how does Tangent handle second shots on Par 5s? Particularly where I a=can't reach the green in 2. I can't see a way of separating them from Approach shots that fall short of the green
Man I’m trying - but some of my targets just don’t make sense… I obeyed the caddy today on a hole where I had to hit over trees and carry over another set of trees…I actually crushed it but couldn’t find my ball…
Shot me a screen shot of anything strange and I'll take a look. Always tweaking and improving edge cases.
This has got to be one of the best Apple Watch golf apps for complete tracking that I've seen! Is there a way to maybe mark a shot right after it happens in the app as penalty/OB so there is less tinkering with the score after the hole?
Thanks for the kudos! Never gets old hearing that. There is not currently a way to add the 'penalty' right after a shot, but if you hit two shots from the same location, you can tap on the icon for the first shot to 'confirm' it before hitting the re-tee. That way it'll mark two shots from the same location. When you enter score and the penalty, it'll give you the option to automatically add the penalty shot after whichever shot it needs to be.
How do you record a "rescue" or "punch out" type of shot, with a 5 iron lets say, so it doesn't mess up your distance/dispersion info for that club?
Change the lie to 'Recovery' and that distance for the club will not count against you. Also, the smart distance calculations are pretty good at throwing out outliers anyway... but the 'recovery' lie is specifically meant for shots where you cannot hit a stock shot.
I'm not sure why more apps don't do something similar with showing your typical club dispersion (not just distance). I've been using Grint, very polished and professional look that it has but it is little cumbersome to shot track and doesn't do the club dispersion. I'll give this a shot my next time out. Thanks!
Love this video🔥🔥 so many take away!!! I started taking more club and I think that’s gonna help me..especially around 140-190.. I’m sometimes clubbing up 2 or more as I don’t hit it perfect distances all the time…and tangent is proud of me for it😂😂😂😂

The AI caddie has become sentient. Reverse psychology.
So you manually have to select which club and enter your score?
Not exactly. The app will uses AI and learning to guess which club you hit. Over time it should be >90% correct. If it's wrong, its a quick adjustment to nudge up or down a club. Just play with the app running in the background and it does the heavy lifting. Enter your score after the hole. Free to try. Check it out.

The app automatically tracks with whatever devices you have. If you have just a phone, it’ll use that. If you have an Apple Watch, even better, it’ll use that too. There are a few tutorials that show how it works on the channel. It’s free to download. Check it out.

I heard you can actually try to hit the ball with the high toe of the club and it’ll come out find.. very unorthodox but I seen someone do it… it disrupts the sand and the ball comes straight out..🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️

Interesting and well thought out app by the look of it. Are the drills suitable for using on a range or a home practice net with or without a launch monitor such as as the Garmin R10?
We have drills that can be done anywhere as you imply. They can be done at a range (with or without a launch monitor) with simple tap interfaces to log results. Many can be done at home hitting into a net. We are adding launch monitor .csv direct import as users share .csv files with us and we are working towards direct integration with partners. Steady improvement.

So, I have used the app and after watching this video I think I am going to continue to use the free version and let it help track. Watching you means you human and make mistakes like me, so this is one of the best videos I have seen with tangent. I have a free trail of Arccos and have heard mixed reviews of it. Tangent has been really good during a round. There is more to it that I need to get use to and look more into. Again I love this video out of all videos I have seen about this app.

I heard about this app on a podcast and just downloaded it today. I’m gonna give it a trial run and see how I like it. I’m super intrigued by the automatic shot tracking. The app on iPhone does look a bit busy and cluttered so it’d be nice if it had a little cleaner more refined look. I’m hopeful it will live up to the early hype. Now I just need to get out on the course again. I’ve been using Swing U for the past few years and it’s pretty great! It doesn’t have auto shot tracking though which is a feature I’ve really been wanting. It also works well using the watch. I’m still using a gen 4 Watch and it has plenty of battery to last 18 holes.
Just done the update Dallas and it looks awesome. I've got 39 rounds logged in the app now and love the ease at which I can assess my performances. I'm starting to use more of the functions to log impact, concentration, lie etc but I'm still conscious of my playing partners frowns as I fiddle with my watch. I'll get quicker at it though!
This is an awesome breakdown of stats data. I used Arccos for a year, and in my opinion it beats it hands down for accessibility. Great job!

I tried the app in the early, early days of PAR and wasn't really feeling it. Partially my fault as I was trying every feature and paying more attention to the app than the golf. Will be trying again tomorrow over at The Resort in Ft Worth which is a very good "accuracy, course management" course if you've never been out this way.
Nice. There are a lot of features, but the app works best when you only use it when you need it. Let me know how it goes. I've never played that track, but I am nearby!

Absolutely! Your watch should last for the entire round. If you have an older watch, I suggest enabling 'low power mode' in your Tangent Preferences. This will use your phone's GPS when nearby and will dramatically improve battery life. I can play over 36 holes in low power mode.
How does it know what club you're using for each shot?
You seed it with distances when you start your account and then it learns the more you use it with AI. It makes suggestions / guesses for what club to use and if you override it, you just change it via watch or phone and it learns your preferences and capabilities.
