They had so much better chemistry. They had so much more in common, like how often did we see Serena and Dan actually talk about mutual interests and challenge each others view on those very interests, they challenged each other but in an unhealthy way, it was more like fighting. Whereas Dan and Blair when they challenged each other it ended up opening up thoughts, ideas and perspectives they never thought of before. They also obviously had the same drive, they just went about it differently.
