Rail Lines - Trains Through London - 19th January 2025
Welcome back - so, after the excitment of Saturday (a 2-0 win), Sunday was going to be a trip along Memory Lane; as a family, we would take our summer holidays in Clacton and, as we didn't drive, we would get the train frmo Liverpool Street, however the train didn't stop until we'd left London - as a child, it was brilliant. What was up there? What was life like outside these stations? Knowing the Elizabeth Line was so frequent made it easy to do, so I set off after breakfast (which was just an excuse to walk to Farringdon from the Hotel), to jump on the train to Liverpool Street, which is where things start...

Rail Lines - Trains Through London - 18th January 2025

Welcome back - time for the main reason for my weekend visit, a football match (don't worry, it'll barely feature). My plan was simple: to take as many trains as possible and visit as many stations for the first time, ending up near the ground before kick-off time, however I discovered a few days before travelling down that the line between Clapham Junction and Wimbledon was closed for engineer...

Hello, and welcome to something new - part Spotters Video, part Travelogue, allow me to explain. Although I live in the West Midlands, I'm from London and support a London-based football team, so will make a day trip to watch them. The chance to meet up with a couple of friends convinced me to make a weekend of it, so I thought "why not have some fun?", so I decided to visit as many stations I'...

Happy New Year - my first video of 2025 takes me back to Stafford, for a lovely session of videoing; there were a surprising amount of trains passing each other, leading to a decent number of double (and even one triple) shots, so join me on a very cold 13th January 2025, for a wonderful mix of passenger and freight, as well as a few surprises....

This is a slightly different video; my intention had been to enjoy a day at Tamworth, after the wonderful session in September however, on arrival, I discovered the West Coast Main Line had been closed due to a fatality at Rugeley Trent Valley, and wouldn't open for an hour. I was still able to shoot a lot of content before and after the reopening, which included the unit involved in the fatali...

Tamworth is a fascinating place, as it's that rarity on the British Railway system - a split-level station: 2 platforms downstairs on the West Coast Main Line, and 2 upstairs for CrossCountry services to/from Birmingham. This meant a lot of stair climbing to take in the varirty of trains in this video, shot on a glorious, warm, and sunny 17th September 2024. Stocklist: 00:32 - 350 406/321 (Lond...

In my main "Trains Through Stafford Station 7th August 2024" video, I mentioned that there'd been a good number of Test Trains making their way through. Back to daytime videoing, and a linchtime visit to Stafford Station on a grey, warm, and largely dry 7th August 2024, a session that produced a more than pleasing mix of passenger & freight, a light engine - and a lot of Test Trains, but they're being kept back for a Bonus Video! Rail Lines - Trains on the West Coast - 14th-17th July 2023
I commute everyday in week from stafford and talking to avanti staff ...avanti dont want use the placefor there trains and want run straight through from stoke and miss stafford all together for there trains ....
They may find an issue there, as Stafford is an important station (2nd busiest is Staffordshire) and I can't see the DfT allowing InterCity services to bypass them completely. At least they won't be around for much longer.
You have a sub from me also, a well presented video with running codes and loco/unit numbers which helps.
Thank you, that's very nice - having seen how other railway channels do it, I wanted to appeal to those with a professional interest (the headcode/fleet details) and the casual viewer (the more conversational entries). You may be surprised to know I use nothing more than a mobile phone and free software to make these - it's all down to how you use them!
Nice selection and presentation, you have a sub from me😊
Thank you, I try to make it look almost professional.
i do love a nice train. sadly travelling on them is a less pleasant experience.
I was trainspotting at Stafford on the 18th November!! Great video surprised seeing fright on the fast line in the morning though
Thank you - it was a good mix, and your're right, it did make a change from Platforms 4/5 (the snow likely contributed, so I guess they were just trying to get them through).
Great video !
Thank you, very much app[reciated.
And it will be very helpful for me
Bye 323 I know I’ve miss the farewell tour but I’m thinking of you! See you later 😊
Sorry you couldn't make it, but happy I allowed you to see them off.
@@MiaGracewillowandmaddie ty
@@MidlandMark I used to see them at New Street when I was going down to Devon on the class 220 or 221
@@MidlandMark the reason was that I couldn’t make it to the farewell tour to say Byee to the class 323! Im so sure I’m gonna miss them !
I miss them so much I want to go on one but I can’t now 😢😢😢😢😢😢
They're still running with Northern
@@MidlandMark but I don’t go on northern though
Sadly
that's a lot of signs
Agreed - and somewhere in there is the ACTUAL one! Charming area, more people should visit it.
1:47 I thing this is a style of Taiwan railway.
@@samkingyu1 Thank you for that - it's why I said "Cantonese-style" because ther were no specific markings, so couldn't pin it down any more than that.
Fantastic day plenty of mildland red buses to see and lots of people
Why do UK locomotives look so ugly?
Compared to what/where?
happy spotting mister 💯
Nicely made video - with wonderful RE sounds!
Thank you - I make a point of letting the machines do the talking.
Beatiuful video, greetings 👍🚂🏅
Great video, nice content well shot and informative captions. Well done for braving the weather too. Thank you for posting, I have hit the like button.🙂👍👍👍
Thank you, I took the decision from the start to do captions rather that speech, let the natural sound come though (plus, I hate my voice). Feel free to smash the like button on some of my other videos...
Were the 730s going Crewe missed 4 yesterday there good video I like Stafford
Yes, they were on a Stafford<>Crewe test run. And thank you for the like, much appreciated, Stafford is a great station (and nice town).
The station looks great👍👍Nice trains footages. Well done
Thank you, very much appreciated.
And people are just fine with a mechanical “Baal” ? I don’t get it bro
It's a Bull.
🥲🦺⭐️👌and the 56 shots
Thank you - seeing an underrated Loco is always a bonus (hope the engine noises were acceptable).
I always wanted to do some night videos but all my videos seemed to come out so grainy I don't know how you get yours from clear. I'm shooting in 4k but that still doesn't seem to help.
To be honest, and you're not going to believe this... I shoot all videos on my Mobile Phone! It just works fairly well in low light (though I thought it could have been better) - the light was pretty poor from about shot 6 onwards.
Another brilliant video...quite a mix of freight 😊
Thank you - Stafford is just a good spot.
@@MidlandMark best I get myself to Stafford then .
@@annatrindall9829 Recommend it - and the Town Centre's only a few minutes walk (via a very pretty park).
Amazing railway activit. Outstanding video👌👌👌 👍👍2️⃣👍👍
That's very kind, thank you.
Excellent captures, nice lighting! 👍☀
Thank you, much appreciated.
Update - the missing journey indicator was 66542 on the 6D51 Crewe Basford Hall - Toton North Yard
Nice upload! Cheers😊
Thanks for the visit
This is the reason that us Brummies wanted the Commonwealth Games Bull to be on permanent display in Birmingham City Center, the fact that crowds flock to see him like in this video
He certainly caught the imagination - I think people didn't appreciate just how big he was.
Woow 😯😯awesome my friend👌👌👍👍 👍👍9️⃣👍👍
Thank you - I'm not old enough to remember them, just enjoy the classics.
Great capture BIG LIKE👍👍
Any part in particular?
@@MidlandMark ok
😄👍BIG LIKE!
Thank you!
Seriously awful buses and the beginning of the end of British bus manufacturing.. ... what followed was equally if not more awful. Total rattle traps
2,600 vehicles produced was "seriously awful"?
Nbbbbbbbbbb
Nice captures..!
Thanks a lot 😊
JUst subscribed!!! Great video buddy!!!
Nicely done Mark!
Thank you - it was rathyer unintended, but worked out okay.
Great catch. Interesting video😃⤴️⤴️
Thank you - it was luck, really. The train was broken when I arrived in Stafford, the rescue engine arrived before I needed to go to Crewe, and I did not notice I had overtaken it!
wow
Station kaizan
Electric ware kaizan
Nice capture of so many trains passing by! Where is this shot at?
A mix of Rugeley Trent Valley (1st half) & Stafford (2nd half)
why is there a 720 on the line?
Most new stock is tested on the WCML (a lot of the fitting out is done in Crewe & Wembley).
Wonderful video😃⤴️⤴️
Thank you 🤗Very much appreciated.
Lovely video - thanks for the website reference, too.
No problem, see you next year.
Do they run on battery power for the whole of this new section? I was there last week but forgot to look. Why was the section along Corporation Street and towards the Grand Central stop reconstructed a year or two ago when it had only been opened a few years before. When the Wolverhampton Station extension opens what will the service pattern be? Will some trams serve St. George’s and others the railway station or will all trams serve both termini, reversing at one to reach the other?
Hello, Stephen. I'll double-check when I pop into town tomorrow, as the section between BrindleyPlace and Five Ways is wired, so will confirm whether they run on batteries along the whole section (using the intermediate section for emergency top-ups) or not. The section along Corporation Street was rebuilt as part of the authorisation to build the Digbeth extension; the actual work is the installation of the triangle junction at Bull Street, but TfWM decided to bring forward scheduled maintainance & upgrading work, to avoid having to close it again further down the line (no pun intended...). The Wolverhampton service pattern will be a 10/4tph peak split between Station/St.Georges, 4/2tph off-peak (they've not installed a triangle junction).
Hello, Stephen. Right, after a slight problem (due to industrial action), I can confirm that the catenary between BrindleyPlace and Five Ways IS used in service, so the trams work: under power to Grand Central, on batteries 3 stops to BrindleyPlace, under power 1 stop to Five Ways, on batteries 1 stop to Edgbaston Village (getting another top-up from the wires at the terminus).
