Playing 10 a side on a grid iron makes so much sense. Lots more space for the players to work with.

A full size rugby pitch is 70mtrs wide (230'), the pitch here appears to be 160' wide. That means there just isn't the space to play expansive rugby. I understand you have to use the facilities you have, but you would be better playing short sided, 12 or 13 a side, to create the space.
