I don't care abt this vid
A great 3.0 lesson
Why did it look like it was a ping pong table at first???
I thought the same exact thing
Cool
Cool
He's right. 4.0 can bang. So to beat them and get to 4.5 you need to protect. Play drops and resets. Get to the kitchen line. Aggressive dinks and patience and find that opening.
this guys is cringe
so how do you place the ball on the opposing court if you're keeping your head down?
Best coaches! Amazing tips and support, and wish you two best of luck in your teaching clinics!
Thank you coach! Philosophically, I strongly believe banging is the only way to play When the dinks begin it gets absolutely soft and my game is killed Is there a way I can continue banging against a dink? I hate myself and lose sleep when I’m forced to dink back Cheers
so not the brake the wrist in the starting position, only break it at the close of the shot?
Good to see .ore from you.
I'm an optometrist and I've been preaching this to my fellow pickleball players for quite a while. Does anyone pay attention? Not many.
"You cant hit the ball in the kitchen until it drops" I correct so may people trying to say it as you did. No clue why people say that.
you can't volley the ball when you're in the kitchen. Or, if you're in the kitchen, you can only hit the ball after it has bounced. Or, if you volley the ball when you're in the kitchen then you lose the point.
cmon Matty...get a set of clip mics. looks like you are holding a joint. terrible video.
Now do a Bert.
First!
if you are truly ambidextrous, it is ALL upside and the epitome of balance. This is being a dual threat - true the middle can clack paddles, but the upside is double the surface area when they shoot down the middle, aka, most likely shot from opponents. I'll admit, switching for normal people is not recommended, but if you are truly ambidextrous, go for it.
Like the hair. Good tip re: head still and giving ball air in order to get to the net.Thx.
Excellent, I believe it. Now if I can only remember to do it!
Thank you very much for this timely reminder. Getting clear protective glasses for indoor play has been on my list to get. I guess I could use my pistol shooting safety glasses in the mean time. I got hit with a tennis ball in the eye but wearing sun glasses. Still had a black eye for over two weeks from the rim of the glasses around the eye.
I wonder if regular eye glasses with with high index lens is enough...
After the 3rd time of getting hit on the face with the pickle ball, I bought safety glasses and 💯 wear them every time while on the court.
Great in theory, but when the game starts, I completely “loose my mind!”
Your backhand is way too long and is a bad example for new students. Compact strokes = accurate shots.
I only switch when there's a shot way wide and I'm not going to make a backhand. Nailed three beauties just yesterday. I switch all the time in badminton and quite ambi, so nbd. It's just another tool in the chest
Use this shot to deter the opponent who is deliberately crowding the middle trying to distract you, the server
Well, I'm curious! Tell us more!👍👍
😆
🙄 I hope these poor souls didn't fork over any money for this tip.
Hmm, with succesful lobbers I go with aggresive drives always keeping them low, hitting more to thier backhand, always speeding it up at the net,,taking thier game away. They may get a couple successful lobs in, but not enough to win. I've noticed a lot of lobbers avoid high octane play,,not all! Lately I've watched some matches where both teams did almost all lobs back in forth with other and enjoyed that style of play so much, to where they only wanted to play with others that wanted to play the same way. Maybe there should be lobber tourneys in the future,,since I've noticed they don't like my mode of play. My self training has been this, be an all arounder, don't get to trapped or to involved in what will take your all around game away, "the chess game".
??
This video sucks.
Some of us stay in the transition area because of ptsd from being hit on the face at the kitchen line 🤕
Foot Fault at the 1:00 minute mark!! 😂
Thank you sooo much for a GREAT tip.
Straight to the point 🙌👏
I played a 15 point game recently where, for the entire match, my partner was iced out, and 99% of the hits were in my direction (after the serves). Why? Because I was the weaker player and my opponents were jerks. I was at the kitchen line, so it wasn't my court position. Sometimes, you are matched up with toddlers who just want easy wins instead of playing games where all players are involved.
omg, this happens so much. I don't understand why you would just pick on one player. Were you guys in a tournament or was this rec ball?
@@Bergarita a women league at Lifetime Fitness. Some of the players are jerks.
@@AnnMittif there’s a medal or 1st, 2nd, 3rd involved, it’s not necessarily “rec games” anymore. Don’t play up if you don’t want to get targeted.
Ya man, it's like, they are playing to win or something... Next time just say you are not gonna keep scores. It's weird that some people wants to play a "fair" game, but let's make it not competitive. Oh wait this is pickleball so can probably make up a rule like, every other player have to take turn hitting the ball - you know, like table tennis doubles rules - which on one hand, makes doubles ping pong very interesting, but I'm sure then there will be complainers about - Oooo you mean I actually have to MOVE now? This was the whole reason I didn't want to play tennis...
@@zeruth467 🤪😂
Great on calling for a switch for someone not as agile as they once were.
On occasion I will be at the kitchen line with paddle up protecting my face or upper body and the other team player, also at the kitchen line, will bang the ball at my face. I have my paddle up and try to be ready for this shot but I cannot help but flinch. How can I get over this fear of fast bangers targeting my face or head? I am a 70 year old lady playing for about a year and am doing well otherwise. Also, where I play a lot of people, older and young do a lot of lobs. I try to return them softly into the kitchen.
Wearing protective eyeglasses may diminish how much you flinch when people hit it hard at you.
I play with beginners PB players who are afraid to stand up at the kitchen line either before the serve or during the entire game. It's frustrating trying to explain the game strategy, but they are afraid of getting hit in the face.
Didn't know distractions were against the rules. Good point stating that in a video. ✔️
Simple but great idea. Decide before the game starts, who will take the middle. Thanks.
Great advice. I will begin using it tomorrow morning!
There are some who might complain you are flicking the ball right at them with intentions to hit them.
You should redo this video so we can actually see the effects your teaching about. You only provided half a demonstration in my opinion. I would really like to see the effectiveness.
I realize this is an old video but here are thoughts for older players at least. Lobbing every so often is part of the game but when people lob multiple times per game, and especially when they have been held at the back court by the team that has put the ball deep on them and moved up to the kitchen line, it is because they do not have the skill to execute a drop shot.
It's a great video. The frustration is when you're lower level partner constantly bangs and hangs back. Hitting hard to good players from the mid court is asking for troubles
Three years ago when I started teaching, I told players to keep their head down and watch the ball hit the paddle, especially in learning to serve. It has worked well and I practice it myself. Great Tip.😊
Correct sir 👍👌🙏🙏🙏
