Peter and Lydia. When I was 47 years old, I did EXACTLY the same thing. Saw a homeless chap most days outside my local shop and felt that I could help. Invited him to stay for a while so that he could get his life back on track. He was 15 years younger than me and I really wanted the best for him. I'm not even going to being to tell you what a mistake this was except that about a year later, after he had stolen from me and had become dangerously violent, the police finally removed him from my property. That was 3 years ago and I still don't feel safe. The decision I made that day to help, was a terrible mistake. It would be so easy for anyone to say " how could I have been sooo stupid"? But I had wanted the best for someone else.

Ian is not a rock star, he's an entertainer ! That's why he's so successful.

I think it is fair to call Genesis and Yes pompous in a negative sense, but not ELP; they also had silly stage shows and outfits - as Tull as well obviously - but, as with Tull/Anderson matrerial, most of the music has sheer substance. I think Tull, ELP, Van Der Graaf Generator, Gentle Giant and Marillion (always superior to Genesis in the Fish era for me) form the nucleus of progressive rock music that will be acknowledged in music history as the most innovative and at the same time substantial music of the 20th century (in the long term) - not jazz or the 20th-century "classical" music ("Neue Musik"), which is mostly dissonant, often to the point of outright random notes - lots of charlatanry there, as in abstract painting.
