In hopes of everyone being able to be out and about soon, I took a make up bag from the drugstore and re-purposed it to hold crochet supplies.

DMC 026: How to Get Patterns in Braille

Disclaimer: this is just my preferred method of getting my patterns in braille. I do not speak for all blind people, and I realize that this is not the only way to do it. I just love this organization so much, and there’s nothing I love more than combining two of my passions: braille and Crochet. To learn more about ABLE, visit their website at www.ablenow.org

DMC 004: Stitch Count and Finishing Off for Blind Beginners
This is my go-to video. I always go back to this one every time I have to change my yarn.
That video was so helpful I am partially cited in both eyes and I really struggle with visual activities and sewing and crocheting and so on so this video really helped me as you added a lot of description and you don’t need to fix anything as your skill in describing what you are doing at the same time as you’re doing it is perfect
Thank you for your tutorial xx
Hey! Thank you so much for this. I am trying to help my mother who is 97 re-learn to crochet. You look wonderful to me. I am so grateful to you for making this series. Many many thanks.
Clover is a Japanese brand?
Thank you I’m going to get the supplies and try this
I have seen your video several times and you keep telling people to look and see and we are vision impaired, so that is extremely difficult. We leave comments for a reason.
Hi Danial it is Sunday at Wyman Wednesday September I mean excuse me it is Wednesday, December 20, 2023 the time is what time is it 824 my name is Rhonda Roper and I am from Springfield Illinois I was one thing to know if you knew anything about knitting because I am trying to learn how to knit
This is Tuesday said a December excuse me the 2023 it’s 19 December I am my name is Rhonda Roeper I am from Springfield Illinois and I wanted to know if you do any knitting not crochet but knitting because I am trying to learn how to knit and I am blind I’m told well I’m visually impaired I guess I can see some shadows but basically need to feel❤
Thank you so much, Danielle! I am legally blind and was able to make a slip knot, following your video and verbal instructions. I’m looking forward to lesson two!😊
I’m so happy you made this video. I am a seeing person who is trying to teach a blind woman to crochet. Thank you sooooo much
And a my blind friends
I want to teach my mostly blind left handed husband to crochet.
Thank you so much for the video and you are beautiful just the way god made you god bless you 🙏🏻👏🏻
Hi your good dont worry i can see a little hope to learn how
Hi, I'm a sighted person and was asked if I would be willing to teach a blind or visually impaired person how to crochet. I really want to help her but it is a new area for me. I'm depending on your videos to guide me. My first challenge is that I'm right handed and she is left handed. I thought it might work if she sits facing me, with her hands placed on mine, to 'see' what I'm saying. Please advise me. Also, I'll direct her to your videos and perhaps just assist when needed. I really do not want to mess-up this opportunity. Thanks. Adele
I know the treble crochet as follows: yarn over twice an insert through the Stitch. Yarn over pull through the stitch on the hook. Yarn over pull through two loops on the hook. Yarn over again pull through two loops on the hook. Yarn over a final time and pull through two loops on the hook. You are left with one loop on the hook. I think my account is one off because I am not counting the most recent yarn over as that is what I am pulling through the loops. It seems like it's the same thing just said in a different way. Love these videos. I just have to keep in mind that the verbal instructions are a little different than what I'm used to hearing. 💜
Wonderfully detailed explanation! Thank you so much! 😃
Hi. I'm attempting to teach myself and my friend who is totally blind. She is also left handed. Could you please do a left handed video. It would be so helpful. Thank you. Hope to catch it soon
A friend has crochet videos and she is right handed but used a feature to reverse the video tutorial to display for left-handers. Her YT channel name is Bethintx1 [Beth in Texas 1]. I was over 60 when I finally learned to do basic crochet and her methods were best for me. Since then I have lost most of my vision so other priorities have led me to put creative arts aside. I applaud you for doing YT videos to help others.
JP means Japan
I can see but I was curious how blind people might learn how to crochet. Thank you for an awesome video to show me how a blind person can learn how to crochet. And you are beautiful. Fuck them trolls!
Ty so much for sharing. I have already lost most my sight and found out that my sight is going faster than my dr thought. I crochet and wasn’t sure if i woukd be able to still do that. Thank you so much for showing me that i will still be able to do that. And you are beautiful dear lady. Don’t let anyone tell you different. Looking forward to more videos.
Please make more videos Crochet.
I swear by the Susan Bates hooks. I started out with Boye hooks, but then my great aunt, one of you friends and my mom have all gotten me multiple sets of Susan Bates hooks. The Susan Bates hook set that I have has a case that came with it. I organize my hooks the smallest to largest, organized from the left side of the case to the right side, which has the largest. Susan Bates hooks also ha; a nice even design, and that really helps me to have even tension. The hook does most of the tension work for me, which I find easier for me. I love your videos.
Danielle, I love the idea of putting abl of your crochet suplies in a makeup bag. I have a crochet hook set from Susan Bates that comes with a case. I organize the hooks starting from the left where the smallest size is, and then going bigger in size as I go to the right. I like Susan Bates hooks because the hook has an even design. I also have sensory processing disorder, ' and one of the ways it manifests for me is I have a hard time accurately judging how much pressure to put on things. In crochet terminology, I have a hard time with tension on the yarn, so the Susan Bates hook does most of that work for me because it is an even designs. I find all the neat textures of yarn and the stitches they produce really satisfying too. You should go sheck out Fiber Flux's RUclips channel. She is wonderful at describing things, just as you are. Keep up the awesome videos. :)
HEY, Danielle. I am a blind crocheter, and I just stumbled across your channel. I follow many other crocheters on RUclips, and I am proud to say that now, you are one of them. :) I have been crocheting for ten years now, and I love doing it. It is so relaxing and fun. I love spreading this craft to others and have taught some of my blind friends to crochet as well. I also give projects that I have made to friends and family, and my mom gifts many of my projects to vision teachers that she supervises. Keep the awesome videos coming! Discovering your channel made my day and put the biggest smile on my face!
Thanks 😊 for this video
I am really glad to get this video, I have a blind students and i wanted to teach them crocheting some easy patterns and if she is interested in it i can give her more advanced once.
Bless you. You too are an inspiration.
I am a totally blind girl who loves arts and crafts and I cannot find like super accessible content. then I found this! Thankyou. This helps me alot!
Would the chain stitch that you mentioned at the end of a row be called a turning chain? Or is that something else?
I do it where you pinch the tail between your thumb and forefinger. Wrap it twice around your index finger. Grab the hoop closest to your knuckle, and pull itover the one nearest to your fingertip. Then pull the one that was nearest your fingertip over the one that was nearest to your knuckle to where it comes over the tip of your finger to the underside of it, but so that the other one remains on the top of your finger. And then pull on the tail and the working yarn to form your slipknot around your finger. And then slide it off and then put it around your hook. Plus one other way.
thank you so much this is wonderful advice I will use it to teach my friend
Please make some more videos for beginners. This video is really helpful.
Thank you for these videos! I am legally blind and enjoy the close up view. Especially the wide view videos
I had trouble seeing all you moves when demo For beginners and vision impaired you might slow it down so can see the motions Thank you
Demo too fast to watch what your doing and some difficult seeing thru fingers in the way
If your doing this for beginners as well visually impaired slow down. You showed few stitches slow. If you have something important to say that's not about actual stitch you are demonstrating then stop stitching for that moment. Otherwise turn video off or pause finish row then turn camera back on when ready to talk or demo again. Hope this helps
I’m have low vision and I’ve always wanted to learn to crochet and thanks for your videos, there is hope for me, I always start something and get frustrated so I feel that I never finish anything that I want. I’m so excited thanks again. There is hope for me 🤩
This is so incredible! How can we get in touch with you, Danielle?
I really want to thank you for making these videos I am legally blind and have been trying to learn to crochet so I’m very excited it would be helpful if you turned the phone or tablet on its side so that you would get a landscape view rather than a portrait I think you so much for helping to teach others who have vision impairments to craft it’s so relaxing and it really helps to reduce anxiety God bless you
Thank you for making these videos! So many people can benefit from this. I have an elderly friend who has become bling due to diabetes and I want to teach her to crochet 🧶 to help her boredom and anxiety
You are a great friend. I know your friend appreciates you very much
Thank you very much I’m actually learning how to crochet! I also am totally blind

Fantastic video! Thank you so much. It’s given me the confidence to try.
You are amazing! Watching you makes me want to crochet
Thank you Momz! I love you!!
Informative. Thanks
Hello fello blind crochet sister. Laine sent me your way. I have the Unseen Strands youtube channel but I watch videos here under this acct instead. I so enjoy what you have started here. I have started diving more into accessibility on my channel but overall your doing a much better job of it than I ever could I have not found a lot better success rate on apps and their accessability on android I am curious on how you organize your stash. I have recently gotten into the way around tagging system, and it is such a blessing in my life so far, but I'm always curious to what others are doing
Well hello stitching sister! ☺️ I’m loving your videos! I wish I could make socks! So far, I just organize by color but I’d like to rethink that. I’ve got a wall of storage bins to keep it all separate. I kind of want to try the pen friend one of these days.
You look amazing, love the curls! 🥰
I love you Curl Friend!!! 💜💜💜💜
