really revs my engine
The NS line from Columbus to Cincinnati wouldn't work. Too many crossings. Would have slow down through London, Springfield, Dayton, Miamisburg, Middletown and Sharonville. Too many curve restrictions too.
I live in massachusetts. Never been to ohio.... No idea why this was recommended to me. I am so far the only person who watched this
Same but im from PA

This is awesome. For international travel (such as for taking Emirates, Qatar, Turkish, Etihad, Saudi(IAD only)), thousands of franklin county residents struggled for Chicago-ORD airport and Washington DC-IAD airport route trains. Connection from CMH to ORD, IAD not that great and very expensive. Heard about "Midwest Connect" that will run from Chicago to Pittsburg but a direct train service from Columbus to DC would be awesome.
The people want real rail, not trackless trams (bus) :)
11/9/2023 Leader ship is working together To save each other... I love volunteering to help the Needy, because everyone is Important in God's eyes.. AMEN 🙌

Passenger trains run best on their own lines as freight companies aren't too keen on sharing rails like they used to do. New, deducated lines and rights if way may be needed? Wasn't there a station configuration built into the convention center? What's old is new again as all larger cities were connected by trolleys, interurbans, and passenger trains. The carbon footprint is smaller. Would love to "jump on a train", ride the rails and be in another major U.S.A. in a short few hours rather than 6 hours plus.
To me this is just too little too late. I could wait 10-15 years for a reliable rail line in Columbus, or I could just move to Pittsburgh where the elected people decided providing reliable transit instead of making friends with the auto industry was a good idea 20 years ago. GOP hates public transit and kneecapped a good while ago to the point where the damage isn't gonna be undone in your lifetime.
The thumbnail suffers from the ticker headline
👎trackless trams
Only in Ohio
USA has lost 50+ years to enhance public transport infrastructure. Instead trillions of $$$ went to already fat pockets of corporations and wealthy and as much went to oil companies (most of them to Middle East) and turned in to thick clouds of smog.
And also building interstates instead of rail
Other routes: Cleveland-Indianapolis: Cleveland-Crestline-Marion-Bellefontaine-Muncie-Indianapolis Cleveland-Ft. Wayne: Cleveland-Lorain-Findlay-Ft. Wayne Toledo-Columbus: Toledo-Upper Sandusky-Marion-Deleware-Powell-Columbus, alternatively: Toledo-Bowling Green-Findlay-Kenton-Marysville-Hilliard-Columbus
Yes! Please make this happen!!! And a southern route from Detroit-Toledo-Dayton/Cincy-Lexington-Knoxville-Atlanta!!!
A Cleveland - Columbus - Dayton - Cincinnati Acela-like higher speed rail line would be great between these cities, especially since the mainline track between them is quite straight which is ideal for upgrading. The only barriers would be the cost and the freight companies.
HSR works better if there's *no* grade crossings
@@happyburger23 True, grade separation is key and something the American rail network has not fully realised the benefit of yet, from rail perspective (improved efficiency and safety) and even in appealing NIMBYs (they wont have to wait at crossings as much and the trains wont have to noisly honk horns so much). Mostly grade separating the existing line would not be infeasible. Rural roads can build bridges over the line or duck under it to limit the construction and realignment of the rail line itself, and in cities where the line ploughs through many small suburban streets, in some places these smaller streets can probably have the grade crossings removed and replaced with pedestrian crossings with cars rediverted to large roads which will bridge over or duck under the line. Of course in bigger urban areas there probably will need to be viaducts/cuttings built for the tracks to go under significant number of streets in one place which will be quite expensive. Complete grade separation would be hard to achieve unless we build true HSR (more like Cal HSR than Acela, although due to historic alignment Acela is mostly grade separated) but Ohio probably won't invest big in an option which still has a lot of opposition in the US unfortunately.
Too bad republicans always cost us more stopping projects their donors like the Koch's don't want. The last train was the National Limited which spent most of it's time going `10mph. I rode it. No lights, No food, No AC gee wonder why it had low demand. Yes Columbus wake up and get the train this time and do it right.
Columbus is the largest city in the country without passenger rail service so it would be great to see this happen!
Appreciate getting a peek into the life of someone who can help us all think about how to help make our community more accessible!
