Films by Tony Cane-Honeysett

Добавлен 27 июл 2014
Here are a series of films about my mum, Mary Cane-Honeysett which capture glimpses of her extraordinary life and character as a mother, teacher and artist. She struggled silently throughout her life with vision issues and a curvature of her spine due to Spondylolisthesis. It may have restricted her ability to do many things but it didn't deter her from her life-long passion to paint. She created works of art that captured the beauty of old, broken buildings that many called ugly. Even with her poor vision, she taught me how to see the world differently, to really observe, and to look up, not down. I hope you enjoy these films. @MaryCaneHoneysett

My mum was an extraordinary woman. Born into a humble, working-class family in London in 1928, she lived through some of the most challenging and remarkable times in history. Her story details the first 21 years of her life -an intimate account of resilience, love, and survival from the late 1920s to 1949-remains unpublished, tucked away in the pages of a book she wrote but never shared with th...

THE MILTON BAGBY 1950's TALK SHOW - Special guest Giselle Gazelle totally baffles Milton.
Mary was a wonderful lady. Her work is amazing. She captured yesteryear for all to see.
What a wonderful son and film maker you are. I wish you Godspeed in this amazing endeavour. Love from Pakistan ❤
Thank you!
What was her age in this segment?
She was 87 years old when I filmed this interview.
Positive attitude!!! Makes my day.
Just wonderful.
Many thanks!
She was a wonderful painter, self taught, and what an indomitable, feisty lady travelling across London on public transport with her paintings, or going to buy framing materials, and making the frames herself. And vision in one eye only, I believe you said. A real character.
Thank you. Yes, she was indeed!

Fabulous!! As a 71 year old painter, it gives me hope that I’ll be able to work around my challenges like this wonderful woman! ☺️
I’m certain you will!
"I want the whole of my head in there!" 😆😆
I know! It’s a classic line!😆
I follow some narrowboat vlogs and there's amazing brick houses/pubs....thinking of your mom.
Love that!
I love your mum’s work.
It’s her nature!☺️ She is a treasure.
One of my favorite bits...thx.
Maybe you weren’t told haw to paint buil$ing#, but you certainly know how to paint buildings.
She is such a great artist. Not naive at all.
I love your mom’s art and especially her attitude towards it. She’s a gem.🇨🇦
So great thank you
Glad you liked it!
it is good you tackle dream like scenarios that make you think so that you can see both rationality & irrationality & study them that is unique freedom of speech work
4:20 Oh after she hit him they went out hm? hmmmmmmmm
4:20 oh my god shes so violent !! im not violent it is over when I take responsibility I am the goddess of defenses not war im only 100% violent if a friend needs me to legally & promptly save their life that is the only time
2:50+ She gets so judgmental in ways that I do not mentally think about the types she is describing to insult him never pursue me oddly enough only very attractive highly intelligent mentally healthy males pursue me mentally & sexually or mentally ill ones smart or dumb Ive said my whole internet life that geniuses & criminals are drawn to me this is still true & genius males who like me & pursue me always end up being universally hot & wanted by many women it is SO WEIRD but true algorithmically records true they always end up being very fit & attractive getting blown off by a hot guy who likes you who you blow off after he screws up is more likely for me in this scenario so I dont have the option of saying "he was too chubby" I just end up analyzing why a very intelligent attractive male who pursued me stood me up because I only attract them 95% of the time anyone else is a friend or some random dude or a stalker pervert idiot criminal or fraud
2:13 this whole skit would not work this way if the woman was actually not that attractive (interesting bias) (!!??) she is actually attractive & very charismatic she can actually wear pigtails
2:08 if she wasn't as cute & funny as she actually is this would not be so good (bias is so weird) irl shes not someone you would blow off she truly is actually sexy
This flew into my feed & I must admit this actress is brilliant & it is so ironic because she is really beautiful she has a very rare androgynous appearance because you can tell she is an athlete but she almost looks like a little girl but then she was born highly intelligent but both he actress & the character reflect truths that are not all acting & fantasy very unique work you make
Thank you. Totally agree!
@@TonyCane-Honeysett she also has the young Nicole Kidman energy Nicole Kidman in her early mountain biking era. Intelligent and slightly sarcastic.
Her portrait of you is a lot better than some on Portrait Artist of the year .I can’t see how some of them win ,X
Yes, I totally agree!
I agree with what she said ,I don’t like the winners paintings either .I started painting in my mid 60s ,my work is af a similar genre.I paint how things were in the 50s60s
I don't agree with all the views Mary expressed here, but I would watch anything featuring her, because she's so genuine, and such a fine painter.
What an indomitable spirit this woman has! I love her fiestiness, her sense of humour, her self-deprecation and her paintings. It was the RA's loss, she is well worth their wall space, imo.
In years to come, your mother will be recognised as one of the truly great ‘urban’ painters. Maybe too little, too late, but those who know, already know and she can afford herself a wry smile up in heaven.
Thank you. I really hope so. I wish she was still alive to read the many comments here.
Mary's paintings aren't 'great' or 'nice' or 'pleasant'. They're brilliant!
Yes they are!
Wonderful lady. I agree with a lot of what Mary had to say about art especially conceptual artists. But I only disagree on one thing and that’s French impressionist’s. We are very lucky to be hearing her views,it’s a treat.
I've always said there's far to much snobbery in the art world. Mary your art work is FABULOUS. You're documenting social history. Your work is fascinating and interesting. And by far better than a lot of work on show.
Fabulous paintings. !!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Astonishing and heroic woman, and a wonderful artist. She showed such courage, dignity and stoicism. This was a humbling experience to watch, how she dealt with the losses of dearly loved things like her art, and then her house, but remained without self-pity.
Thank you. Yes, she was never one for self-pity. Remarkable woman!
Simply knocked out by these paintings, which have appeared out of the blue, no doubt YT algorithm. They are superb! The details are wonderful, hard to believe she had a visual impairment, with such accuracy and precision.
Thank you. Couldn’t agree more. My mum painted with her nose pretty close to the canvas!
I’ve looked at the dissolutional images and the sheer amount of unhinged validation,,,,the purpose of which is to put oneself into a group of individuals who are as baffled as you are Some of this tat is not are ,,,,at best there just mood boards.,,,,, and that’s polite Of course types will always have the ability to stand in front of these canvases and totally over intellectualise to the point that they have to stop,,otherwise they will loose the ability to communicate.
In just surprised she didn’t throw something in your direction.
I agree!
I absolutely love this lady’s work…….
I hate AI art. It’s no different than somebody plagiarizing great literature. I think it’s dangerous.
The problem is can anyone tell the difference any more? It will become increasingly difficult. AI is a useful tool but it’s not art.
wow her work as far as i am consurned is wonderful. What an Artist Brilliant.
Thank you. She really was.
Tony that was fabulous! Truly loved it!!!
Thank you.
Simply wonderful! What a great work. Long live the bricks of London! 💜💜💜
Thank you! Cheers!
Wonderful artist wonderful paintings
What a great doco Tony. Thank you for making it and sharing. I enjoyed watching it.
Many thanks!
That's a beautiful piece. Thank you!
Thanks, Brett!
Lovely hearing your mother’s essay on bricks.
Excellent....as usual...an extension of your mom's work.....
Thank you. Yes, indeed!
Another beautiful and inspiring documentary! I'll never look at a brick the same again! Loved it!
Thank you! Pleased you enjoyed it.
Beautiful story of a wonderful lady and artist this documentary really brought a tear to my eye, thank you to dear Marys son for bringing this excellent portrait of your mothers life and work to us, one can clearly see how much you loved your mum. Beautiful
Thank you so much! Delighted you enjoyed my mum and her paintings.
