Добавлен 15 ноя 2011
Hands on Knitting Center is a Local Yarn Shop based in Redlands, CA. Every yarn shop has its own culture and goal and we have always been a teaching store. It is our greatest pleasure to help knitters, crocheters, weavers, and spinners increase their skill set. We keep our education in expensive and accessible. With COVID-19, we have transitioned to holding all of our classes on Zoom so if you are looking for online lessons, check out our website! www.handsonknittingcenter.com/module/events.htm?month=1&year=2021
Initially we created our RUclips channel to support our local customers and the classes that we taught in store. As our online presence has grown, so has our audience. But we continue to commit to straight forward content without a long intros and useless information. Our goal is to be the first choice stop for knitting help!
We appreciate your taking the time to watch our videos and hope to see you in-store or online!

Magic Loop Sock: German Twisted Cast on
❤👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you for your demonstration , this was very helpful and well demonstrated
Best ever instructions for casting on two-at-a-time socks or mittens on two circular needles! Thank you.
Thank you so much
❤
Its going way too fast, and the off white yarn doesn’t have enough contrast with the background 😢
So sorry the video was not effective for you. You can slow down the video and rewatch. If you watch the throwing bit, it is always slower. Hope you figure out the technique - even with another video - it is a fun one!
Why is it always so fiddly to start? Thank you for the awesome instructions!
So , the dark color would represent the main color and the light color would be the contrasting color, correct? I’m working on a project where I change yarns every eight rows. I’m having a problem at the end of the row with the first color change when the past contrasting color becomes the main color. I’m getting to the end of the row and I’m confused because the yarn isn’t ending up where it needs to be.
Thank you so much for the clarity & great tutorial for fixing knitting errors. This is the first time I have ever been able to save a knitting project!❤
Lovely and clear for the ssk and k2tgr thank you, but my pattern says the reduce each edge on every row, so how do I keep that pattern on the purl row ? Any help or suggestions gratefully received (apart from binning it 😂)
Thanks for this great video. I just couldn't figure out brioche until I watched it.
I was flipping through a book of patterns and this one caught my eye, thank you for a great explaination
Thanks for the kind words! I love the look of this stitch. Have fun with it.
Thanks for such a clear explanation, I've knit for years and am a thrower. I seem to have a passion for knitting hats and have never liked my deceases. They are functional and not pretty. Now I clearly know what to do. I appreciate your presentation.
Thanks for the kind words! So glad the style worked for you. And I do love a tidy decrease on a hat!
Thank you! What a gift. I have always wanted to knit a ripple blanket but I could never get it right! You are such a good teacher. Thank you for making everything easy and understandable. 🤩
So glad this was helpful!
All of these shawls are very beautiful. But so many of them are worn just like scarves or cowls. Or bandanas Your video is very useful! Thanks so much. I have made a lot of shawls but I don’t always want something around my neck so I usually wear them the traditional way over the shoulder.
Yarn & colors used in If You Leave shawl at 10 min mark please
Hi Claudia, I love that piece! The yarn in the pattern is Fyberspates Vivacious DK. The one I showed was Madeline Tosh DK. And don't hate me! I cannot remember the colorways.
Thank you so much for this video. You saved me from starting over for the umpteenth tjme! ❤️
Where can you find the pattern for the button hole shawl?
Please forgive the delayed response. I missed your question. Here is the link: www.trendsetteryarns.com/lgsinglepat.asp?pat=PAT-6201J&name=J.%20Cool%20Wool%20Big%20Hand%20Dye%20Buttonhole%20Scarf/Wrap
Thanks a lot. This is very useful. I love that button hole shawl. 👍🏼It looks beautiful when you see it worn by someone.
Love your video. Is there a way to take any chart and turn it into a slip mosaic knit pattern?
No all charts will work with Mosaic. You need to think about the motif with 4 rows at a time. When you are working with the C2, you have to have a C1 stitch to slip in order to maintain the lines of the motif. My best recommendation is to chart the motif you want then double the number of rows and add the slip stitches. If you come across a spot that has to have a stitch and does not, see if you can make an adjustment. Also, Barbara Walker has a fabulous book on Mosaic. And her Treasury books all have mosaic motifs. Have fun with it!
what size needles are using and what size cord ? are u using 4 ply worse weight yarn .......................
Size US 7 needles, 16" cord. But you just need to use the right needles for your yarn or pattern.
Thank you for doing this! Very helpful!
I’ve noticed my brioche has been naturally moving by one stitch every round, what’s going wrong?
Hi Riley, there are a couple of things that come to mind. 1, is your marker migrating? 2, are you noticing a decrease in the number of stitches? 3, are you noticing that you are no longer in a 1x1 rib? If you can, we have free drop in help every Tuesday at 2:00 pacific on zoom. Go to www.handsonknittingcenter.com and click on the calendar. If you are in a different country and or that time will not work, let me know and we can find a time. Molly
Merci pour votre vidéo. Je ne vois pas le début du tricot,ni le nombre de mailles. Votre ouvrage est déjà de plusieurs centimètres. Merci de me donner une réponse de votre part. Cordialement
My French is rusty but I believe you are asking for details on how many stitches to cast on. Here is a link for free pattern www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/basic-brioche-beanie Thanks for watching and the comment!
Je vous remercie beaucoup pour votre réponse aussi rapide. Et votre Français n'est pas du tout rouillé comme vous le dites. Vous êtes une personne très intelligente, vous pouvez être fière de vous. Merci infiniment 🇨🇵👏👍🙏❤️❤️❤️
I love how you describe things! So memorable and clear! “Is it like a cowboy who just got off a horse or like someone who has to go potty?” 🤣🤣
Thanks Melanie! My goal is easy to remember - all the better when it is slightly silly.
Dankeschön
👍🇦🇺👏❤💙💛💚🧡💜🎊🎊🎊🤩🎊
Thank you for this very fine tutorial. This is just what I was looking for. 😊
THANK YOU SO MUCH MAY ALLAH GIVE YOU ALL THE HAPPINESS IN THE WORLD
Your video must be for expierenced knitters as you instruction/demonstration is too fast to follow.
Jamie, I am so sorry you did not find it helpful. You can slow down the video if that helps. I went as slow as I know how to. But the joy of RUclips is that there are lots of videos so I hope you found another that worked better for you.
Just a little note ,getting a bag with holes on each side really helps organize the yarn. You only have to turn bag over each time. No tangled yarn!
This video is the first one that I’ve found to be thoroughly explained. Thank you It’s my new favorite way to knit socks.
I am so glad you found it helpful!!
Exactly what I needed! Thank you!!!
Yay! So glad it helped.
I love your skills
Boy was this helpful! Thank you! I just learned to knit and made a mistake and felt lost. This helped me tremendously!
I am so glad it was helpful!! And good on ya for fixing your own mistake as a newbie!!! You will be an amazing knitter.
This is so helpful. Thank you!!
I am so glad it was helpful!
Thank you! Excellent resource!!!
You just saved me from pain and suffering. Lol! Thank you!
It's SO hard to find instructions for continental knitting! Thank you so much. I'm doing toe-up socks for the first time and I've never done this W&T stitch before! ✌❤🇨🇦
I am so glad you found it helpful!
What happens if I notice the hole after knitting a while?
Fran, you can ladder down to the hole and fix it as shown. Or, you can do a duplicate stitch over the hole and close it then weave in ends. Does that help?
Thank you so much, now I manage the w&t👍🏼
So glad it was helpful!
Whenever I knit the slip slip knit, my sts are always loose, so I have to slip as if to purl
When you slip as if to purl you are twisting the stitches - hence they appear smaller. If you work the stitches on the tips of the needle rather than the shaft they will look better. And I really like the look of slipping the first stitch knitwise and the second purlwise so the twisted and smaller stitch hides under the top stitch. But bottom line - it is your knitting so do your own thing and knit happy!
Very helpful. Thank you.
This was so helpful!! I wish I learned many many projects ago.. many projects I’ve thrown out because I could not fix.. or I have spent hours trying to fix a dropped stitch.. or trying to figure out how to “unknit” this made so much sense!! Thanks again!
So glad it was helpful!! I hate ripping when I can just fix!
Thank you so much for this video! Helped me out so much.
Complimenti !
Does this apply to knitting in the round? Do each row twice?
I am making sure we replied. Yes, you will still work each rnd twice. In some patterns you will knit both rounds and some you will knit the first round and purl the second. Look for the designer’s instructions.
I think I just found Knitting Nirvana for Newbies.😊 Such great videos with a ton of great information. Thank you for the wonderful videos.
Thank you for the nicest compliment!! So glad they are helping. Molly
