Foundry VTT. we use if for almost all our games. It's super robust and has a lot of systems and modules in it.

We often have discussions in our development meetings about the meanings of words and what expectations they set for a reader. Adam is almost always correcting the rest of us when we say "Class" with "Profession" :D

You know what? That's a fair point. We played this on a live stream where the chat was joining in on the jokes, but it doesn't translate as well when exported to RUclips. Episode 1 is the first half hour of that stream, which we broke out into 4 episodes. We added a note in the description when we start the adventure to make it easier for folks who don't know us and want to get straight to the gameplay.

We're big fans of injuries and other obstacles to overcome. It was a major design driver behind Zweihander for us, and one reason we love Free League games as well. Wonder what sort of reception 5E players would have to something like injuries?

If you're just now getting into 5E, most likely. If you know the rules back and forth, you could probably run a game with just this product

You're welcome! In that case if you are looking to get into Roleplaying in the LotR setting with one purchase and the system doesn't matter, perhaps look into Free League's "The One Ring" Roleplaying game. If you're looking into playing D&D 5E and also want to play in the LotR setting, then "The Lord of the Rings 5E" along with the DMG and at least one PB would be the way to go :)

You only need the free basic dnd rules. All the other rules are in the lotr rpg book.

We have played with our community before, and found livestreaming to be a bit too unpredictable. That said we aren't completely closed to the idea on a recorded basis. When we have open spots the most likely place we pull people in are from the DoK discord (Link should be in the description). Our schedule is pretty planned out for a few months, but that would be the most likely way to join us :)

It's hard to say without being in their shoes, but we can share something from our experience. With the success of Zweihander, which took years to make we have a lot of interest in some of our bigger supplements, like Divinity Unleashed and Radiator. The thing is, when Zweihander was being made we didn't have a company to run, so balancing that AND still trying to develop at the same time becomes a challenge. Not to say that's what they are going through, but that's the insight we can offer.

@@CannonOtterStudio i fear that FL have way to many IPs, and dont even have the time to make something from scratch (althou they have reused rules from the beginning). Growing to fast and running the risk of stream-lining their products to much, and it becoming stale. Its like they've gone "Hollywood" 😂. Eventually people will get tired of their formulaic approach maybe. To much of the same. Only old game that still seems to get expansions are Symbaroum, but that is made by another team originally from another company

Some important points of clarity here: I was part of the teams for Adventures in Middle-earth (the first 5e Middle-earth game), Ruins of Symbaroum, The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying, both editions of The One Ring, and many other games. I 'stole' Extended Rests from Adventures for Ruins, not from Ruins for Rings. Some folks also believe The One Ring is Mutabt Year Zero. Nope. The first edition came out in 2011, and has always been a bespoke system for Middle-earth. Sorry for the late comment, but just came across this! 😀

We love Cubicle 7's work, particularly everything they are doing with Warhammer. I think I would either try AiME or the One Ring using the Y0 engine next time to see what that's like. Regardless, the pdf is gorgeous, and if all I ever played was D&D, I think this would be a good starting point for branching out in THE classic fantasy setting :) (Adam)
