Movie benefits from being filmed on location. One of Hitchcock's best. My only critique is how quickly people fall in love in these stories. One day and they're madly crazy for one another. Same in Foreign Correspondent, The Lady Vanishes and scores of others.

This is stupidity, why not make the movie in a telephone TikTok portrait mode to make it more claustrophobic ? This same annoying excuse was used in the movie Saltburn the excuse being to make it like you are watching thru a peephole, why not make the movie image round then …

Why didn't they talk about how they felt. They should have talk or flight or reacted enough to make each other aware of their state. If you lose hope with the people you are in relationship with it can't be the point of justification of not working for it

A really good commentary! I enjoyed how you knit your voiceover with the scenes, making every second seem worthwhile. I am curious to know if you've though about comparing the different types of red herrings in the movie: some that are around emotionally charged moments and some are around comedic moments. I'm not sure how to even begin thinking about those!

I don't personally find the music ironic. It sounds a bit somber and depressing. Like Sunday music - when you're unemployed, everyday is like Sunday. I also initially mistook the tack piano for a piano with a chorus effect, which would have been a very contemporary sound for the time.
