Escaping France During COVID-19 | My Experience
Просмотров 5074 года назад
So I have spent the past 6 months living in France, but as the COVID-19 situation began to worsen, I soon realised it was the safest option to come back home. I thought I would document the story as I made my way back home. Although this was stressful for me, I know that so many people are in so much more stressful situations than myself, so my thoughts go out to these people. I hope you are al...

Week in the life of an English Language Assistant in France | TAPIF
Просмотров 4,2 тыс.5 лет назад
So I am currently taking part in a program where I am working in a town in France as an English language assistant. I thought I would share with you what my average week is like for anyone interested in applying. Despite the adjustment of living in a VERY small town, stress of finding somewhere to live and adjusting to the mountain life, this has been such a unique experience. If you want to do...
Uprooting my life and moving to France? ✈️🌍

Documenting my experiences as I move from Australia to a tiny town in the French alps to work as a language assistant. I will admit the first few days of being in a new town and not knowing any were not the easiest, but since then I have had so many great experiences and met so many amazing people.

Earlier this year I went to Japan and while I was there I saw sooo many intriguing snacks and lollies. So I thought I would buy a few that I found and taste some of them!
Thrift Transformation: Two-Piece Top and Skirt ❤

Hello! Welcome to my first RUclips video where I attempt to re-sew a two-piece red top and skirt into something new. I will admit this video took me far too long to complete but I got there in the end and I am pretty happy with the result. If you would like to see more videos be sure to subscribe (I promise my next video will not be a six-month extended project). Inspired by Coolirpa: ruclips.n...
Hello ,such a beautiful video, quick question here,,after I'm done with the program? How can i stay in France? Do i have to make another visa application ?
(Any library in France) Is it possible to acquire knowledge of computer science and engineering, economics, international politics and geography entirely in English in a library in France, or does this knowledge require knowledge of French?
nice place
호주 남서부의 아름다운 모습 감사합니다.! 영상 응원합니다.
How was your first day in class like?
Thank you for the information. I am thinking of doing this but I don't speak french. I am a German national living in the Uk. I want to use the program to learn French.
hi just came across your video thanks for sharing such a nice video, what's the name of this town, please? thanks
The town is called Embrun 🙂
@@thegeefeed7157 thanks
Location ?
I'm in LOVE with your view.
heyy in case one gets a student accomodation, are they given their own room or is it shared???
Oh my gosh, a town of 6,000 people would seem huge to me! Here in Iowa an average sized town is just over 1,000 residents. So, from my perspective, that's a pretty large town!
Wow I couldn't imagine 1,000! You must know everyone in the town!
Miss. I have a question, while working as a asst teaching job in France, can we work some where else as a part time job??? Because this salary 790/- Euros per month is very less after paying rent, transport, food and etc.
Hi! I did some extra freelance work online for the company I worked for back home so this really helped me. My school also had a program where you could help out with homework and tutoring with the students and you could earn extra money that way. The two other assistants in my town both did that, although I think it was only a few extra hours each month. I heard some other people did private tutoring or lived as au pairs to cover the accommodation and help with the cost. You'd just have to check how it works with the visa as the assistant job is the main focus :)
Thanks for the update! One question is, is working part time or other sources is depend upon visa?? Or any one do party time job????
@@kirankumar-yf9yh No worries! I'm not 100% sure to be honest. I had a British passport so at the time it counted as the EU, which meant I didn't have to get a visa. You might need to check with your organiser :)
I love this! Resonates with me, thanks for the information
Greetings from moroco good Luck ♥️
may i know the email add of the company thanks
Why did you stop uploading videos? I love your personality ! ❤️
Thank you!! I have been wanting to make some more and have some footage I haven't gotten around to editing, so will try to! 😁
@@thegeefeed7157 I can relate. Editing takes alot of time. Du courage!
great video! very informative. thanks so so much <3
I'm glad! ❤
You are fat
My goodness! Hope you got out quickly and safely. My cousin was also an assistant so he applied to renew so he stayed with his girlfriend in England. Isn't it amazing how many things we accumulate in such a short time (I was also an assistant before)
I'm doing TAPIF now! I can't agree enough about the accommodation -- I think everything is compounded by Covid for this year, but I've been here for almost two weeks and I am having a pretty difficult time finding an apartment hahah
I can't imagine the added stress of covid! Definitely checkout leboncoin, Facebook market place and notice boards at your school/local supermarkets to see if anything pops up. Good luck!! 😊
Thanks for sharing your experience! Were you able to make many friends through the program? How would you recommend meeting people/ roommates?
Do you have any tips for applying? I am REALLY nervous about writing my personal statement.
may I ask how much did you save up overall before doing tapif? because so far, I saved up $5,000 USD.... I'm hoping that I can use some of the money to travel throughout Europe despite the Covid-19 restrictions..
did you say, we have to supply two months rent?! before we get our first paycheck? that is insane b/c they said we'll have one month of no pay and we would have to pay our first month's rent. That is too much..... I recently got accepted in Bellegarde-Sur-Valserine in Ain about 2h30 from Lyon, and it is literally in the middle of nowhere. Everyhting is bloody expensive in this small town for it being in the middle of nowhere...
Hello. Do you have Instagram?
Hey, My schedule was somewhat similar too!! :) Did you know that it's possible to get the assistant contract renewed multiple times? Here is my article about Assistant d'anglais en France prettymorningsinfrance.com/2018/08/07/extend-your-english-assistant-contract/
Hey!!! Are you still working there as an assistant? I read your blog and just lovvveedd it.
@@madhurimahalder3166 I have a teaching job now. I teach in the south of France. :)
Why did you stop making videos, Georgia. I enjoyed them because you have a soothing voice and the videos are nice in general. If you're more active on Instagram, what's your handle? When's the next video coming out?
What town is this?
Are all of the utilities included in your rent?
Thanks for the informative video! What sort of transportation did you use to commute to work?
I lived in walking distance to my school so I would usually walk! But I know some other assistants decided to live in the next town over because it was bigger so there was both a bus and a train 🙂
Hey Gee I’m going to France in October to be a language assistant and found this very useful and interesting! I am also vegan and you look so healthy really evident you don’t eat meat! Have a good day
Hey! Thanks for your lovely comment, and good luck for October! You'll have such an amazing time. I was a bit worried about finding vegan foods in France but actually there are lots of different soy yoghurts and other vegan products we don't get in Australia, which is always exciting to try 😊
I'm also going this october, i'll be going to Amiens
So helpful, thank you so much!
where are you from ??
This was so helpful , thank you!! I’ve just been told that I’m going to the Grenoble region 😊
great
you are fabulous
im not going to lie this makes me very nervous to apply...
No don't be nervous! I'd definitely recommend it. But I know that a lot of people have had good and bad experiences. Overall I'm so glad I did this program, especially getting to travel around Europe and meeting lots of new people. I was super lucky with how friendly everyone at my school was and in my town, makes me really miss it! So if you're considering it, I'd go for it!
thanks for uploading this it's really helpful!
Hi, I am vegan as well, and I was wondering how was your experience being vegan, like is it easy to find options, and do you bring your own food to school?
Really interesting video! I'm still tossing up about whether to do the program in France or Spain
You could always do one and then the other country the next year! Spain would be awesome too!
Are you allowed to do remote jobs in addition to TAPIF? Like doing graphic design?
in secret!
Great video! thank you for it. But could you please tell me how did you rent an apartment , was it before going to France like online, or when you got there? and how about the prices? Thank sin advanced!
Hey! I waited until I got to France, so I had an Airbnb booked before hand. For me this was a better option because I got to see it in person and I lived with another assistant in my town 🙂 I found the apartment through a notice board they had at my school and one of the teachers helped me call and organise it all.
I was studying abroad in Lyon, and had to return home as well. I can relate to your story with the crazy stressful travels home, but I'm happy to hear you're home safe! Hope you get to return to France soon! Your videos have inspired me to look into TAPIF in the future.
Thanks so much! Yeah I think it was a crazy time for all of us living abroad! I visited Lyon a few times and absolutely loved it 😍 I'd definitely recommend doing the program if you're thinking of going back! Stay safe 😊
AMAZING video! I'm so interested in doing the TAPIF program. I love that you were put in a small ski town! Sounds like a dream 😍. Do they have schools all over the country?
It's such a good experience I definitely recommend it! And yeah there are schools all over the country so you select your preference of the region in France you'd like to be placed in 😊
Heyy! Your videos are amazing! I went to France for a 5 month exchange and got back in January. I want to move to France when I finish school! Also Your Aunty Trish knows me... she said for me to watch your videos ! Xx
This was a really informative video and you have such a wonderful personality 🤗 I can't wait to see more videos from you!
Aww thank you so much, such a lovely comment! And thanks for watching 💕😁😁
Bon courage!!!!
Omg are you vegan !?
Yes I am!! 💕 I'm thinking actually I might make a video with tips on finding vegan food in France, stuff you can get from the supermarket, eating out, etc.
@@thegeefeed7157 that's a great idea! I'm vegan too ! When I was in France it was relatively easy but where I live in the US it's pretty difficult so about any other city with more options is great!
Oh cool!! For me it's the opposite hahaha back home in Perth pretty much everywhere has vegan options. If you ever get the chance to go to Berlin that is the best city for vegan food, I was in heaven 😍😍
@@thegeefeed7157 aww man hope you are fairing well there ! Thanks for the suggestion, I've been looking out for a new travel destination!
Hi, thanks for the video, I enjoyed hearing about your experiences moving to France. However, I think your video lacked/for future videos it would be really good to include: - Why you got into teaching English in France? - What made you want to move to France? - An introduction of who you are - your name, age and why you created a RUclips channel before the video - What life was like in Australia and comparisons to France - What your background was e.g are you studying in Uni, or graduate etc. - Plans for the year? Without these questions answered it felt that your video lacked context, it would’ve been good to know a bit about your story and I’m confident others probably felt the same way, all the best with your channel
Hi thanks so much for your feedback it's really helpful to know what people would like to see 😊 I will definitely make another video addressing some of the things you mentioned!
The Gee Feed no problem - have a great day
Wow those mountains look amazing!😍😍 really enjoyed watching this!✨
