I've planted several trees and bushes in hopes of bringing these birds to my yard. They are beautiful.

Are Mandarins at this lake year-round, or just winter visitors

You can clearly see before take off the bird is calling: its body is pushing out the calls. This is a response to a comment made that the bird is not calling when it is. I'm noticing a trend that there are trolls deliberately trying to discredit bird counts and bird observations when the proof is given. I recently was a victim of this practice and exposed the deliberate defamation and discredit. This is a great video and observation. One of the biggest behaviors of this hawk is gliding low along its territory (as it is seen in the video) looking for prey and establishing territory. I had attended a bird count at a landfill and it was for a population studying and I observe the harrier hawk gliding along and flying low along hugging rolling hills/ landscape looking for prey.

I was thrilled to see waxwings for the first time a few years ago. There were around eight of them, and they were feeding off the rowan tree. They stripped it bare quite fast, then were gone. They are migratory birds here where I live, in England, I believe they migrate to Northern Europe for winter. Beautiful birds, and sadly haven't seen any since.

so many dc cormorants live around where i live and i feel like i never hear them make sound so i stumbled across this awesome vid….. turns out they just have asthma

The Double-crested cormorant’s crest is visible only on adults during the breeding season. It is white for cormorants from Alaska, but black for those in other regions

Ugh... just absolutely gorgeous and stunning bird.

WE HAVE HAD a lot of these birds this year. They love the Juniper trees with the blue berries and then they fly up to the dead tree and sit there on and off all day. So wonderful to see them maybe twenty-five to 80 sometimes more at a time

These birds are more commonly heard during the winter months here in Las Vegas, NV. They congregate into large flocks and hang out mostly with red winged black birds and great tailed grackles.

Wow, at the beginning, this Red Tailed Hawk was being chased by over a dozen crows, then they separated and only 6 of them were chasing it. My guess is that this hawk was smack in the middle of their migration path and they were just trying to get this hawk to clear their airspace!
