Can i second the use of singing. I live in london and my teaching commute is 1 hour rach way with lots of walking. Singing under my breath groups of 5 (2/3 or 3/2) and then chsnging the speed inealk to represebt the various "big" pulses (4 or 5). Love this video. Keep up the good work.

thank you once again for sharing this cool exercise with us.this one is particularly helpful while trying to play fast with hands switching at every consecutive repitition this way allowing the player to articulate at the same time as keeping the exercise oriented identically but laterally inverted; paradiddle-paradiddle-paradiddle-paradiddle+paraparadiddle-paraparadiddle-paraparadiddle+paraparaparadiddle-paraparaparadiddle-paraparaparadiddle+paraparadiddle...back to singles; pretty cool watching Aron play it at such a speed but as a matter of fact he is the one who designed it so technically no big deal for the educator. waiting eagerly for next post. namaste.

Hello, Aron Great video, man. I've been looking for a jazz review for this set. One question, how do you 'tune' your bass drum with the Silentstroke? I got this heads and I can't get the bass drum to feel close enough to a normal bass drum head
Hey there, thanks a lot! Depends on a lot of factors, but to be honest the bass drum can be tricky. What size(s) are you using? I have this 16" one and a 22" as well. They're both very different. My rule of thumb would be however to try and set the silent stroke to a bounce/feel what I like, then adjust the front side for the pitch (that's the only one giving you any basically). Then stick a Falam Slam or a thicker tap on the beater side. This will not only protect your silent stroke (yes they get spoiled too...) but also gives you some much needed attack. Additionally you can tape the beater side more for more tone (and volume). Finally you can play with the tension ratio of the 2 heads for fine tuning. I hope this helps...

Have you had the L80s for a while now? I got a discounted set because they had them as exhibition, and I see mine have gotten a bit darkened and stained like yours. This contrasts a lot with the 20 ride which I did get package new.
Yes, they do get discolored after a while. These are roughly 3 yrs old. I think it's because the color is a layer on the surface and not the inherent color of the alloy. But if you ask me this is the least important property of the cymbals...
