I was at this show (my first time seeing Shellac) and this version of “Billiard Player Song” has haunted me for 25 years. The only lyric I could recall was “sh!t brown river” and I could never determine what song it actually was from that. Thank you for posting!
I was the dude who crowdsurfed to Long Slow Goodbye.
whos on the line up?
Thanks for uploading this. Do you by chance know who the opening band was for this Hum show? I saw Hum in Atlanta six days after this show, and the opening band was probably the loudest one I've ever heard in a club. I had to put my fingers in my ears because they were so loud (wish I had brought earplugs). A couple of years ago, I tried to find out who opened for Hum for that 1996 Atlanta show, but was unsuccessful. The opener was so loud that I wondered if it might have been My Bloody Valentine, but I think I discovered that MBV never performed with Hum.
Can you please also upload the audio from the following Songs of the Deaf concerts: 2002-09-05 (New York), 2002-09-07 (Toronto), 2002-09-14 (Grand Rapids), 2002-09-28 (Austin), 2002-11-01 (Brussels) and 2002-11-02 (Tilburg)?

Thanks for posting this. I took leave while in the Army to go. I flew out alone from NC, rented a car and stayed in Big Bear. I drove from there both days, closest I could find a hotel room I could afford. It was a great set, and a great festival. You got everyone from the lineup I can remember being there, plus Brian O'Connor, like Mileke mentioned in a reply.
I like how that one dickhead got shushed trying to sing Long Slow Goodbye before it started 2:19:13
anyone got a download for this? been desperate to find one...
32:16-32:21 Joey does the opening Hi-Hats for "Song for the Dead", and a few seconds later, Nick does the opening bass line to "Song for the Deaf". Joey realises his mistake, and then stops.
I went to that show!
What is David refferring to after magnolia when he says something about competition? Was there another artist playing at the same time next door?
Also, Happy Birthday Mark!
One of the most under-rated bands of all time! Mark seemed like a fascinating man, it is too bad we lost him. Seemed ahead of the times. R.I.P Mr. Sandman
What a fantastic recordings of a great gig. My fave time of the BP. The unpolished Junk Yard time and the thriller songs on Mutiny in Heaven. It didn't get any better, before them riding of a cliff, like Mick Harvey explained the end of the Birthday Party. I saw there second coming afterwards, right there in Melbourne. But the intensity left the bodies and the music. Fair enough. We were spoilt by intense lusty music. I mean listen to these recordings. A crown on all their best work. Thanks guys.
Thank you so much for sharing this! My homie and I went to this concert back in 2005 - "We're doing it for Johnny!" What an amazing concert.
There has to be video of Dave Grohl playing Kyuss somewhere. Mind boggling.
Brutal !!! ❤
Wish I could of been there. Fuckin mint
I went to this show with my friends Jim and Adam. Jim was from LA, and he had a friend in Palm Springs who was a kyuss fan and said we had to go to this show. We played pinball for a while, cuz the show didn't start until after 11:00. I had no idea who they were, but afterwards, I said these guys can make it. They came to town in two really ratty vans. They had finished a show earlier in the evening in Milwaukee, They also had an older guy with them who didn't do much. So we joked he must own the vans ;-)
Doesn't sound like demos. Sounds like pre-orchestration.
Shows @ the 9:30 always sound better than [insert inferior venue]. Just cuz I'm from DC/ biased doesn't mean I'm wrong! 🖤🖤🖤Thank you!
These demos are amazing! More please!!!
He had a Jim Morrison vibe. Classy. Always imagined a dark little club restaurant.. him and chill audience exchanging vibes. He should still be here 🙁
The audio of this show is amazing. Freaking Chris Cornell was killing it on vocals. My goodness! Soundgarden sounds tremendous here. Thanks for posting. 🤙
Is “Jam” an early version of Infinity?
Hell yeah! Thank you. Millionaire @2:00 sounds like a plane's propeller revving for take off! This is going to be a great listen! Best modern rock band hands down!
Thank you for posting this! Made my day
Luv your life is so pretty ❤
Song Timestamps 0:00 Tuna in the Brine 5:33 One Way Mule 10:18 Luv Your Life 14:29 Across the Night
Okay but one way slaps ❤🔥🤘🎸🥁
I like tuna in the brine better like this ❤ I feel the pain more in it
It actually sounds more heavy and eerie with less instruments
Whoa, not sure what rabbit hole I jumped down to end up here, but I was at this show. I remember being kind of surprised how empty it was (I think it was a weekday). In addition to Eleven, I think another band opened up(?) Crowbar maybe?
This goes to show that great songs are great no matter how they are dressed up.
He doesn’t get up as early as a baker … a- huh
Sick set list.
Crowd doesn’t know what a great show they’re missing
"Mark's smoking crack while a bum's licking his balls, so he couldn't be here tonight" Oooooouch man
Gosh I would’ve loved to hear this version of You Can’t Quit Me Baby. This is by far their best concert IMO.
Oh this is Dope Quality for then. ❤
I was front row center, going crazy. So glad we at least have the audio from this show! Long live Kyuss! 🤘🏻
my one and only QOTSA show..i remember having to park in what looked like a real bad area...not sure if my car would be there afterwards...just amazing to also see Mark Lanegen too...
If you’re gonna make a post like this on a video platform, you should at least put the title that it’s audio only man because this is BS. In my opinion no one’s expecting it to be only audio
Sounds like VUs equivalent of Les Rallizes Denudes 77 Live
I so want access to the original recording to clean it up and polish it out. The energy in the crowd and on stage is so there especially opening the show with Give the Mule.. drooly. 🤤
Kid asked good questions
