Welcome to Kathy's Great Big World! My name is Kathy and it's my dream to travel America, in a van, with a dog, living a free and simple life. Rolling down the highways, camping in the forests and sleeping underneath a sugar sky.....so here we go!!! This is the time...the time is now for dreams to come true and this channel is my journey. I am an over 55, solo female minimalist, traveling with my dog, River. We live full-time in a 1999 Ford Econoline Conversion Van and her name is "Alice". Ride along with us as we embrace all the beauty and challenges this "Great Big World" has to offer!

I just spent 2 weeks in Colorado at 8,000’ BLM with temps in the 70’s and afternoon showers…Bliss…but now back in NM with high 90’s. Glad I have a little apartment to wait it out! Fall will be here soon! Glad you are taking care to be smart about travel! I can see that River Loves the AC! 🐾🐾🐾👏👏👏🤗🚐🚐🚐🌈❤️

I watched this earlier today but forgot to comment. Very cool! I have signal where I am tonight. I had a nice fire going but ran out of wood quickly. I bought a couple of little cabinets today and rearranged my van again lol it gets better each time..my bed got a new foam addition so it's finally comfy. It's the little things. 😂 I bought a screen tent for the bugs but I was silly and thought I could put it up alone hahaha not happening and my sister tried to help today but it takes more than 2. So it's dark now but her and her roomie are coming out to help me set it up after he gets off work. Gonna use our headlights lol. My new solar panel gave out on me so I've been without one for over a week sadly. The replacement arrived tomorrow. Only used it 2 weeks before it stopped working. I didn't know if it was the charge controller or the panel but neither worked. Sigh. It has sucked but I've managed to charge my fan battery at a nearby state park shelter house. I can swim.and shower there too for free. Love .y state park pass. Already paid for itself. Happy trails, friend!

@@Kathysgreatbigworld thank you, Kathy! Finally goty.screem tent up with some help earlier. Omg, so nice not to have insects flying around me while I watch some TV on my tablet. I got my solar panel too and have things charging. Doing without one made me realize I won't be able to use solar much here in the winter because there will be weeks we don't see the sun at all. I have a gas generator but no room for it so a cargo hitch may be needed for winter as well as a diesel heater. I'm getting there though. Buying ice sucks but I can deal with it for now. I won't need it in the winter hehehe

I know what you are dealing with. It’s been five week since my beloved Bree has got her wings. My heart is still shattered. I don’t know if I can ever get another four legged love. I would keep the channel but change name. I’m sure you will be full of adventures down the road. Take care.

You have lovely hair! I am letting mine go grey but it's so thin. Nice grocery haul! I'm gonna get some of those Kroger cup veggies. Convenient! I have a feeling I will be eating a lot of grilled cheese and red beans and rice next week..lol I just got the insulation done but my flooring hasn't arrived yet. I took the vinyl planks off I got for free because they moved too much so waiting on peel and stick tiles to come today. I have an appt for my rear shocks on the 17th so I can't finish until then damgit. But I'm going to frame out as much as I can..happy trails!

@@Kathysgreatbigworld so true! There is this dark brown sourdough bread I get at Kroger that starts with an I but the name has slipped my mind..izzio maybe. Anyway, it makes the best grilled grilled but it's 7 bucks but very healthy. Guess what? I have a sink cabinet frame with my counter in it! I almost have the bedframe done..6 more pieces of wood to cut and screw in the rest of the frame and it will just need a top. I had to make my appt for my rear shocks for July 17th so I can screw anything down yet or build anything in the back..so, each piece is movable ATM but I took a drive after I built the sink cabinet and it did not move.. I took the top off one of my fave tables and used as a counter. I haven't got my sink yet but next week. I have pretty much everything out of the appt minus what I'm using and clothes and food. This is my last night here girl, I can't believe it's finally here! Anyhoo, that's my update! I'll be leaving here tomorrow and going to my cousin's and camping out so I can work on the van more. I have to work Monday but I'm so glad because I'm so broke from the build lol happy trails! I'll send pics when get a chance

@@Kathysgreatbigworld thank you! I have literally worked my butt off. I've lost 5 lbs in this heat. Lol I finished off with making a little cabinet for my fridge to sit behind my seat and now I'm hauling what's left of the wood to my cousin's so I can come back and clean up all the sawdust out of the living room! Hahahaha I didn't care I knew I had little time and had to get er done. I am making one trip to my storage unit in the early morning to get some of my stuff to put in the van but most of it is already in my cargo box but my screens and such are in storage. Then I'll head back here to meet my cousin so she can take what furniture she wants then I'm leaving the keys and moving on! No more rent, no more rent! Hallelujah! Hehehe
@@Kathysgreatbigworld oh, my van name is Finley, Finn for short. Finley was my dad's name and without observing him work all those years, I would not have had the courage to do the build. And, I know he was guiding me through the whole thing. Happy trails girl!
