5th Gen Toyota RAV4 Auto Start/Stop Delete

2019-Current Toyota RAV4 Ok so maybe not a complete delete, BUT you don't have to press the button when you start the car anymore. Found it on ebay here www.ebay.com/itm/For-Toyota-RAV4-XA50-2019-2021-Car-Auto-Stop-Start-Engine-Canceller-Eliminator/284115586597 If you're more of a reader, the button has a bit of a delay. If you don't start the car before that delay is over, it wont work.

I have 2022 xle rav4 and i want to put this one on stock spring do you think it will be fine?
I don't think they changed the rear suspension yet on the rav's, so you should be good. You can always cross refrence part numbers if you have any doubts
@@eltumbleweed05thank you. I already installed mine. when it’s loaded how many psi do you put?
@@user-ik3nw3ck2d I have it at whatever the max is
Very helpful, thank you! Just did this successfully
Just bought a 24 RAV4 SE. It is the most terrible ride I have driven. Had 2 previous Toyota and other brand. None like this RAV4, it's so bumpy and loud when driving over rough roads and bumps. Will this Airlift helps it?
Probably not. The SE is the "sport" edition and has different suspension components which are geared more towards performance than comfort. Different shocks might help with the ride, maybe some sound deadening material in the back for the loudness?
JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU !! I have a 2023 RAV4 Hybrid LE. Three Toyota dealers said it couldn't be done. Then I found your video. The part number is now: 84652-0R100. Toyota price is $264. Took a while to find it. The install was simple. The covers on my steering column are different but actually easier than yours. The part slid in incredibly easily. Very happy with this project thanks to you.
@@RobertBouffard-z7t awesome! I’m glad it helped. I saw somewhere a switch that had the option to turn the DRL off, might be my next project
Is that for the trail edition
Not specifically. It fits all 5th Gen RAVs
I’m having a way harder time pushing the bags in. I’ve attempted 4 times already. I would love for them to go in that easy. But it’s like trying to put a wooden log in there.
It is not easy. Are you spraying with soapy water? the soapier the better
@@eltumbleweed05 Ok, so I couldn't get it into a hot dog shape. Once I put it in the oven for 5 minutes at 160 degrees it became more pliable. I manage to get one in. Once my busted knuckles recover, I'm going for the other one. Yeah, this definitely isn't easy, lol.
what year toyota corlla hatchback was this switch from?
19-22 Hatchback
Not available anymore.
If you look up start stop delete harness, you can find a similar one
Feel Increased hp?
kinda, more sound than anything. Still happy with it though
Call me a nitpicker, but I hate the orange light on the dash on all the time. Also I’m not too keen on Chinese cable ad ons while my car is still under warrantee. So I’ll pass on this one. Nevertheless great that you’re sharing. Thanks!
Yeah the light took some getting used to lol. Ill take that over my car turning on and off at every light though. I might see if there is a way to reprogram whatever module controls it to think it doesn't have it
depends on the legislation of your country, i think in most cases device like this won't void the whole warranty on your car...
You can also disconnect the wire near the bonnet release.
You would have to turn off notifications on the cluster so it won’t warn you it’s open. And my remote start wouldn’t work
Wheres the best place to pick these up at, toyota site was around $300?
LKQ or eBay. LKQ you gotta make sure to confirm with a pic that it’s the right one
Thanks Raul! Like I read in another comment, it really bugged me not to have variable speeds on the intermittent setting. I ordered the part, rewatched your video and was all done in about a half hour! Without some of your tips I likely would have broken some plastic parts. Thanks again man!
Glad it helped!!
Thanks a lot simpler than other videos. After you install the device, DO NOT PUSH THE DISABLE AUTO START BUTTON EVER! OR else have to disconnect and reconnect the wire again.
Interesting! Thanks for the heads up
why so? For me it just auto-disables it, and then I can push this button as usual, it just works as expected
Do you have a link to the braided line?
a.co/d/4fro9Vu
It’s just a decorative sleeve, not SS
Easy to do BUT another video says that doing this also deactivates the PRE-COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM. Not good.
Interesting, mine definitely still works. I haven't seen a fault code for that module either.
thx bro ...im buying one right now
How are these holding up for you?
So far so good! I am wanting to do a lift, so if I go the Eibach Spring route idk if they will work
@@eltumbleweed05 Good to hear. I'm on the fence between bags or springs. I rarely need the extra lift in the rear, but when I do, I do. Leaning towards bags due to the infrequency I'll need them, but I know I'd never have to worry about progressive springs leaking.
@@kc9fjb I keep them fully inflated all the time. Idk that i would say it "lifts" like springs do, but def makes sag less when loaded down
@@eltumbleweed05 Right, less sag is the goal, not really "lift". My hitch mounted cargo rack sits pretty low since the hitch itself is already below the bumper.
Love it man. Thanks for the install video! This will be my next upgrade! Do you have an IG?
I do! @power.up.garage
Putting it in sports mode disables my auto start stop on a 21 RAV4 XLE
I need this so badly. Having issues with a brand new rav4 because of this stupid feature. The item you bought is no longer available :(
I bet there’s another manufacturer that’s making them by now. eBay is a great place to look
Where do you run the air line? Is it on top of the muffler? Thank
I ran them over the heat shield of the muffler
I wanted to say thanks for putting this idea in my head. I received the part today and installed it earlier. I hated not having the intermittent ability. Great video.
Absolutely!
Thanks for the great video, I just completed the swap on my LE Hybrid. Any other LE upgrades you'd refommend?
Remote start! It’s better with an LE because it won’t shut off when you open the door
Can you post an updated link? This one does not work anymore.
I don't have an updated link to the exact one I used. They are a lot more options now, you may have to search XA50 RAV4
Could you tell me what size the mesh you got for the tube is? Also, do you carry an air compressor with you? I’ve been debating getting one since I’m installing the kit this weekend.
1/4". I do but haven't used it for the airbags. I pretty much keep them maxed out all the time
@@eltumbleweed05 Thanks bro, appreciate the video and info
@@eltumbleweed05 I installed the Airlift kit on my RAV4 yesterday. They are really squeaky! Do you have the same problem? If so, do you have any tips to resolve it? If not, I have to assume that it’s because I have aftermarket eibach springs on my vehicle.
@@potatogoestocollege I haven’t heard them really. What psi are you running?

Thanks that video made it really easy to change out.
Glad to hear that!
Anyone know if there's a similar connector on a 2018 highlander xle w/ SS
How do you remove the original metal handle?
Pull on the metal handle from the side you are removing and it will pop out
@@eltumbleweed05 thanks! Good to hear they just pop/pull out. I thought it might be harder than that & need to be cut off or something.
Stop start is bad for engine , starter, battery. It was developed for hybrids. Not supposed to be on full gas cars. The epa pays car manufacturers to put it in. You save 3-5% on gas but your car lasts half as long.
the EPA doesn't pay them. if they don't meet qualification they the car cant be sold in the US
It doesn’t shorten the starter life. The starter is designed to last 300k starts per Toyota.
Thanks for the info on the Vanguard rack!! The market is flooded with these racks now with Victory, UpTop, and Prinsu. A couple questions, why did you go with Victory over Prinsu? How do you like this rack after owning it for awhile now?
You're welcome! So I went with the Victory Rack because I liked how it uses stainless steel hardware and it didn't use plusnuts. I also liked the way it looks more than the Prinsu one and at the time of release it was cheaper than the Prinsu one. I still love it! I have a Apache 9800 case mounted to it all the tiime, and rotate between my snowboard rack, kayak pads, and traction boards.
@@eltumbleweed05 Great info thanks for the reply!!
@@eltumbleweed05 whats wrong with plus nuts?
@@joyridefiends when you set them you are supposed to put silicone between the plusnut and the body. When you assemble the rack and tighten the bolt into the plusnut, it can cause the plusnut to turn and break the silicone seal causing a leak.
@@eltumbleweed05 good point i can see that.. Thank you

Great install! Do you think it would work with a Ram mount ball setup? It seems like it should, so long as it's not some odd ball size.
Thanks! Hmmm maybe, what size is the ram mount ball?
They sent me everything short I was missing two or three of each nuts, bolts, and washers.
That sucks! Did you catch it before starting or mid install?
Where did you get the 3d print file for the camera
I made it
Can't this be turned off at the ECU level at the dealer? There should be a default setting for Auto Start/Stop
Nope. I checked both on Techstream (the Toyota OE software) and with aftermarket tools to see if it could be disabled
What’s your gas mileage with the rack on??
With the rack, box and bigger tires I get 24mpg

Whats up Kwayne!!!
Thanks for info. It is fantastic to know . I'll go and buy one for $30.
I hate that Stop Start feature too. It prematurely destroys the starter. Thanks for vid !#
Where is the evidence of this? Hyrbids, and a whole bunch of other cars have this feature. I think a lot of people have a misconception that the starters in new cars are made the same as the starters from 1970s
@@beexiong2995 Hybrids do not use the starter with auto start stop. The electric motors spin the engine to 1500 rpm which starts the engine
@@beexiong2995 wear on the engine more than a starter
No Chinese electronics needed. If you disconnect the electrical connector on the hood latch, auto start stop will no longer work. The hood latch switch is designed to disable when the hood is open for service. Unplugging the connector is the equivalent of turning off the switch when the hood is open. There's a "popup message" setting on your dash cluster that will turning off the "auto start stop unavailable" message on the dash once the wire is disconnected. Do those two things and you will never know the car ever had it. Takes like 5 minutes.
You’ll have to turn off notifications for any alerts on your cluster. Plus I’m planning to add remote start and it won’t work with that sensor disconnected
@@eltumbleweed05 don't know about remote start but you don't have to turn off popups. You just get a message saying it's unavailable every time it would have turned on. Not nearly as annoying as the feature itself. Also the popups I turned off seemed to be specific to start/stop only. Hopefully it's useful for people not interested in remote start and wiring Chinese electronics into their electrical system. Been working great for me so far.
Do you mean the connector to the latch under the actual hood? Not inside the cabin under the wheel, right? If so, do you just pull up on the little tab piece and squeeze the sides and pull it out?
@@dirkwiggler9294 yes the latch in the engine compartment. It's a little hard to remove the connector but when you disconnect it, it no longer works. It thinks the hood is open for service. Surprisingly there's no hood open warning when driving. I kind of expected that. However, after removal there is a message that says that it's unavailable every time it would have engaged. You can either ignore that or you can turn that message off under the popup messages in the settings menu. I would recommend taping the ends of the connectors to make them water tight. Maybe zip tie the dangling end so it doesn't hang down by the fan. Works on my '21 RAV4 XLE Premium. It throws no codes on a code reader. Can't vouch for other models, years or features but it works perfectly so far..
@@dirkwiggler9294 also, if you can get a zip tie around the actual electrical switch to hold it closed, it would be the same as disconnecting the wire. I tried but my fingers are to fat to fish it in there so I gave up.
New subscribed here! I have a 2020 xle. What wheels and rims do you have? Looks great!
Thanks!!! Wheels are AVID AV30’s and tires are Falken Wildpeak A/T’s
Quick question. Did you remove the headliner because of the OEM rails? I have an LE with no rails just the flush mounts. This would mean I wouldn't need to drop it and just pop the caps and install the mounts correct?
you would still need to drop it to hold the nut while you tighten the bolts
@@eltumbleweed05 right on! Debating on this or a front runner slimline. I just worry about the leaking and headliner dropping lol
@@-JMF916- if you don’t use plusnuts you shouldn’t have a problem with leaking
That is a great solution to a problem that should not exist. I hate auto start stop and also any extra lights that have no importance to distract my eyes on the gauge cluster. I wonder how many people are really difficult with Toyota sales about this auto start stop! I'm considering a 2021 RAV4 LE for my next vehicle and I'm going to tell the salesman that auto start stop needs to have this module or something like it installed for free from the dealership and the orange cluster light unplugged.
Goodluck with that
