Followed the old pioneer trail down Hole in the Rock. It’s amazing they got all their cattle and wagon down this about 150 years ago. #lakepowell #utah #pioneer

Nice Strawberry Cutthroat Through the Ice
Witch lake?
That's the issue with E-Lake, is access. Too bad they don't plow out the ramp road down to the outhouse. For old guys like me, it's a no-go, but it is a favorite lake.
Agreed. Access is super difficult.
What was the weather like in January? Was it warm enough to enjoy the pools?
The pools are definitely on the chilly side, but not too bad. Pool water was probably mid to upper 70’s.
Did you bring a rod with you, or can you rent one from the resort?
I brought the rod with me. 4 piece rod in my carry-on. Fly box with hooks travel in my checked bag.
We are going in Jan 2025, can't wait, looks amazing
Where can we see the menu of the restaurant ? Any bed bug in the room ?
I didn’t see any bed bugs.
Reminds me of my childhood, sitting in my dads old jeep and talking about the future concerts. Thanks for the old memories my guy, peace to you and your skills
Thank you for sharing.
Not bad 👍
THE best song ever. Well done
My home Emery County
I went up to Huntington about a month ago and saw a bunch of fish on the camera, but only caught one splake. They weren't having what I was offering them. Everybody that we talked to that day was struggling to get anything through the ice as well. Maybe next time I'll head up to Electric. I go to Strawberry throughout the ice fishing season but it sounds like it is pretty slushy now after that crazy snowstorm rolled through. I normally catch cutthroat there, but I want to reel in a tiger! Thanks for your video! And I would agree 100%, thanks for all the stocked fridges!
Great tigers for a short trip
Emery County is loaded with fun. Great fishing and great desert playgrounds. Nice to see you did better than I did when I went. Good looking tigers. Dragging all that gear up the hill was surely not the fun part!😂
Do you always fish the dam when you go there? I like the north end. Only been to the dam once and didn’t do very well. The north end also freezes early since it’s so shallow and you can sometimes get on the ice several weeks earlier.
@dankennedy_utah No, but it's usually harder to access the north end due to snow. It's been at least 6 years since the last time I fished the lake at all though, aside from my recent trip.
They should’ve called it a leopard trout, tigers have stripes. But cool fish 🫡
Big fish🎉
Nice! Healthy tiger.
all of this has since been torn down...
That was a huge crappie. Back in "82 I fished that area on the west side of the lake near Hite marina. would load up on crappie from shore and bring them back to our group living at Natural Bridges National Monument.
What area are you fishing from shore? I’m considering taking my son there but we know nothing about that area.
We drove down the Blue Notch Road. There’s plenty of primitive camping there.
What type of flies did you guys use?
I don't remember. This was 4 years ago. They aren't picky at all.
Good video, but I didn't like the part where the fish was hauled up the steep embankment, if that was a catch and release.
Great stuff Dan! Glad you decided to go down.
Hilarious play by play and shakey camera work by yours truly. BG
Awesome video man, which lake is this one??
Thanks! This was at Oak Creek. Most of the Mountain is closed to fishing that time of year. Oak Creek is one of the few lakes that is open to fish. At least it was five years ago when this trip happened.
Hey need more info. How do I troll for Walleye? That canyon looks very different than what Wayne's Words says about shallow shelfs near main channel. I wanna get some Walleye at Powell
Nice! Even found some Walleye
+Dungee Fishing Little bit of everything. No crappie this time though. Headed down again next week. I can't wait! Hopefully the boils will still be going on down south.
nice video thank you for sharing
Going there in January. What excursions do you recommend?
Aventura Maya. Ziplining and Cenotes (undergorund water-filled caves). IT was the best part for sure. Tulum was okay. Tons of people and I didn't particularly like how long the bus ride was. You've got to see it though.
A few scenes from our recent trip to Stockholm, Sweden.
my biggest fish that i have caught out of that lake was a 24 inch 8.5 pound hybrid, very nice fish in that lake
Hi Dan. Me and my partner are currently looking at this hotel for our holiday. was wondering location wise how far away is the main strip bars shops etc? Not very well traveled and pretty unsure what to expect of Cancun, can you shed some light please?
There is a bus stop right outside the hotel. It's just a short bus ride to the north to get to anywhere you might want to go. Busses come by every few minutes. I think it was $1 USD ride the bus.
We got a couple's massage at the spa which we really enjoyed. I would definitely get a room upgrade. They put us on the bottom floor which didn't have an ocean view. Plus we had a really rowdy neighbor. We asked for a room upgrade, and they sent us up to the third or fourth floor. Just keep in mind they charge an 11% fee on all resort credits.
My favorite lakes are lakes you can't drive to. Check out a map and look for places you have to hike in to and you'll usually be rewarded.
If you're interested send me a PM and Ill give you the low-down. i was just up there last week
Urban Outdoorsman still up for helping a guy get past the 12 inch brookies? I've been doing some research on boulder and was wondering if our could help me out, I haven't been there for 15 20 years
Great fish. Way to stay legal and stay in the water as well. That area behind you is notorious for getting pictures of anyone out of the water and making a call to the sheriff. That's a toad!
one of the best hotels in Mexico..
I probably would have gone out to Isla Mujeres on the excursion that was available with the hotel credits. We used a bunch our hotel credits to get a concierge room upgrade which was nice.
I am going to be staying at the same hotel as you did in July. Do you have anything you would do differently if you were to go again?
I was wondering what lakes you would recommend, I am from Page, AZ and have been wanting to make a trip this summer??
Wich side of the lake were u fishing? And what was he caught with... Ice fly, tube jig, minnow, night crawler? That was a beauty!
Nice, can't wait till I can go! Hopefully there's thicker ice:)
Thanks Man. It's been a bit of a late winter here in Utah. Unseasonably warm.
Yeah seriously. We need some cold weather!
Nice man. What a fatty! This was the first time in 8 years that I missed black Friday ice. It was tough to deal with.
nice trout. still waiting for first ice here.
Somewhat ready, yeah. There was just one very small area that had about 2.5 inches. Most of the dam arm had about an inch. It was melting and 45* when we got off the ice around 12:30.
Looks like we're ready, eh? Nice!
Beautiful cutbow-can't wait to get up there.
Thanks dude. I had to look up that double rainbow video now that a couple people have mentioned it to me.
Double Rainbow!!! Hehehehe. Looks like you guys had fun. Nice work. Fat brookies on the Togiak for Jman!
