I made this tailgate light bar myself, special thanks to the fine folks over at Optronics for making the awesome STL179RB glo-light and all the other awesome glo-light products, this bar was created, conceived and built by me, using 4 Opronics STL179RB lights, a 8 foot piece of 1 1/2 x 1/2 PVC board and Gorilla Glue clear epoxy (6 packs of it) and some invested time and patience, I love the fin...
STROBES N MORE E48 Arrow Bar (Traffic Advisor) Review
Просмотров 11 тыс.7 лет назад
I recently purchased and installed the Strobes N More E48 Arrow Bar, I chose this traffic advisor over the Lamphus and the Striker because of the features and controller functions, feel free to comment or ask questions, I'll do my best to answer them to the best of my knowledge, if it's something I don't know, I'll tell you I don't know. Yes, I know I said Right when I should've said Left, you ...

    There's a lot going on in that back window. 😂 Thanks for the video, it was helpful!

    Looks like the pattern changed by itself in the middle of the video, or did you do that secretly?? 🤔🤔

      @@tomt.a.5719 looks like it changed from full chase to just full and reset. 🤔 odd.

    I have the same bar am love it. The one thing is the control box is not weather proof the bar is tho. My box got corrosion on the board and failed after 7yrs. I replaced the box and been working great since. I also have the E92 hideaway's in my reverse lights and those are very noticeable

    Hey tom, idk if you’re still active on this but if by chance you do see this. Could you post a video explaining how you mounted the traffic advisor. I’m planning to put one in my 2010 ram and Im hesitant on where to screw it in.

      I don't know if you are installing in a regular cab or a crew cab, but in my crew cab, there were two factory installed coat hooks over the back seat headrests above the rear glass, I simply removed the coat hooks and used those screw locations to attach a sort of vertical bracket that attached to the back of the lights channel bolts, those factory screw mounts, along with a couple of nickel sized flat washers, held the bar in place just fine for me. I hope this helps.

      Tom T.A. It’s gonna be in a Quad Cab… but I get where you’re talking about. Thanks!

    no ABS???

    • @tomt.a.5719
      @tomt.a.5719 5 лет назад

      No, ABS was disabled years ago when it started getting false signals from play in the rear differential causing it to activate almost every time brakes were applied and the truck downshifted.

    Would this be good to mount outside of the vehicle? Wondering how it does with moisture and rain. I see Scott's comment but wondering if they've done any updates to the housing seals to prevent his issue of moisture getting in.

      None that I'm aware of, the bar as it stands with me, I don't feel would do well being exposed to the elements, I suppose if one were to silicone it up neatly and properly, it could probably be made to survive outside.

    Make a video of the front setup

      Front of what set up? I have a set of visor lights and I have the turtle flasher installed that makes all the body light flash, but not really anything special.

    do you have a picture of the connector and is a connector included with the control head when purchased, thanks

    • @tomt.a.5719
      @tomt.a.5719 6 лет назад

      No, sorry I don't have an image of the 9 pin plug, but yes, it does come with the plug connector, they also offer an extension cable to increase the distance from the control head to the arrow light itself, I recommend purchasing it if you have more than 10 feet you need to reach from with the control cable.

    does the controller come with the arrow bar?

    • @tomt.a.5719
      @tomt.a.5719 7 лет назад

      Yes, the unit comes with the controller, they offer an additional controller should you ever need to order one. I highly recommend getting the extension cable they offer as I barely had enough cable to make it from the rear window to the center console of a crew cab pick up.

      thanks for your reply. I just ordered the setup and cant wait to get it. do you think you could do a quick video on how you hooked everything up? I'm sure its strait forward. mainly just hooking up to the power source. I will be installing it on a commercial size truck that has dual battery's. just would like to know if installation would be any different. just connect red wire to positive on one battery and ground the black wire...right?

      Congratulations on your purchase, I'm certain you'll love the light output it has. Yes, it's a very straight forward wiring hook up, just 12 volt power to red and ground to black, I hooked mine up using a cigarette lighter plug to a high amp socket bank I installed (40A) mainly because I already had it there and it was the path of least installation time, it has a very low current draw, I would recommend running at least 2 wire gauges over what the controller comes wired with if you're planning to go over any distance greater than 6 feet to get your power. Hope this information helps you when installing your new E48 traffic advisor.
