hillermand being able to do such a confincing brittish accent and also having a thick american accent is such a mind fuck. which one is his real accent? they are both really convincing.
Terrance Knapp was born in London in 1932 and never lost his accent

Mahalo for this treasure! I grew up as a teen 60's surfing family living on rip between Laniakea & Himalayas ... and went Waialua High. I live Kona now as NS & town is way too much for me. But Hale'iwa and NS will always be closest to my heart and home for me.
Glad you enjoyed the video. I was there also from '63
Mahalo Phil for ULing this excellent program! 🤙 I’ve never been inside of Washington Place and it was great to see some of it. BTW, Jean Ariyoshi was a class act and a damn good looking woman.
Mahalo for sharing this amazing history of Hana. As a resident of Hana, it is good that there still is the push back for progress. Still a simple village with lots of Aloha. Seeing the original Hasagawa General Store and how much Neil looks like his father Harry was interesting. Aloha!
Niihau supposedly to now has no water or electricity??
multumesc
Pay off a corrupt King to buy an island paradise and then ban everybody from seeing it except your small, privileged family, keep the natives ignorant, and then make a video about how everyone loves you.
I wish some rich family bought the other islands
Que lindo ver artistas como Milton Nascimento , Sandra ❤ que pérola
Wow, what a jewel! Thank you so much! While studying hula with Kumu Raylene at Kaname'e 2002 was so fortunate to meet and talk with Kindy. And had learned about some of the artists here ... but was too green to fully comprehend the treasures of their time they left us. And did not know much about Parker ... again, thank you so much!
I grew up on this wonderful island in the 1960's and early 1970's, in Kaunakakai and Ho'olehua. So many great memories, and such deep respect of the island and people. Though my family and I no longer live in Hawai'i, Moloka'i in particular, we still consider ourselves kama'aina.
Visit Perris Auto Speedway America's premier Clay oval !!! 😊
I grew up in Kohala (go Cowboys!!) Rode my horse all over the North end of the island. Spent a lot of time in Pololu Valley and often hiked or rode the mules in to Honokani iki with Uncle Kindy and Uncle Dale. Shopped at Nakahara's, Naito's, Domingo's and Takata stores. Hung out on Parker Ranch and Kahua Ranch. Learned to swim at Mahukona and Hapuna Beach. Learned to drive down at Upolu airport. Thank you Mr Abalos! Was taught to dance Hula and Tahitian by Margaret Tablit. Absolutely loved the people of Kohala, the music, the flowers, the tradewinds, the sugar cane fields, the foods and the variety of cultures. Kohala will always be home... my place of comfort and beautiful memories.
My hanai grandma... aunti Anna Kale'ehuahi ...so sweet to see her smiling face !
Mahalo, glory day's 🏄♀️ 🌊 🏄♂️ 🌊
Nice video! As I write this, it is January 2024. I've been a permanent full-time resident of Molokai since March 2019. Molokai is still far less developed than "Big Island" (the Island of Hawaii), Maui, Oahu, and Kauai. Molokai is a wonderful place to live. "The Friendly Island" is a great nickname for Molokai, as it has the friendliest people I've ever lived amongst. Living here amongst the native Hawaiians truly is a blessing. Andy McKane, Maunaloa, Molokai.
Loved seeing my beautiful Tutu Pelekai in this video. Our family house too. Luukia Pelekai is my great grandma.
Sweet Lady Recorded her in1988
Dang it looks more crowded then than now!
curious,... I posted this about 12 years ago,... where did You get Your recording? Mine, unfortunately was taken from a VHS tape I recorded when the program aired. Yours is much cleaner.
btw... I am right flank, front row in pretty much every clip of the marching band, and far left of all other clips showing the showband playing Bass Trombone. The right flank, at the end of the video, behind me (left side in the recording ) Lisa Smith, idk ? {sorry, gettin old.. lol}, Harry Evans, James Gastello, Alan Kendrick and Mark Shumate on Tuba.
This one is also shown in widescreen format, with many of the graphics cut off at the bottom. The original was shot in 4:3 format.
Beautyful! No government there! Wish was same for Maui! Maybe one day things will change!
Excellent interview. R.I.P. Higgins.
I love stuff like this, I wish the algorithm would help expose it to more people. It’s time for another revival…

My family started a farm just mauka of the Waimanalo Beach Park in 1948. I worked on the farm while attending school at UH. I left Hawaii in 1953. The farm is still there in 2023, but the Hawaiian Homestead is now between the farm and the park.
Seems that Mr. Knapp could have been a credible stand-in for Hillerman's Higgins.....and he's really British!
i was living in Haleiwa during this time glassing surfboards for Bill Barnfield cruising my old 4 door green 74 valiant " Da War Pony " seeing this sure makes it feels so so long ago ,, i remember the the bypass going in and the market place being built in a strange way that was kind of the end to the old town ,,back then u could go out Mokuleia side and camp / surf and not see anyone for days the sand and ocean were so clean it was so unbelievable ,,
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@5:15 I see a Giraffe 🦒 running thru plains I never knew Molokai had giraffe
An African-style safari existed here on land owned by Molokai Ranch. That was before my wife and I first came to Molokai (as residents) in 2017. We initially had a condo and lived here just part of each year. In March 2019 we purchased a house and sold our condo. We've lived here with our love for the island and its people growing each day since first coming to Molokai. In my opinion, Molokai is easily the best of Hawaii. Andy McKane, 22 January 2024, Maunaloa, Molokai.
No more anymore
Calms my spirit brings me back to that place when the Keiki played and kupuna loved them, I can remember when we were youngsters it was a good time then ❤❤
Molokai is no longer like this. This video displays what Molokai used to be in the " good old days". Now it's totally different
Everything privately owned is cared for better than government owned. This is a glaring example . Look at how poorly Oahu is managed…..it’s a complete dump. I know, I live on Oahu.
What's the music's name in 7:34 with Jerry bird?
Very good. Jerry BIRD is incredible
