A day in the life of a Google Software Engineer | Work-from-home Edition
Helloooo!
This is my first video on the topic of Career - Job Shadowing where I follow people at work to learn more about what they do. My hope is that this video and the future ones will offer you a useful glimpse into the different career fields if you are considering them.
In this video, I am following Neil Fraser - a senior software engineer at Google - to see what his typical workday looks like during COVID-19 quarantine where a lot of people have been working from home. The video also includes some of Neil's tips for aspired software engineers out there!
Besides being a software engineer, Neil also does a lot of cool projects, and occasionally, he'd upload videos of what he does on hi...

Using Google to find info for coding Google is like a “chicken or the egg” situation
He uses only the 15" display, vertical ones are for the ego
Xxx
can i know why so big code are beign pushed in git as i know code should be as per functionality
hi guys what is the best strategy for a pull request having 5000 lines of code change? what is exactly smaller chunk he mentioned in the video? thanks
Smaller chunk means if a functionality can be divided further into more sub tickets then create pull request according to those tickets so your large code will be broken down further. What my junior did today was he created one pull request for 5 different tickets and codebase become so large that just looking at the size of files I rejected his pull request and asked him to break this code further and create pull request according to tickets
Literally jumped to this from a ‘day in the life…’ video from a female 22 year old at LinkedIn. It’s very clear to see that this guy is indicative of the people who actually do work at these companies Vs the day care that those ‘intern marketers’ inhabit
Suck a looser

as close as it gets to what an actual google software engineer actually do - you see this guy with a high capacity for problem solving with all this tech. I wish I am half as good as this guy but will try nevertheless! I'm coming!

The text you are reading is too small. Your main screen is too low. Your side monitors are displaying lots of code lines, you can not read hundred of lines at one glance. Also your terminal font size is very small too.
What MacBook is it?
