Why Open-Book Exams Are Better Than Conventional Exams (College Public Speaking Class Assignment)
Просмотров 3 тыс.13 лет назад
This is a presentation I gave in my College speech class in 2008 about open book exams. My intention was to persuade my audience that open book exams are actually superior to traditional exams, they require more preparation, and they are much more practical. Please feel free to share your thoughts :) Unfortunately, I no longer have the sources I used for the talk, and they are not visible from ...

Hey, I am now doing my assignment on this topic. Maybe you won't see it but may I know what do you mean by "we're not limited by the credibility of our memory" ? This is indeed a good presentation btw :)

Memory is fallible. You can remember an equation wrong, or get a key word of a definition mixed up with another. Open book exams mimic real life, where resources are typically available to help find or calculate accurate answers. they also force a greater degree of preparation, which enables the user to become more familiar with their resources. I don't remember the source, but there's a quote floating around that's something like: "knowledge is the collection of everything we remember plus all the resources we have access to."

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I've lost my notes on this talk, so I don't have my bibliography for it anymore. Sadly, the video recording at my college wasn't good enough to capture the projector :( Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
