Those used to give me headaches when I used to live in Japan. The first summer I spent there, that sound drove me completely mad. I was a little kid, but I used to get angry each time I heard them. XD
u need to be born there to be used to it.
@@TheAcadianGuy I got used to it. It just took me time. I'm autistic, it's mostly because of that. I'm hyper sensitive (sounds, textures, emotions...), so the sound of cicadas used to be very very loud for my little sensitive ears the first few weeks. The next year was better because it came gradually and I got techniques to avoid hearing them for too long but it did not bother me as much as before. Now I can spend the summer without being bothered ☺️

Excellent video! Isn't it fascinating how the cicadas move their abdomens when they make their sound?
I'm from Portugal, and unfortunately, I don't have any cicadas near the place I live. Even though you used an anti-wind protection on your micro, it's still possible to hear some of it, which is very good, the cicada's sound plus the wind's. You did an excellent job :). It reminds me of France, when I went there, "cigales" were everywhere, it's was just astonishing!
Such a perfect sound.
