It depends on your personal choices and preferations in my opinion. For example Ailafushi is a 4 star resort, while Varu and Sangeli are 5 star resorts. Ailafushi has an underwater restaurant (sharing it with Lobigili, just between the 2 islands) which is something really cool, especially for this category. Varu has one of the best dining options for fine-dine enthusiasts with his maledivian cousine, called Kaagé. And last but not least I can recommend Sangeli for its wonderful underwater life. With that being said, for us Sangeli was the best option, because we are really into the sealife, and loved the vibe at the pool area aswell and the open bathroom for our villa was really spot on! But on some parts of the island the beach could contain some rocks which could be a no-go for some guests.

Well, it depends on. Both islands have a bit of entertainment at night. While both resorts are luxurious five star resorts, the main difference between them is the way they approach luxury. Emerald is following a more modern approach stylwise aswell, showing everywhere there is no expense spared, while LUX* is doing a bit more of a traditional, heartfelt approach all of the island. If you talk about some dancing and a little bit of party in the evening/night, both islands could give you that, even with live music, but don't experience a party like in the big cities. Maldives is not about that. I loved both, so its is only about your preference which one you choose :)

Depends on what you mean :) The weather was a bit windy, but the drone handled it well (but it could be that windy in Maldives sometimes even if it was sunny, you couldn't fly). Technically if you want to do everything legally, you should fill the forms for the Ministy of Defence and Aviation Authory aswell, but in reality no one really cares and checks it in the airport (experience, multiple times). The most tricky part is recording on the islands, because every resort is very sensitive about the other guests privacy. That is the reason many resorts are not allowing the drone usage at all, or strictly at morning times (6 am) and only in certain areas. LUX was very supportive, and let me do the fly in the afternoon. I consulted with the sales representative in advance, they allowed it, but still I had to finish it sooner, because a guest reported me to the security team :)

We were there in the middle of July, and despite its in the raining season, we had only a small shower for about 30 mins at one night. Nowadays the raining season not as bad as 10-15 years ago.

We booked via DERTOUR. You can buy it with a package (Hotel&airplane). The resort itself for example: for 7 nights from 3472€ /person for the Beach Pavilion with halfboard (basic roomtype). The price include the waterplane transfer. For the long haul carrier, it depends on where you fly from :)
