The Madcave
Добавлен 22 авг 2023
Some people have a “man cave” where they go to try to keep sane in life. Well, for me and others, it’s more about the madcave-the place you go to get all the mad out of you. (And that means music, of course.)
On this channel I talk about my favorite hobby, which is the obsessive dabbling in musical instruments-that addictive zone where some of us experience the bliss of musical freedom through improvisation and creativity. I’ll talk about what I'm learning along the way about how to practice most effectively, how to learn instruments from scratch with or without proper teaching, and how to enjoy your musical hobby without under-equipping yourself to have the most positive experience.

A Bunch of Arpeggios & Four Chords (Piano Improv)
I like the sound of basic arpeggios so much that sometimes I just sit down and play quiet arpeggios for ever and ever. Arpeggios are one of the few musical exercises that I think really sound like music (albeit background music) even when played as an exercise (if played musically).

"Peaceful Thoughts on a Rainy Day": Piano Improv over Arpeggios in Ebm
Просмотров 4121 день назад
Flowing-arp style rubato piano improv over an arpeggiated LH chord progression of: Ebm(add6), Ddim, repeat. And then occasionally for flavoring, I switch that Ddim with a D Major for that fresh otherworldly unexpected-major sound. And the melody as sort of an uplifting peaceful sort of thing, and occasionally dipping into chromatic melody bits since I've been practicing my chromatic scales (and...

Came up with this cool melody that felt really good, and then did a bit of a "theme and variation" kind of thing with it.

Hello.... Im planning on buying a roland fp30x, what do you thing about the key action compared with yamaha p225 or casio and the piano sounds?.... Greetings from Nogales México
Hi Nogales! I'm not familiar with the Yamaha/Casio models you mentioned, but the fp30 I have has excellent key action that reminds me of the various acoustic baby grands I've played. Definitely feels like a real piano. The piano sound is also very good, better than most I've tried in the $600-$1400 range, mostly due to the surprisingly good speaker with relatively strong bass. There are als three or four piano sounds to choose from, but I always use the default one. Good luck in your search!
i have one too purchased 4yrs ago but some of the keys detunning
Hi I was interested in purchasing the fp30x. Have u reached out to roland? Were they helpful? Thank u!
yeah i guess idk i'm not even a pianist but that was pretty interresting
Thanks!
Good!
Thanks!
Great stuff. Really encouraging and inspiring for my own ear training/transcription endeavors!
Nice video man, could You do some for an ear training itself? or recommend something for doing so for a self taught?
Thanks! I'll add that to my list for future videos, I'll probably do some kind of little guide to self-teaching ear training. I also talk about ear training a little in my latest video about favorite Android apps.
sounds like a meme
