Early Autumn NY Countryside Flight
A beautiful sunrise flight over the New York countryside.
I'm not flying much now that it's winter.. which gives me time to go back and edit the tons of video footage I've built up!

My time at the Aurora PPG Fly-in 2024
Просмотров 8613 месяца назад
At the end of August 2024 AuroraPPG hosted their second annual paramotor fly-in. This was the first organized fly-in I've attended and I had an absolute blast! I got a new wing right before the event and it's so much fun to fly! AuroraPPG's mission is to increase the participation of women and girls in the sport of powered paragliding. What part of NY are you from? I’m in northern NJ. Curious if we are near by
@@tango_sierra8608 I'm up near Albany
I can see why it took you so long to edit this. You did that beautiful flight justice. Great video Justin!
Hey man I noticed that you blocked me on everything but RUclips, I have no way to message you but I’d like to know what happened man I’m always free to talk about anything, I love watching your progress in paramotor and I hope to reconnect at some point

You've got great energy management and wing control. Tie in that 2D and start really feeling the control of that wing!
@@ryanrrides4829 thanks man!! I've been thinking about that!! Prolly wait until early next year but I'm excited for it.
I never did find that duck pick up place. I guess now I see why it didnt look like one at all. I just stuck with the RC field lol.
It was amazing!!
Love it!
Thanks for posting man, fun video to watch
Can’t wait to attend next year
So good Justin! No one relaxes in a lawn chair tied to a box fan hanging under a bed sheet like you!
I have 40+ flights and still haven't tried big ears yet...I don't blame you for being nervous.
Well, at least you get a second chance. I’m a free flight paraglider pilot, we have to stick it the first time, and it’s often in a field we have never seen before, and often in thermic conditions. Unless we where lucky enough to stay up for 5-7 hours or more until the day died down, but more often than not a bad decision leaves us low having to land in whatever field we have picked for the landing option in which ever valley crossing we are attempting.
I was almost a free flight pilot that flight! Was running very low on fuel by the time I landed.. Was worried I wouldn't be able to make another pass if I needed to.. But yeah that's one of the reasons I love PPG is having more control of the flight. And being able to take off from any flat field :P
@@jdipierro I do plan on buying a paramotor just for after work flights during the week, i kept my beginner wing for one reason you can’t get even half what you paid when selling a wing, and for the second reason it will be a super safe and easy wing for transitioning to PPG flight, I already know that wing well and have done SIV on it, so I’ll just use it to paramotor now that I’m on a hotter wing for XC paragliding. But PPG will never take over for paragliding for me. Using thermals to climb thousands of feet, staying in the air for hours and flying much further than you would ever imagine possible without a motor, just the sound of the air and a screaming vario is absolutely amazing. I’ve glided over 5 miles after one thermal, flown 20+ mile triangles, and that’s actually nothing compared to more experienced pilots, I’ve had friends fly over 200 miles, it’s such an amazing sport, can be frustrating when you make a bad decision and sink out early, but when you fly past the valley you flew before and catch another climb and keep going for another couple hours it’s so rewarding.
how much that rig cost?
@@SeqK 8k for the motor and frame and about 4k for the wing. Training is about 3-4k. Ongoing costs are very low.
I still have to try big ears too! The scarieness is definitely there for me too!
How did he get the camera to show him ?
@@200cdl it's an Insta360 camera on a selfie stick. I sit on the stick to keep it in place. The camera makes the stick disappear so it looks like it's floating. Such cool technology!!
@@200cdl you can see the shadow of the stick and camera in the first few seconds

I was the second man to fly the thing, and the First certificate instructor back in the 80's...lol

Love it man one day we gotta get a flight together

Thanks for sharing! I'm just starting training. I'm lookinf forward to many adventures.
Hey bro. Long time no see . Congratulations on following your dreams and getting out there living life.
Thanks man!! Hope you're doing well :)
I was at work and it was too windy here anyway. But that's awesome!
Looks great to me. You stayed on your feet, didn't tear anything up...
30 year dream of mine.Where can I learn how to do that
I learned at You Can Fly PPG in Connecticut. Other good schools are Aviator in FL and Backcountry PPG in UT. Check out USPPA.org for more options!
@jdipierro Thanks, I live in vermont Travel is not something I can do casually, but I'm always looking to The sky especially at night. I've looked around here for a paragliding. And can't find much. What else should I look for
@@rickall8277 Morningside Flight Park is on the VT/NH border and does both paragliding and PPG training. I've never been there so can't speak to the quality of PPG training. I also found Paraglide New England up in northern Vermont but again no personal experience with them. You Can Fly has been trying to put together a class in North Adams, MA but hasn't had enough students sign up. Connecticut isn't too far if you can make the trip even for a weekend at a time. The YCF instructor is very flexible on scheduling. Tell them I sent you if you get in touch :) Hope you can make it work and we can share the skies together someday!! I'm in Upstate NY!

Loved the video and commentary and story telling. Great vid
Nice, great job man. I recognize that voice in your ear!!
Awesome dude great vid, great flying, amazing job man 🎉 living life 100%
Thanks man!!
Nice job! Work on maintaining low level altitude and this will improv be further. Smooth wind and into the wind is the best way to practice
Glad you got to try out the Luna! Looked like a great landing to me. Keep up the good work.
Just amazing, cousin!
Keep up the content, it's great!
Fun video, looks like a good time!!!
Awesome video Justin!
The last landing seemed to be a bit crosswind, as indicated by the glider that was laid out but even moreso by the wind sock and the fact that your wing drifted to your right as it deflated. You would have had a touch less ground speed had you landed more directly into the wind. Nice job, though! I enjoyed your video.
Great video Bro!!!!
Great video Bro!!!!
Well done, Justin! Awesome video! It was great to see you again, go 4-wheeling with you, sit around the fire pit with you, and of course FLY with you. What an amazing community we've stumble onto :)
Thanks man! So great hanging out with you, on the ground and in the sky! Can't wait for the next time! Absolutely amazing community indeed!
Awesome! When we get to flying season in Upstate I'd love to come watch you sometime!
You still liking the Magic
Yeah. I am going to upgrade to a faster wing soon. I got to try the Luna 2 at the sea and it was amazing.. but I'll be holding on to the Magic for when I want a nice chill flight.
