18/12/2021: temperature inversion in the Lake District. Colder temperatures at lower altitudes, causing thick cloud in the valleys. This is the view from Englands highest mountain Scaffel Pike with clear views of neighbouring Scaffel, Wasdale Head, Kirk Fell, Great Gable and many other Lake District fells.

June 2nd 2019: climbing the Passo Gavia from Ponte Di Legno (the South side). The route had just been cleared for the Giro D'Italia (which ultimately didn't use it) so the roads snow was at it's highest along the road sides. The road was officially still closed so no cars, just a few cyclists and hikers. Plus a gopher and a goat!

Lovely video and serious ascent in one go! How did you train for it? I have no mountains near me, but I do a bit of running - like I’d do about 50km of running per week.
@@jamesspacer7994Thank you for the kind comment! I used running and cycling for fitness and felt well prepared. But you will need some experience and be comfortable on snowy mountains with crampons, etc
Great video mate
@@DunkTheHunk thank you!
this was a really detailed video. You made it look easy! just a quick question, how hard was the scramble between refuge rousse and gouter refuge? and what would you grade it as 1-3?
@waleedmukhtar2925 the scramble between the 2 huts is a real highlight of the route. You gain height quickly, about 600 meters in 2 hours. I would grade it a 1 as there is nothing technically difficult and there are fixed steel cables in place for the trickier bits. Tryfan or Crib Goch are more difficult. However it is good fun, the views are great, and there is a real sense of achievement reaching the Gouter ridge and seeing the snow and next phase of the route
Great video! I take it you have plenty of mountain experience to be able to complete this in one day?
@deanmurray7850 actually this was my first 4000m mountain! But I trained very hard and had a good level of fitness which was definitely necessary
absolutely mental! Big props to you for doing it!
Ein Spaziergang.....
Bravo 👍
do you trek from the bottom to top in b3 boots ?
Hi there, I used B2 boots for the whole trip and my feet were warm enough on the summit. I did bring some walking shoes but I didn't really use them and just put them in my bag.
Hello Drannerz I congratulate you on climbing Mont Blanc. Thank you for the wonderful film. This brings back many unforgettable memories. I wish you good mountain tours. With alpine greetings Raphael Wellig
Thank you! I was an incredible experience
Hello Drannerz Many thanks for your response. Yes, these experiences are fantastic. I wish you good mountain tours. With alpine greetings Raphael Wellig
Epic climb 🏔️🇫🇷and nicely documented too (4000 meters in one day is amazing) bravo 👏 Nice and humble too 👍🤠 Good to see the marmot go all the way with you too 👍 Best regards Simon
Haha! So glad you noticed the marmot! I took it up the mountain for my 5 year old son and gave it to him when I got back
Well done and your luck was in with weather. I'm planning next year over a few days to hopefully capture a sunrise summit on my 60th.
Enjoy! I would definitely recommend making the ascent over a couple of days with a night in one of the huts to acclimatise. Going to the summit in 1 day was very hard work!
Sadly I had to postpone but working up a new plan.
You made it look soo easy
Thank you!
Awesome Video! Can you tell me where the police is standing so that i can get trough there at night? I rly dont want to book nights at the mountain hotel lol
They were stood just by the Nid d'Aigle tram stop. If you're using the tram it would be quite hard to avoid them, but they wouldn't be there at night.
@@drannerzWhere and how did you do your previous aclimatation?
@@reborn3530 I didn't acclimatise. And I don't recommend this! I had to push through the altitude sickness
@@drannerz Wow! Insane.
I didn't realise there would be police up there. I'm trying to get documented before my trip. What's the point of the police? Not to allow anyone without reservation to go up or what?
Cracking video! I am doing the same trip myself next week, but online it says the mountain tram is not running this summer all the way to Le Nid d’Aigle, but guessing this wasn’t the case?
Hi there, there are currently a limited number of trams each day that go all the way to Nid d'Aigle, and they are only available to people with reservations at the mountain huts. If you go to the first 2 stops at Saint Gervais there are ticket offices where you can enquire and get the ticket you need to Nid d'Aigle. Good luck for your trip!
Decent video mate.
Thank you!
Decent video mate. Done lords rake a few times but not done The West Wall Traverse. Defo will now
Awesome mate, scary?
Thumbs up for the audio 😆
What camera did you use? Very clear, smooth footage
