Larry Charles' "Bob Dylan Slapstick-Comedy" Story
If this was Sled Island 2008, then I wanna say the venue was probably Broken City Though I feel like they might have played more than one show during the 2008 festival
Women. Love forever and always <3∞
What came first 'Jerry sings Dylan' SCTV skit or Dylan's obsession with Jerry?
2 days before my birthday, in my hometown no less…
drag open outro is nuts
who'dja think ye are, Malky--LeBOWski? the eagles wrote some great melodies--as did the pavementseses. him having a go at smashing pompkins was funnier than this. and billy's band has aged a tad bit better than either the so cal narcissists or the norcal snarkmeisters.
They're just remarkably platitudinous. Their ethos has nothing to do with it, it's just really blase whitebread stuff. But it's worse, because Kansas or Boston or Chicago etc. relished in the awfulness, there was no pretensions. The Eagles were the same, but they clearly thought they were "writing some real stuff, man" which just makes it even douchier. That said, Joe Walsh is a legend.
Probs my favorite track of all time. A perfect blend between Pat's sweet 60s style songwriting and gut-wrenching harsh noise from Chris' side. They used to perform it spectacularly onstage and I just wish I could have seen it while it was happening. Beautiful band.

“The slapstick phase has officially ended.”
America's first boy band
I want a hot beverage!
a band that was an earth-grazing fireball
I need more versions of PINKY !!!! LOL This is only the 2nd one I've found. THNX !!!!!
5:50
2:27
Fucking amazing
Bob Dylan the next Phil Spector.
Robert Zimmerman trolls HBO.
Did he give one good reason that he didn't like the Eagles, other than he didn't like their politics? I can give a lot of good reasons not to like them, starting with Don Henley's narcissism.
This interviewer does not like hearing the answers to the questions they ask. They just want to hear their own voice ask the questions.
Horse flies are the worst. WORST
The most annoying thing about the Eagles has always been that they don't suck. It's such blatantly cynical, watered-down Buffalo Springfield plastic kind of shit and the epitome of limousine-liberals, but you can't say in earnest they're lousy musicians and songwriters, and that's why they were even bigger villains than someone like Fred Durst.
I can't count how many times I've listened through this. Thanks.
Laurel Canyon Social Engineering Rock....
Holy fuck this lip smacking is fucken annoying
Incredibile
"Pig in a wig" totally made it into a song too.
Anointed singer: Judy Jacob's -- Days of Elijah ( No God Like Jehovah )
I've had a shitty day and I hate the fucking Eagles, man.
Me too buddy!
Oh man, fucking love this
capitalist hippies.. completely understand what he’s saying about Apple selling liberalism. think like a hippie, just to sell to the yearning-for-a-better-world leanings of people’s minds, which makes them feel less like they are playing and paying into capitalism, which they are. it is just disguised by pretty marketing. unfortunately, i myself am included as one of those consumers
What?
He's too polite to say "fuck the Eagles"
the dude also hates the eagles
neat
If I'm not mistaken this was their last show as a (functional, performing) band. The next show of this tour was the one that ended them as a band. Still great performance, so sad I never got to see them live. But fortunately they moved on to other great things
do you have a link to the audio of this show? super great, super early document of the public strain songs
Burroughs cut up technique...I knew it!
I just love this story and how well it is told. “I don’t want to do it anymore…too slapsticky.” The slapstick period is officially over.
Pat being loud! I like it
Big corporations and liberalism go hand and hand
That guitar layering at 1:51 is so crazy I just cant believe it
yea check it out here: ruclips.net/video/Kxmbun2svac/видео.html
that Narrow With The Hall false start is so funny
Self-absorbed douchebags
Lesson to be learned here: Don't try to be in front of Bob Dylan. He's already moved on.
"I don't want to do it anymore" 😂😂would you laugh or just punch him right in the face
was he carrying 2 guns at the meeting ?

Bob Dylan: Deepest of the Deep
I’ve been trying to figure out who does the slight graze over the strings in the intro and outro for like a solid minute
I know exactly what you're talking about - it's Pat. You can see him do it at around 0:37.
@@hughmackechnie2104 Yeah I figured that out a bit after I made this comment. Weird, makes me wonder what Chris' part is specifically then because covers often have his part as the one playing the glissando
@@synthmalicious7541 I think whats actually going is pat is playing the lead, a drone, and the glissando all at the same time and chris is either playing the lead or a drone, I might be wrong about that but yeah.
@@snoopdoge191 I assume thats how hes playing it as well, that's how I've been practicing it since I watched this video
Both Chris and Pat play the lead part, they pick the individual notes but let go of them between each note, that's the drone sound of the open strings, they also highlight the bass notes playing open E and A strings
