Jason Cook is a Franco-American artist and designer living in France. Since 2005, following his studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he has traveled and worked with many artists using new technology as an expressive medium in New Orleans and Chicago (US), Montreal (CA), Normandy, Occitanie, Pyrenees, Provence and Paris (FR). The principal motivation of his projects, independent or collaborative, is the potential of working with movement, kinetic behaviors and animation in general. Robotics, mechanics, programming and custom electronics are the basis of his skillset in practices of experimentation, development and production.

Made for the SOFTMACHINE Studio. In the fall of 2017 I began work with the school of fine arts in the Pyrenees (FR). With a minimal budget I put in place a fully functional environment for prototype experimentation of art and technology. The featured video presents the entry of the studio. The materials used here where harvested from retired machinery stocked away in a media closet at the schoo...

Super cool I've never seen LED filaments this long. Any chance you'd be willing to provide to distributor you bought these from?
I don’t get it but it’s cool. I’m not a big modern art person, and I don’t really get how some stuff is considered art, but I still think it’s really cool to look at, but I guess that’s kind of the point of art, so it is art? Idk
@darkfantasyenjoyer-b2k Thanks for your comment. For the record, There's a lot of contemporary art that I find ridiculous, pointless, pretentious... I'm a creator and I enjoy using electronics as my medium. I am inspired by my ideas, I wish to share them and I hope I inspire others. To be able to make a living and do what I love, I am obliged to play the art gallery game. The art market is a beast in itself, and it is not often creators who are declaring what is art, but rather the collectors and those managing the market. It is important to keep this in mind. Thanks again for your comment!
Cool :D Btw as a high schooler looking to try to get into electronics more, where would you suggest I start? There’s no classes at my school, and all of the art stuff is stuff I’ve known how to do since 5th grade.
@@darkfantasyenjoyer-b2k That's cool! I would suggest getting a classic Arduino Uno Kit for starters. There are masses of tutorials online for learning to use this. But take it step by step! Maybe throw on some Deftones for general inspiration. There's also the Raspberry Pi, but this is a higher learning curve. Learning Linux is great however, and it's free :) There's the ESP32 with all it's variations, very cool (and crazy cheap), but probably best to start with classic Arduino before touching this. So those are the three platforms I generally use in my own work. They all have tons of resources online. For learning more about artists using this stuff, that subject's is a bit too vast to explain in a youtube comment; you are free to follow my instagram and discover here the artists I personally follow: @jasoncook.fr
Notes taken :) I’ll get back to you in a few years assuming I’m not dead and I’ll update you on my progress. Thanks!
Might be the lighting and the sound, but this somehow really reminds me of FNAF.
Das is cool
This is fantastic
I definitely hate this.

Did you hear the Good News? Jesus, the Son of God, loves us so much that He died for our sins. He was crucified, then resurrected. Jesus conquered death and has overcome the world! With His sacrifice, we can live forever in Heaven with Him in eternal happiness! Follow Jesus, repent, and live forever! - If you want to learn more about the Good News, check out the Books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John of the New Testament of the Holy Bible.
You have some very cool kinetic art
Ive always loved kinetic art. Its so much more interactive
I thought the solenoid was causing the light to be very unstable until I was told this was a work of art
Cool stuff bro keep it up
I dunno I thought it was kinda cool
slightly better than a retro-encabulator
welcome to modern art, soulless, dystopian, meaningless
@japan-fladres1078 , I'm supposing you are not an artist, not a creator, for starters. Second, this is not modern art. As rather a contemporary artwork, it is expressing precisely the frustration of mechanical conformism, this which one may consider soulless, dystopian, meaningless. Please do your research before making incendiary commentaries Mr Flanders. Feel free to peruse my website to learn more : jasoncook.fr

don't know what SCP means. yes, it's from 2015. The description clearly states it is an archive video. If you want to see recent works, feel free to browse my channel or visit my website jasoncook.fr
@@jasoncook-fr scp stands for secure contain protect and it's a made up organization that people on the internet make up monster for. I don't really understand why people get so into it, but yea it's basically obscure monster type figures that people create and say its "scp"
No, I know that..
Why is everyone in the comments so negative? This is pretty neat!
Thanks @Blu3Jao. I think some people are upset that youtube is suddenly promoting my videos. I didn't pay for sponsoring. It just happened. I'm okay with it. But some people may be jealous I suppose. It's the only conclusion that makes sense to me.
@jasoncook-fr So it goes! I was recommended this out of the blue as well, but I'm excited to what structures you create.
