In part 5 of the hunting knife I'm making for my brother. I'm using an orange G10 liner (1/32") with Iron wood for the handle, corby bolts for pins, and making it razor sharp. Part 6 will be coming soon: Making a kydex sheath for the knife.

I'm making a knife for my brother. It is made out of cpm 20cv stainless and will have an ironwood handle. This is just an initial grind, so pre-heat treat. Heat treat will be next video.

I only landed 2 kings this year, and unfortunately, I didn't record it. I didn't film much at all the entire week. It rained almost every day, and fishing was slow.
why do people scribble back and forth to make a line? I have noticed many people do this when drawing but I don't understand the purpose.
What bandsaw are you using to cut that template with?
It is a Bauer portaband saw I got from harbor freight about 5 years ago. It has held up pretty well.
@@ianbyron7464 wow, i had no idea that those were strong enough to cut through stainless! I assume blade choice is key along with taking it slow?
@@zacherywilkinson5558 the blades are from home Depot and they are for thick metal. 1/8" Aeb-l cuts ok, but other stainless steels tend to harden when they get hot, so I gotta use an angle grinder for those.
@@ianbyron7464 excellent. thanks so much for the info. Blade came out great btw!
That’s very nice, and I learned a few new tricks. Thank you!
good thing i can mute your head banging music. horrible.
Blade design & looks seems like a wonderful knife…thanks for sharing. 😊😊😊
They won't rebuild there boots they told my to buy another pair so fuck nick boots
hello. awesome vid. was thinking of planning a fish trip out that was this year. was wondering where the best access points are that have trails and allow you to get to different spots.
I usually stay at Bowman's Bridge campground, but I go elsewhere to fish. It depends if you go earlier in the run, you might want to try fishing at Indian bridge. I never go to Gleason's landing; I sometimes go to sulak if I'm up there later in the run like end of Sept or beginning of October.
That’s a nice clean camping spot’ I live in Australia & it’s getting hard to find a good clean safe spot to camp here now day but luckily the wife & I our own property now’ it’s 2400 acres & runs the full length of NOWENDOCK river it’s private safe & full of feral pigs Deer & wild dogs as well as bloody good fishing. Thanks for the video mate & I also enjoyed your knife sheath video.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
Knife name
Nice job Ian, I love your edge slicker, I gotta try that.
Awesome video. Thanks for the MAIDEN!!!!!! What campground was this ?
It's Bowman's Bridge in Baldwin.
Thanks man
@@dougwalton4831 no problem. It is a nice, clean campground.
Beautiful work
Thank you!
To get a more accurate 2nd outline, use a compass rather than a ruler.
Very detailed work there.
Such a fun video to watch. I wonder though, at 25:44, instead of a bottle, would it prove to be easier for you to use a guitar bottleneck slide? Slips right on the finger and would prob be easier to hold/control?
Yeah, I don't know; a guitar neck might work. I need to get an actual burnishing tool one of these days.
@@ianbyron7464 oh no, i mean a glass slide, they call them bottleneck slides because typically would be cut from the neck of a bottle. Of course, now that I think about it, it would not make sense to buy a slide if you can easily use an empty bottle that you already own for free.
Genial muy bueno
I just now noticed that you have 412 subs..... I was convinced you had 412K subs. That's how good I think your vids are
Thank you!! I really appreciate that!
By the book, great job !
Отличная работа,качество на высоте.Видео о том, как нужно правильно делать и любить свое хобби.
hello I would like to know on which site you buy your steel thanks
I use Jantz knife supply & USA knife maker.
@@ianbyron7464 okay thanks 👍👍
Verygood felicidades por tu trabajo saludos desde México 🇲🇽
It is so interesting to watch someone, who is obviously gifted in their craft, create incredible things. Inspiring! Thank you.
I like the blaze orange scales for a camp knife. And the blade has a great profile. Is this one your design?
Verygood 🫡
Wow kreen dan mantaab sarung pisaunya bro
Super Arbeit ! Es war ein Genuss zuzusehen .
The welt is a bit too generous for my tastes, but a great video overall
Very glad I came across your channel. Really like your ingenuity in regards to using what you have ( the bottle to smooth the edge, a 2x4 under the project when punching holes). The video itself was nicely done as well and great music. You earned this new subscriber.
Thank you!!
Beautiful job. Yu have golden hands, but the sound track was annoying and irritable to a stage where I was just about to change page.....Just my opinion of course, but the end result of you work compensate the rest... :)
Yes, my next video will have a better soundtrack.
Beautiful work. Thanks for sharing the layout to the finished sheath, learned a lot from your video. Appreciate you sharing!!👍
Un "verdadero" diseñador.
Hi Ian, this is a very good video, detailed, we'll filmed, work workmanship is very good, just a suggestion, I found the music got a bit repetitive, maybe mix it up a bit
Hi, could you please tell what stamp you used there, so far I've only used the basket weave stamp, which is cool, but, I'm ready to try something else! Cheers
Hi, I bought it on Amazon and it is just called "leather crafting stamp". Brand: DandS Ltd
Quelle musique à la con .
Супер работа
A sheath like that, well cared for, will last several lifetimes...
I doubt it. After you dye the leather with an alcohol based dye, it will dry the leather out. You'll need to apply an oil before sealing the leather whit a cote.
Awesome job just starting to make knives and using kydex at present and the leather makes it look so much nicer keep the videos coming
Thank you!!
👍🏻, just a little tip; it's easier to skive the leather when you wet it (just a bit).
Very nice work! I need a sheath for my Bowie knife, where you at!
Thank you! I'm in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
Awesome work!
Thanks!
Nice work! A great sheath for a great knife.
Thanks Bea!
"Uploaded 2 months ago" 'PM Fishing "2019"' 🤣 somebody is very smart obviously
Thats the same spot we went too
Yup, I go there every year. One of these days, I'd like to go to the UP though.
Awesome. I’m going to make some hunting knives out of this steel. Have you used this steel much yourself?
Yes, I have made myself a knife & someone else a small cleaver. It has excellent edge retention and good corrosion resistance.
@@ianbyron7464 brilliant, thanks for the reply.
@@loveall3890 I have a less George ZT0 920 made out of CPM 20 CV still razor-sharp
Cool 👍👍👍
Thank you
Cool knife
Thank you
I love your channel. It is so professional!
Looks Good Man!!
Thank you
Love it!
