Hi, I'm David
I built my first speaker being 15 Years old. Since then, I learned and taught myself quite a lot about designing and building speakers. I started an Instagram channel summer 2019 and as a first year anniversary I launched this RUclips channel.
I did an Internship in the Lautsprechershop Strassacker (Loudpeakershop) Summer 2020, and they kindly want to support me with my Social Media Channels.
Thanks to them I'm able to deliver you high quality content.
If you have any questions concerning my speaker designs or speaker stuff in general, feel free to ask.
I'm currently studying MEMS and due to that, projects take a while to completion, but I can promise you every single one of them will be worth waiting.

18Hz Subwoofer | 3000 € | 2x ScanSpeak 32W4878T00 | Cinematic Loudspeaker Build
Hi Guys, in this video, I'm building an impulse-compensated subwoofer for the student club (TIK) in Freiburg. I used the very best ScanSpeak driver for this, the 32W4878T00 and the Hypex Fusion Amp FA502 (2*500 Watt).
The Sub goes as low as 18Hz (-3dB) and through this improves the overall sound experience of the PA system. This makes a perfect combination of punchy and dynamic upper bass and absolute low end of the highest quality.

The long wait is finally over, this is my newest video. Join me with the build of the NEO Kyma speaker, featuring the two new and exceptional Wavecor drivers, the TW045WA01 tweeter and the WF152BD11 (Kevlar/Carbon fibre cone). The advanced tweeter combines a 22 mm textile dome with a 45 mm ceramic cone, offering a wide bandwidth and high efficiency. Its unique dual-piston design contributes to ...
Building a DIY concrete speaker | Cinematic build video
Просмотров 9 тыс.3 года назад
My plan was to build a high-end reference speaker cabinet. The only problem we had was the concrete mixture. The concrete didn't bind properly for over two weeks. The first cabinet we got out of the mold completely broke because of that. The second cabinet has major cracks, which cause instabilities. I will build this speaker with MDF and start a smaller concrete Project the next time. Thanks f...
Midas | Cinematic DIY Speaker Build | Wavecor

Midas is a floor standing loudspeaker with Wavecor drivers. The bass and midrange are handled by two excellent 18 cm (WF182BD04) chassis with lightweight air-dried paper cones. Despite its size, this driver offers a wonderful midrange resolution. The 30 mm dome TW030WA11 is the best. A waveguide relieves the tweeter at lower frequencies, which allows very low cut off frequencies of around 1-1,5...
Hades | Cinematic Subwoofer Speaker build | Wavecor Subwoofer and Hypex AMP

This is the first part of the "Hades" Subwoofer build. Usually Subwoofers are not very living room friendly, so I designed this Subwoofer to fit under a couch or in front of a Wall. In this build the Bass port is adjustable for developing purposes. The SW280WA03 is a 28 cm Subwoofer driver from Wavecor. As an Amp i'm using the 250 Watt single Channel Hypex Fusion FA251. Just for a future tip when you glue both pieces and brush it on with a throwaway brush you get more consistent results in a stronger bond Good job though Great video subscribed 🇨🇦👍
I subscribed but it's not letting me like the video 😂
What is the length of the bass reflex tube?

Hi David Please can u suggest a SB or peerless driver fir this king if performance I don’t get scan speak in my country Will Eminence lab 12 be able to do it
@@anandshah71 Sure, the "SB Acoustics 12" SB34SWPL76-4" is the closest, but obviously not as good as the scan speak 32W. But still the specs of the driver are great, especially for it’s price!
@@hififriend4512I'm thinking about doing a similar design for my home but I want to incorporate 2 passive (or more radiators as well I want to tune it So I get the lowest possible frequency I'm looking at making it a infrasonic subwoofer like Ascendo subwoofer that can play 5hz @105dB any advice vice?
Im working on a range of speakers that a built frol concrete and stainless steel
Hi David, how do you like these compared to the Wavecor SW275? The Wavecor are smaller diameter of course, but have low loss surrounds and a more linear suspension.
The SW275BD01 is about 3-4dB quieter and needs less cabinet volume (for 2x woofers 180 vs 270) and reach further down. But still performs extremely well. Concerning sound quality there isn’t a huge difference. But I can promise you that two SW275 is more than enough for most situations and two 32W are rather to much for most normal sized rooms. Talking about ported designs of course. I would probably recommend the Wavecor to most people because of the smaller enclosure. Keep in mind that the ports need quite a bit diameter (and therefore are very long) so you don’t get portnoise at max volume.
Fun to watch, can’t wait to check out more from your channel
Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed it :)
Awesome video! Great voice over! Loved it
Glad you enjoyed it!
Demo video please! Fantastic speakers
Sure thing, they are currently at the klang+ton Magazine for testing, but will do as soon as I get it back :)
i would love a sound demo video, thanks
Cheers, noted!
Excellent work. Thanks for sharing
Many thanks
Awesome video and nice build! Sound demo pleaase!
Thanks! Will do!
First of all, great video, keep them coming! Second, yes please sound demo videos!
On it!
That mix is way to thick for this application.
Not fair. We did not see the end results 🤣🥺 not fair at all guys
Hübsch
Dankeschön :)
hey man, i really like concrete speakers if you can afford the weight (i tend to move speakers around the house so weight for me is a no go), my cousin has a pre molded concrete factory, he says you could make 6 panels with a mesh inside and then assemble it like a wood speaker would be assembled (i'll add that you should use bracing, being concrete doesn't mean that it wouldn't resonate), i'll suscribe because i'm curious to see what project you do next. Greetings from Argentina.
Thank you for your nice comment :) If got a few projects down the line and will finish them soon. It's a lot of work tho. I really appreciate that you subscribed. Have a nice day
HiFi friend would like to see a cardiod type system like Dutch &dutch 8c
I’ll see what I can do. The next bookshelf I’m planning is using a 15cm Wavecor mid woofer and the Fountek Neo CD2.0
@@hififriend4512 you seem to be a wavecore fan 👍🏻 please try Purifi woofer it’s got no competition
I hope if you can do some builds on visaton and MONACOR drivers
I've done some builds with Visaton in the past (no videos for that sadly). I quite like the BG20 and the cheap drivers have quite good value. For Monacor I have to see what I can do. I like the looks of the SPX-32M with the wooden phase plug. Maybe a small and simple Fullrange or two way bookshelf speaker. I'm also interested in the SPH-174KE with the yellow Kevlar cone.
Wonderful new channel thanks to RUclips for showing me HiFIfriend any plans for a Purifi Woofer based build
Thanks for subscribing and watching, it really helps me out :D
Haven’t got any near future plans for a purifi woofer build. They are quite expensive. I still have a couple of other projects/videos in the making so stay tuned
What driver and crossover did you use. Also do you offer plans
The subwoofer is the SW280WA03 from Wavecor. The sub amp is a hypex fusion amp fa251. I will try to make the buildplan available on my website hififriend.com
@@hififriend4512 I have peerless visaton and MONACOR drivers will you give suggestions plans for my requirements I can pay for the service
@@anandshah71 sure, I can make cabinet suggestions. Making crossover suggestions, don’t make a lot of sense, they would just be starting points and you would need to optimise them.
@@hififriend4512 yes thank you will contact you . Ares I saw this sub on your site looks interesting do you have details or video
@@hififriend4512 can’t find the plan on your site also interested in your dual sub 17hz that you have on web site
Just checked today. No info on webpage. So how was the result?
Hi, thanks for asking. I still didn’t have the chance to install the sub at it’s destination, so there are no results so far. I will add an Artikel on my webpage as soon as I can. I will also have to translate the articles so it might take some time. I can mail you the CAD files and build plans if you like :)
@@hififriend4512 Oh, yes. I would like to have that.

Hi, sorry for answering that late, you can message me on Instagram: instagram.com/hifi_friend?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
To prevent breakage, especially in large and relatively thin slabs, it is better to add a fiberglass mesh in the space to be filled with concrete, as a reinforcement.
Thank you :) I've only used the smaller glass fibers. A major problem was that it took 2 weeks for the concrete to harden. When we removed it, it was still not hard enough in some places. And then the cracks formed. The next time I will build a bookshelf speaker and try out the fiber glass mesh.
It won't stop cracking. It will only stop it from falling apart when it cracks.
I'm no expert and haven't tried this myself, however my brother-in-law is a civil engineer who specialises in concrete corrosion (mainly bridges) and tells me one of the main factors that allows water into industrial concrete in the first place is the contractor has added more water to the mix than specified in order to make it easier to work with at the construction stage. Apparently concrete setting is a chemical reaction rather than the water 'drying out' and for optimal results requires an exact ratio of cement/ballast to water. I couldn't help but wonder whether your mix may have been too wet? I hope you don't give up, you showed great attention to detail constructing the mould, good luck in the future.
I read on a forum (can't remember wich) to use plaster reinforced with somekind of fiber instead of concrete altogether. It doesent crack the same way concrete can do. Concrete speakers seem like a good idea, but it's heavy, and highly impractical to work with. I have seen beautiful concrete horn speakers tho maynly horns for mid and high frequency drivers. All materials have they pros and cons tho.
@@PKWeaver74 thank you for your comment. Next time I will probably try to build a bookshelf speaker, if something goes wrong it wouldn't be as bad😅. We also added a fluid which lowers the waters surface tension an therefore the concrete gets more liquid and easier to work with. It also reduces the amount of water you need, so maybe that's true what you're saying. Another problem might be, that it was very cold at that time of the year (we still had snow) and I left it to rest in the garage. Anyway thanks a lot for your help.

Hallo habe dich gerade gefunden. Will mir deine Pläne bald kaufen! Kann man bei dir auch in Auftrag geben?
Du kannst bei strassacker den bausatz ohne gehäuse für ca 1600 euro pro stück kaufen oder ein fertiges paar für knapp 6000 euro
sound test? no? aight then...
Will do a sound test when the sub is installed. Due to Corona I couldn't install it, at it's destination...
