp and is better suited motor to that car. The M2CS is the proper M2C imo as it addressed the weight and actually revised the suspension beyond just software.

  • @TrevForPresident

    I'd have to go comp for the s55. The first m2 having the n55 continued the tradition of the 1m coupe having the n54, but with a true m engine available in the same chassis, I'm going to swing for it.

    • @brockmoorea14

      Don't blame you, if I truly had the choice I would take a comp with the S55 hands down. But I also like the idea of running a Base M2 with just downpipe and tune. Then lapping the hell out of it haha

      @alfyer5 Месяц назад

      Your car has to have a 2010.5 or newer manufacturing date which would include the combox. If it’s older than that then you don’t get Bluetooth audio streaming. Just get a mr12volt. Don’t bother retrofitting.

      @@ZRVN06 personally I wouldn't change the bearings. If you are scared about them and that could influence a decision. But I've built enough engines I'm not comfortable just slapping bearings in something. I would rather pull it apart have the crank polished, line bore checked and rods checked for out of round. Then if it passed bearing size selection for clearance and re assembly. Long store sort there's a lot more to putting bearings in a car especially with age and mileage everything wears together.
