I was first turned on to this song by the woman I was dating. She had no idea it stirred in me memories over my "one who got away". Well, that relationship ended long ago, but surprise, I reconnected with the one who got away after 35 years. Now I play this song for her and tell her how I always knew I'd see her again, but could never dream we would fall in love again!!! Almost six years together now, and the love grows every day!
How does this song have so few likes? Surely, more than 258 people have lost a love they can't get get over. Thank you, Mr Gorka. I've listened to this song for almost 40 years, and you won't believe it? I found my "one that got away" again. Now we are engaged to be married!
So beautifully done. You are SO talented. I ❤️ listening to you, and singing along with you... Especially to THIS song! I'm taking lessons, as a newbie, and learning/playing bass guitar... My husband is teaching me to play... which is more challenging than vocals to me, as I am a newbie to playing a stringed instrument. I was a flutist first. . Thank you, again, especially for THIS song! ❤️, Gratitude, from Maryland!
I can hear the rain come down, I can listen with my heart I can see with both eyes closed in the dark Sleep will come in just a while but till it does I choose To listen to the rain, it's the rhythm of the blues I walk along these streets of home that once belonged to us And now baby I walk alone and I am lost In the sound of my own footsteps on the avenues I guess I'm only walking to rhythm of the blues I don't wanna hear another word spoken, I don't wanna see another tear shed I can't seem to fix what's broken, like this record baby in my head Lonely looks as bad on me as lonely looks on you And still we keep on moving to the rhythm of the blues I want a place to call my own, where you have never been I wanna look around and know you won't be coming back again On some pretense paper-thin that I can see right through You come and go baby, like the rhythm of the blues You come and go baby, like the rhythm of the blues You come and go baby, like the rhythm of the blues...
Im Obsessed with this woman. Love love love her songs and production. She's probably the best songwriter in the world ever. Truly awesome. So very inspiring too.
Heard this with my dad oh so many years ago, spend a day seaching my mind for some of the lyrics to seach for - such a good time listning to this again - Thank you
I heard this Small Town Poets version in Oct. Of 1999 driving home from meeting my first newborn grandson after being healed from cancer just weeks earlier. Today i am a retired teacher serving on the mission field at Native American Christian Academy. I just sent this to a struggling friend.love this song so much.
This was lovely. Made me teary eyed. My mom just turned 88 and is no longer able to live alone. We almost lost her because she forgot to take her medication and almost went into a diabetic coma, so we had to move her in with my uncle and it's been a rough transition and I've been frustrated with her. So this put me back into some perspective. Thank you.
God is in the roses The petals and the thorns Storms out on the oceans The souls who will be born And every drop of rain that falls Falls for those who mourn God is in the roses and the thorns The sun is on the cemetery Leaves are on the stones There never was a place on earth That felt so much like home We're falling like the velvet petals We're bleeding and we're torn But God is in the roses and the thorns I love you like a brother A father and a son It may not last forever and ever But it never will be done My whole world fits inside the moment I saw you be reborn God is in the roses And that day was filled with roses God is in the roses and the thorns
It’s a good song except no melody

Not sure if Lucy's fans know that she is a Clinical Psychologist. Maybe she gets some stories from client's?
