Добавлен 25 апр 2020
Thanks for checking us out. We're sincerely humbled. We're a group of friends (Craig, Jun, Ofer, Peter, and Paul) who decided that we'd challenge ourselves to satisfy our year around endless hunger for outdoor adventures by creating at least 19 videos during the COVID-19 shelter in place that we, and our friends, would enjoy watching. We love going camping in remote locations, and have explored areas in California (primarily), Oregon, Washington, and a little bit of Canada. We use our Jeeps, Toyota Tacomas, and Chevy ZR2 to share the load, and go out and explore. When we head out we invite all of our community with us and typically head out every six weeks with a group of 1/2 dozen to a dozen good friends. When we're back at home we're experimenting in weekly working sessions to learn about the electrics of our rigs and camping needs (like dual batteries, fridges, and lights), build custom storage and sleeping solutions, and optimize our rigs to not get stuck, and aid in recovery.
Sur Ron X Electric Dirt Bike and Skydio 2 Drone - 4K
Just in time for summer time camping we were able to get the Sur Ron electric dirt bike and the Skydio 2 drone. This video is of our second time out on the Sur-Ron bike and about the fifth flight with the Skydio 2. We purposefully went a bit long on a couple of these shots so you can see how the Skydio 2 performs (so well) before and after obstacles. The Skydio 2 flew completely autonomously to capture the footage you see in this video. Its obstacle avoidance abilities during this fast speed flight were top notch.
We're thrilled to be able to experience both the Sur-Ron and Skydio 2, and are happy to answer any questions.
Check your player for 4K playback availability.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Smittybilt Rear Fender Liner Installation
Where’s pt2
I may have missed it, but how much do one of these systems cost?
Hey there. The Yeti 500x is about $500 as is the Boulder 200. So it would put you back about $1000. That said, keep an eye out for deal, there are lots to be had. We just bought a foldable 200 watt panel from Goal Zero through an open box sale and got about 35% off and it’s in perfect condition.
Just checking to see if you guys are anywhere near the Chico area? I'm wanting to go to to Sourgrass, HighLakes, etc in the area, but don't know anyone doing anything but Fordyce and Rubicon (too much for me).
I know this video is 3 years old, but I recently bought a yeti goal zero 500x and a boulder 200 solar panel. I have no clue how to connect it, do I need another type of cable line? Please help. This is the only video I seen you pair a boulder 200 with a 500x. I hope you can help me out .
Hi there! You will need a connector that goes from Anderson to 8mm. Goal Zero sells them and I also think you can find some more inexpensive ones on Amazon.
Any issues with emissions? Nice Jeep
I just bought this and love it. I had to have my husband help me roll them back up though. :)
Thank you. Great vid.
Thanks Rob!
Can i use this panel with a jackery 1000 generator?
Hi Sam! If it has the same inputs you should be able to.
Thanks for the video!
1.5 year update. No follow-up video....?
Hi Jon. So far so great. No issues whatsoever. We also added rock lights to the sliders in our 2-door JK to light up the air up and down valve stems and that’s a huge help when doing so in the dark.
I have a 200x what panel is best?
Hi Jared. The best panel will likely be the one that provides near maximum allowed input for your Nomad, had a solid connection, and a size that works best for you. We’ve found those factors to be the most helpful when planning out that part of the kit.
ruclips.net/video/G38P56QymTY/видео.html I did a test and a review with my barbecue in the goal zero yeti 6000 X
Nice, I have the Nomad 200 version with the Yeti 1400.
Hi, how many hours does it need to be complete full?
Hi Paul. The total charge time will depend on the current state of charge of the battery, sun exposure, and draw from the battery for running gear. A quick calculation can be made based on the assumption of pulling in 120 watts of solar, and using a nominal amount of 50 watts. At that rate the Yeti 1,400 will charge up about 5% every hour.
Goal Zero Boulder 200 is the best investment I have made for my off grid cabin. Amazing!!
We’re finding that too. We recently camped in Utah for a week and used two of them to keep batteries charged for multiple vehicles. So great
The 400 is the same as the 500 in normal usage. The only difference is the surge-60-watt connector. To really see a major difference is to get a large unit.
I have owned one for 1 year now. It doesn’t hold a charge very good after just 3 uses and 1 year old. It drops to low 70% power after sitting, unused, for just 1 week. That was after fully charging the unit. I just wrote Goal Zero, I hope they take care of the issue. The drop seems unreasonable.
JC that is unusual for sure. Our Yetis hold a steady charge for weeks on end. We definitely recommend checking that all of the output ports are turned off, and contacting Goal Zero for support. They’re great at it.
Any experience with charging an e bike?
Hi Tetta. Absolutely. We have a few eBikes and charge their batteries on the go with the Yetis. Mostly our 1000x and 1,500x connected to the car kit and solar. Although either will do totally great simply on their own charging up an eBike one cycle. It’ll all depend on how long you’ll be for. Best of luck, keep riding, and let us know what solutions you came up with.
I use mine to brew coffee - Mini Keurig (more than for anything else) & it only takes 1% battery life for each cup. This thing is indeed a beast. My next goal is to get solar panels for it, but I usually don’t go below 75% life & that’s all of 3 hours to charge back to full. 👍🏻 Good review!
hI here!do you have any contact?there has a business enquiry for you!
Could u still daisy chain 2 Boulder 50s and charge the 500x?
Hi Acetigg. You definitely could. We’d recommend shooting Goal Zero a quick note on the best way to do that. (We currently have multiple panels charging our 150 and 1,500x and have experienced no issues over the past 18 months).
When you say it can chain with other panels, up to how many?
Hi! There won’t be a real limit if wired correctly and safely. We’d guess the power device would likely be your limiting factor.
I own two yeti batteries ( 1000, 1400) and prefer to recharge them with my Honda eu2200i. I can stay out for weeks on one gallon of gas.
How do you handle the Yeti when the yeti gets hot because you parked in the vehicle in the sun to run some errands? Mine kicks on it fans to try and cool off. Unfortunately, it can cool itself with hot air.
Hi Bradley! That’s a great question. Ours are housed in storage units we’ve built in our vehicles and that helps them stay cool year around. We do have a 12v fan our kids use, and we use to hurry up campfires when the wood is wet or thick. One solution could be to place one of those fans pointed at the Yeti when needed. It draws very little power and moves quite a bit of air.
Have you considered a portable diesel heater for your rig? I did a couple videos on the subject. If you never heard of such a thing, you may want to check them out.
Thanks for the suggestion! We’ve thought about those, and owned one for testing. Our preference for having a single source of power had led us to go all electric and so far we dig it. We use 12v mattress warmers for our beds and an occasional space heater for our camper when needed.
@@outdooradventuresteam5831 Cool. I may look into that as well. Cheers!!
I didnt know the 2.8 litew duramax came in the extended cab models?
I just watched this excellent review and wanted to throw a word of caution into this equation. I have a huge variety of GZ products ranging from lights through to a couple of the power packs ( 1 x yeti 150, 2 x yeti 400 agm and a yeti 400 lithium amongst a whole bunch of other products ) and I also have 1 x Boulder 50 and 2 x Boulder 100 panels which do a great job of charging my gear...BUT...I've had a 30' cable fail for no reason and just the day before yesterday, one of my Boulder 100 panels failed!!! I love my GZ products but long term ownership and usage ( all in a domestic environment and with careful handling ) have shown poor production values and earlier failure. I've been using my 2 x 100 panels to charge my devices and yeti Lithium 400 and run other items with great effect but this panel failure has thrown my trust in GZ...here in Australia, these panels can set us back up to $500 a piece! and the 30' cables are from $50 - $100...so when they fail within a 2 year period, it shows a serious lack of trust in investing in these pricey items...when they work, they're great...but how long will they last???? and sometimes GZ USA are great at responding to my concerns, but at other times, the silence is deafening...as for GZ Australia? I'm still learning about how good / bad they can be in terms of customer service... :(
Was 145 watts input from the panel with the 6 ft cable or the 30 ft extension? If it's without the extension than very disappointing. I see 150+ with my Nomad 200, no extension and winter sun.
Hi Manish. We’ve definitely seen incoming rates as high as 180 watts when we’re optimize the panel’s direction and glass cleanliness. Very high quality gear in our opinion. Be well
thanks
Thanks, good review
This is my first time on your channel. 100% my kind of stuff. I subscribed ! Sub me back if you like my content. Love the drone footage on this ! I like that you guys do not shy away from the technical routes. Again, cool channel 👍😎
Are the panels waterproof?
Hi Nico. Yes they are. Just gotta watch out for where the cable is plugged into and ensure there is chance of water around those contacts.
Really great review! Loved the different scenarios you showed! Nice job.
Thank you Eric!
Loving the content. Keep up the good work! Do you know of smzeus”dot”com!!? You should use it to help your videos rank better in the search!
I'm getting ready to purchase a yeti 1500x. 3rd party extension cord connectors for the Boulder 200 solar panel. Who are some good retailers I can look at for the extension cord that's Compatible with yeti and solar panels
Hi William White! Apologies for the delay. We’ve been thrilled with Goal Zero’s Anderson extension cords as well as the 8mm ones. We recommend running Anderson all the way, and if needed the Anderson to 8mm adaptor at the end (if going into a link)
goal zero yeti 6000x portable power station coming soon
Yep! We just received our 1,500X this past week and will be comparing it to our 1,000 and 3,000. Video coming soon :)
Can you charge both front and rear at the same time?
On the Power Stations (Yeti 1,000 and above) the capability exists to easily charge simultaneously from multiple sources into multiple inputs. The 200X and 500X will accept a single incoming charging source, and not more than one. We hope that helps.
Would it be possible to charge a yeti 400 and a 500x at the same time with the Boulder 200?
Hi Bryan. Thanks for the great question! There is likely some efficient way to rig up an Andersen power pole splitter to run power to both power stations. What you could do right away (and we’ve done this to keep our Yeti 150 always charged up to 100% using our Yeti 3,000 that is connected to solar) is plug in the solar panel to the larger capacity input power station then use the 110v outlet on that station and the standard 110v charger to charge the smaller capacity power station. You will have a loss of power to convert from 12v to 110v but we’ve found that to not be an issue for our use. In our use case where the Yeti 3,000 is always on solar and at 100% we feel pretty good about having it keep our smaller Yeti charged up. We do the same with our Goal Zero lights. When the power goes out we pull our yeti 150 and Goal Zero lights into the house and get things lit up pretty quickly, then assess if we need to run the 3,000 for appliances and small devices like our modem and router. We hope that helps and if you come up with great ways to rig yours up please share with us. We’re always learning. Best! Ofer @ Outdoor Adventures Team.
Woah! Impressive riding and flying ;)
Many thanks for the kind note Skydio team! We’re thinking about our next fun shooting opportunity. We’re wide open for ideas.
Send those guys (outdoor adventures team) a 2nd Skydio and let Skydio track Skydio track rider. 🤟🏽. Would be cool... #justsayin
This review is excellent and gave me ample information to feel confident in my expected purchase. Thank you!!
Great! Glad it was helpful and thanks for the comment.
Hey man! Thanks for the vid! I just got the front ones, and I was thinking the same about not using the included rivets. I’m wondering though what size self tapping screws you used for the front inner fenders? Link or info? Thanks man!
Hey there! Absolutely. I am super happy I used them. I did the Pro Comp rock light install after the I installed the liners and had to take them out. Would have sucked with their rivets. Here is the link from Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002ZPEX6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I did do small pilot holes so the screws had an easier time going in. It was really smooth. Good luck!
Outdoor Adventures Team thanks! What size drill bit did you use for your pilot holes?
No problem! I think it was a 3/32 if I am remembering correctly. The lower corner toward the rear was hard to get a decent angle on but the rest was good. Mock fit it a bit before you drill in.
Hello, On the brochure, it is announced 60W AC power supply. My GZ Yeti 200X was delivered with a AC Power Supply 48W only... What about yours ? Thanks
Thanks for the question! Interesting, hadn't looked but yes, 48w here too. That said, I haven't used wall power for it as I keep it topped off with a 100 watt solar panel. The panel charges it really fast.
@@outdooradventuresteam5831 Thank you for your answer On Goal Zero website, about YETI 200X, in chapter "3 ways to charge..." it is written "Plug it into the wall. Fully recharges in 4 hours using included 60W power supply, or plug in with the Yeti X 120W Power Supply to halve that charge time." www.goalzero.com/shop/portable-power/goal-zero-yeti-200x/ So, this is a bit tricky : 60w announced / 48w delivered
Yeah, I would say that we have a case to reach out to Goal Zero and ask why what we were shipped doesn't seem to match marketing. We will reach out on our side and see what we hear back as well.
Well, following up here. We took the 48 watt charger it came with and plugged it into my Yeti 500x which displays the incoming and outgoing wattage. It was charging consistently at 55 watts. On the GZ site they say that the 60 watt charger brings in 57 watts so it looks like we are good, the 48 watt charger sends ~55-57 watts to the unit.
@@outdooradventuresteam5831 Thank you for testing. I really appreciate. Unfortunately, i don't have tools to test the output power of my AC adapter. I trust your testing. Whatever, this is not very nice from GZ to provide a 48W, as the generator could accept 120W. It's petty, especially considering the very high price of the YETI 200.
That obstacle avoidance is absolutely amazing! Blown away! I crashed my drone so many times and this thing flies itself!? 🤩
The Skydio 2, especially with the Skydio Beacon, make the flying carefree and really fun. We can hardly wait til the next adventure.
Is this obstacle avoidance for DJI or similar or Manual flying pilot ? Thanks
For this video the Skydio 2 is flying itself without a pilot. It's leveraging obstacle avoidance in an advanced manner. We launched the Skydio 2 using the Skydio Beacon and it automatically set to follow the rider (Craig). The Skydio 2 will follow the visual target and use GPS to follow the Skydio Beacon. It's cool to see, particularly in the shot through the trees, when it loses visual it uses GPS to find the rider again. Way cool!
It's amazing to see the footage the Skydio 2 can capture while flying autonomously. Already looking forward to more trips with this drone.

I just bought 2 sets of these thinking I would double up in the wheel wells then under each door. How bright is one kit?
Thanks for the question. They are pretty bright. If you have 1 pointing down centrally in both the front and back you probably don’t need to double up in the wheel wells. We’ll try to get the follow up posted soon to give an idea.
I thought I heard something about the 8mm wiring only being able to carry 150W of power, so I think the Boulder 200 might be limited a bit in terms of output. It's still very good, but with a larger Yeti with an APP connector, I think you might be able to get more out of it.
You are correct, his limitation here is not the panel, I reviewed this a while back and was getting 188 watts.
First the pressurized water tank on your Chevy, now this wonderfully helpful and compact tool; thanks for the great tips for getting outfitted for camping.
Thanks, it’s really one of our favorite new trail gadgets.
