Israel was chosen not as a favorite but as a vessel to eventually bless all nations-a point reiterated in God’s promises to Abraham: that through him, all nations of the earth would be blessed (Genesis 12:3). In the New Testament, Christians believe that Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection signify the fulfillment of God’s promise to bless all nations through a single family line. In becoming human through a miraculous birth, God didn’t defile Mary but rather honored her as a chosen vessel, treating her with dignity and respect. This act symbolizes that God’s love transcends ethnic boundaries, inviting everyone-Jew and Gentile alike-into a personal relationship with Him. As for the response to Jesus within his own community, it’s true that many didn’t believe, which speaks to the complex nature of faith and the expectations people had of a Messiah. The Bible presents Jesus’ resurrection as a historical event that offered new life to everyone, regardless of belief. Christians understand that this message doesn’t override free will or coerce belief; rather, it invites people to explore, question, and ultimately find hope in God’s love. The seeming silence of God since then is often interpreted within Christianity as a period where God has chosen to work through the Holy Spirit and through the lives of believers, rather than direct appearances. It might seem strange or even absurd at first, but for Christians, the reality of faith rests not on compelling everyone to believe, but on a transformative relationship with God that speaks through love, compassion, and the promise of eternal life. I can quote the bible too. Deut. 14:2: “For you are a people holy to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people of his own possession, out of all the nations that are on the face of the earth”. This God never talked to or visited or assisted any other people on the planet. Never claimed any other people holy or of God's possession. For thousands and thousands of years, only the Jews. It's ok, that 12 year old consented--the Bible God. Funny. That's the same thing the Muslims say, the Mormons say, the Scientologists, the David Koresh cult members etc. etc. All cults claim it. Revelations 6:13 "and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind." -----The Bible God doesn't even know what a star is.

The story of Mary is one Christians view with reverence, seeing God’s choice as a profound honour, entrusting her with an important role in His plan. For believers, this reflects God’s respect for humanity, choosing to work with people in ways that dignify their participation in His story. Faith can certainly be a deeply personal journey, different for everyone. Christianity is a faith that rests on personal transformation through love, humility, and grace, inviting people into relationship rather than compulsion. This echoes in many faiths, yes, but Christians find in Jesus a unique vision of love that seeks to serve and bless rather than dominate. While this view isn’t universal, it’s a path that millions find meaningful. The Bible’s imagery, such as in Revelation, uses poetic and symbolic language to communicate complex truths that go beyond literal interpretation.
