In the video it says that if he is NOT present to sign at the tax office it must be notarized. He just needs to take the form and get it notarized as he’s gifting it to you then you take that along with title and application for title into your tax office and you’re good to go.

I would call the TXDMV regional office. The policy is that you can not apply for a salvage title if the car is undamaged stolen recovery or only hail damage. If you already have a salvage title issued by another state I believe it’s going to stay a salvage title. I believe the Texas law does not “ undo” what another state has already decided. It is a salvage title already.

That is a popular question I get all the time. I would say call your local county tax office and ask them what they want you to do. Most counties will tell you to write in “repairs completed prior to ownership” and sign. That being said your county may be different

Is one of them dead? If they are alive they have to sign. If one of them is dead the other one has to take the title to the tax office and get the title in their name alone and then when that title comes in then they can sell the car.

No idea. You can call the county tax office. We do title transfers every week and the state no longer requires signatures on front. You can look through the dmv website but I didn’t find anything too specific.

You can either send the form from one of you to the other to be notarized and then on to her or you can both do a form and get it notarized and both send it to her. She can turn in two if they’re notarized. One of y’all should also sign the application for title as seller.

You have to have the ID of the person whose name the truck is in. If he’s not alive to sign it you can’t do it because you would be forging his signature which is a felony.

Yep. If you can produce the legal owner to sign off a bonded title is your only option. I have videos on that too.

@@buxtonautosales yes sir I have seen that video as well. As you mentioned the legal owner is whose name is on the registration/title. That man is deceased so how can he sign off on bonded? Am I out of luck or is there a way for the grandson to sign off legally?

You don’t have to fill this form out if it’s a California car.

You will sign your name as the company is not a person and then provide the buyer a business card or quick note on company letter head and you’ll be good to go.

No, $6000 plus ttl. I check comps with my dealer software and on Craigslist and marketplace to make sure I’m in line. Yeah here in Texas we tell people to file the Notification of Vehicle Transfer which informs the state you’ve sold the car. Most people don’t actually do it. Is what it is.

You’re fine. Texas recently started tracking mileage for longer than ten years. If it doesn’t say anything about being rebuilt or flood or other various remarks it’s absolutely fine.

Yeah this was sort of a follow up to my how to do a bonded title video where I say this is a process for Texas. I’m sure there are many different rules depending on your state.

If it’s a document the DMV has made the document must be filled out entirely.

You should call your local tax office that you plan to go to. I believe he signs his name as he is the executor and not the person whose name is the title. The state will need the executor docs to know he can sign off.

If he did not adopt his wife’s children then only his two biological children would sign. It only needs to be notarized if they are not signing it at the tax office with an employee watching. Also you will want to verify there is no recorded lien if you do not have the original title.

The title does not have to be notarized.

You can just write on a piece of paper the parts bought, bought from so in so off marketplace, and paid whatever. It’ll be fine.

@@buxtonautosales thanks for the response. Another question i have is… can i get a title transfer if i owe any traffic tickets ? And i got my title from copart like 3 days ago. If you could make a video on how to fill a title before you take it to get it transferred to your name would be great.

I don’t know about traffic tickets. You can call your county tax office. If you look at the other videos I have posted I have them on buying/selling your car and where to sign your title, how to fill out the application for title, etc.

I suspect they have an in house painter and if you have the skill set the material is probably $200 to repaint that hood and roof. Only 103k on it they’ll probably try to get $8-10k but I feel like I made my profit if they can too that’s fine.

Sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine that. You do not need it notarized since you will be signing it in front of a county tax assessor employee. You always need the 130 U when applying for a new title. You will want to go get it inspected before you do this as all cars need to have an inspection no more than 90 days prior to title transfer which this technically is.

There is a spot for them on the form you should write it in if you know them.

If he gets it notarized he would not need to come but I think it would be smarter to have him come with you and not pay him until the tax office says the paperwork is good. I would also call the dmv and give them the vin and ask them to verify there is no recorded lien.

@buxtonautosales I see, yeah for sure I'll get him to come with me to the tax office that way we can make sure everything is good to go. As far as there being a lien on it, I had verified there is no lien on the vehicle. Thank you for your help.

Good question. I guess you could use the mileage from the last inspection if you can’t get the odometer to turn on.

The title fee is $33. The sales tax is. 6.25% - but you should call your county and ask them. If the car is going into your name and you’re a child or spouse of the deceased they may not tax you. If they are going to it will be taxed on the value you paid for it or the presumptive value whichever is higher. Registration is $100. Your county tax assessor can tell you for sure.
