Wally, thank you for sharing your video. I was a college student living with my parents and brothers in Commack at the time. We lost power for a week but otherwise were very lucky.

When I lived in Church Hill in Richmond we would have a neighbor block party called High on the Hog and cooked up barbecue and some how a thousand of our best friends would show up and we had bands to play all day and Bill played there

I was 13 and living in Huntington, we had the eye as well. Our neighborhood looked a lot like yours after the storm. Downed trees and power lines and such. 48 hours or so without power which wasn't as bad as some areas! I had a paper route and actually delivered the papers that morning, although my dad took me in the car to deliver them.

I was 8 living in SE Louisiana and saw a lot of news footage about Gloria. Ironically, my area was hit by Hurricane Elena not too long before Gloria came calling. Yes, I remember taping windows too but folks don't do that any more. Nice video.

Gonna miss these guys. Watched them perform countless shows over a 44+ year period. Their last show at Katie's of Smithtown was so bittersweet. It was their last show but it was probably their best and longest show of their career. Fortunately I have a good amount of material of theirs that I can still listen to 👍🎸💙

I was 8 almost 9 at this time in 1985, lived in Babylon and the power was out for weeks. There was maybe 2/3 hours it was really scary. Trees falling down, debris flying and power went down before the eye of the storm hit us so we were truly in the dark to what was happening beside out our window.
