2:50 From Unfinished Developer Commentary: [Displacer Pistol - Messy history]: "Besides the Xen grenades, there was another Aperture themed weapon planned for Entropy : Zero 2. It had a tumultuous history with twists and turns before unfortunately being cut from the game. It was going to be a failed prototype of the Portal Gun from Portal. The idea came from one of the first meetings I was part of after joining the team at the end of 2018. I had previously worked on restoring the flare gun in the Source SDK 2013, and I asked the team if we would have a use for the flare gun in EZ2. Trivvy suggested that instead of an actual flare gun, we use the incendiary weapon to represent a failed version of the Portal Gun. In Aperture Science fashion, 'it burns a hole in the fabric of space-time'. Kralich created a beautiful art asset for this portal pistol and we implemented the flare gun into the game. However, developers were very unhappy during playtesting with the performance of the flaregun. It was not very effective and in order to be believable as a broken portal gun, its effects would need to be completely reimplemented from scratch. I was personally very unhappy with the state of affairs regarding the portal gun. Rather than redesigning the incendiary weapon, I decided to try to create a brand new concept that would be fitting of the broken portal gun asset. I designed what I called 'the displacer pistol', a portable teleporter that would make any object or NPC it hit vanish only to reappear where it was shot next. The first shot was red to represent the orange portal, and then the next was blue. If players waited too long to teleport the object, it would reappear wherever it vanished from. The displacer pistol was part of Bad Cop's arsenal during the game's alpha testing phase. However, some problems surfaced. Since the portal pistol was always an afterthought to Bad Cop's journey, there was no introduction to show players how to use the weapon. It was just dropped into your hands. Worse yet, the story sequences in chapters 5 and 6 had issues with the displacer pistol's design. For example, what happens if you use it on Judith Mossman? You can use it cleverly to help her escape more quickly, which is good. But you can also use it to teleport her out of bounds and irreparably softlock yourself. If we were to prevent the displacer pistol from working on Judith Mossman.... why? Why couldn't it be used? There was no way to present the weapon consistently that wouldn't also open the game to softlock bugs. Between the potential of catastrophic bugs and the lack of a proper introduciton, we made the very difficult decision to leave the displacer pistol behind."

u can use the combine sniper in some custom maps iirc, it’s ammo icon is kinda fucked and it shows up as the stunstick icon

Pretty sure the manhack was broken for a while but then got fixed for modders/mappers to use, and i think the css weapons are like used in 1 extras map, and idk why but i think i might use the "portal" gun in some map
