Maybe narcissists always want to be right, even when they are wrong. Maybe they don’t want anyone around them to be better at something than them. Maybe they always want to undermine others.
But whatever it is, we need to know that when they contradict themselves, it is their problem and not ours.
And WhatsApp helped me to see the patterns of behavior that narcissists engage in, and WhatsApp helped me realize that I’m ok; I’m sane.

Yes. They put themselves first (not necessarily a problem by itself) and don’t take the time to understand your feelings or problems.

You are someone who experienced that right in your personal space, but you have grown stronger and wiser dealing with that pain. That is how a blessing comes out of something otherwise bad. Your dad obviously had a very deep problem from something he could not deal with positively. Perhaps you were stronger than him??
100%, Jillian. I forgave my father a very long time ago. And yes, I am stronger now, but not because of him, but because of the immense amount of work and time that I've invested in making myself into the person I wanted to be. And interestingly my father went to boarding school and then he went to university in England, to study Textile Engineering and then he brought that knowledge back to the Textile Industry in South Africa in the early 1960s. I don't think he understood how to be part of a family. I'm sharing what happened to me and how I've overcome the odds so that others can benefit from my experience.

I am also optimistic of change in having a coalition party. They will be forced to go back ad relook their beliefs and values. They will compromise on issues they need to agree on regarding taking South Africa to a better place
