After living aboard my sailboat for the last 18 years , and 12 hurricanes, Milton just took down my main mast, make that 13, I can't see why, with all the overhangs, you'd be anywhere near that place. In a hurricane is know what to expect. You have no idea what could possibly be coming at you off those cliffs. Guess it's your ass. Seems pretty stupid to me. yep thats why you HAVE TO avoid "dry" riverbeds when campin/hiking, you never know, when the water comes back!

How starkly beautiful. Very few people seeing this vid will remember a 1968 movie called 'Planet of the Apes.' Most of the opening sequence was filmed in Lake Powell. Quite stunning.

Fred reading of others who commented in this similar situation…. Do you all not pay attention to the weather forecasts for your area, as well as notice the skies around you? These things don’t literally just come out of thin air! Pay attention to the skies around you and pay attention to the weather forecasts for a hundred miles around the area you’re going to be in! If you see bad clouds and bad weather anywhere in the skies… it’s time to pack up and get somewhere safer!

What planet is this?

I've been to Lake Powell during one of those storms and they can be intense. We were on a pontoon that sleep 11, and the wind blew this huge boat onto the shore which was just rock. It was amazing. And gorgeous. Everyone should go to LakePowell.

America has some insanely amazing spots. Despite the extreme weather, this looks absolutely beautiful.

I can now see why Flash was phased out for being too dangerous.

Went through one of these in Cookie Jar in the mid 70’s at night. So much sediment came in we had to cut the anchor rope to get loose in the morning. You could hear the waterfalls just like in this video. I miss Page and catching my first fish in Lake Powell.

Quite impressive landscape!

Water skied a slot canyon there in the 1990’s, below Navaho Mtn. Spectacular, cliffs on 3 sides, with the rims’ orange and yellow rocks lit up by the sun, and the warm, clear green water below. Well, a monsoon rain cloud that was building at the top of the peak started coming down right at us, faster and faster. Time to go! It was maybe 40 miles or so back to the marina. The race was on. Well, we soon lost, with whipping rain, chaotic waves, and lightning having closed in around us. At one point, our speedboat launched completely out of the water. I’ll never forget the whine of the rotor. Eventually, we made it back, shaken and stirred and soaking wet. Can’t believe we didn’t capsize. Wow, what a day. Mother Nature flexing her extremes of beauty and fury in one afternoon.

beautiful place, looks familiar to some other creeks/streams running along the Appalachian Mountain chains up/down the eastern United States. I've not lived in that area for many years now but I miss those places & right now the whole Fall Season it giving birth to the best coloration you might ever see..... Yup, I miss the whole area. peace & GB ALL

This makes me miss being out on the boat on Lake Mead. Of course summertime is Vegas' monsoon season so there were plenty of times we were caught out there in heavy rains. I loved it!!
