Everything privately owned is cared for better than government owned. This is a glaring example . Look at how poorly Oahu is managed…..it’s a complete dump. I know, I live on Oahu.

I am on vacation in Kauai as I type this comment. In my travels I noticed this island in the distance. Curiosity got the best of me so I researched. So glad I did! What a fascinating history and story. The fact that this family and the native residence have worked and fought diligently to preserve the culture and the natural existence of this island is a class act by any humans I've ever heard of. Thanks for sharing this story.

Saw him 2 nights in a row @ The University of Hawaii. For free! He was doing some kind of National Living Treasure tour traveling the country. I’ve seen some “big names” in my time like Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Rolling Stones, James Brown, on and on. Brownie was one of my all time favorites. If not my favorite. 🌴😎🌈Aloha 🤙🏼

Brownie was a greatly underrated singer and guitarist. Sonny Terry tended to get more attention because the harmonica is a more attention grabbing instrument. They were wonderful together as long as they remained friends. Once they stopped being friends they weren't so good together.

One visit to Hawaii, you'll be hooked. A totally different vibe and feel. I feel the king knew his people would face the outside world eventually. Glad to see the Hawaiians holding onto their culture. Local areas of the islands are the most beautiful. Forget the resorts, support the locals. Although the resorts do support the locals, pennies to the dollar.

Wow! I am just blown away! I saw Brownie McGhee in the early eighties in Vienna, but I was always sad that I have no video from the concert. This wonderful piece is the closest to my memory. It shows Brownie just I have seen him play! Any chance there is more pieces from these recordings?? Wonderful ! Thank you so much!
