The steel is China made 7cr17mov/440a (slightly composition difference between 7cr17mov and 440a but it's close enough that it doesn't matter) so more than fair for the 10 dollar price point. I make knives so I have testing equipment, I did a rockwell test on my imp22 large and small and both was in the 55.x Rockwell C and that's right at what case runs their Tru-sharp stainless at and edge retention on card board cut tests has been about identical between the two. Both low performing steels but case has heritage and imperial schrade is just now another cheap China brand but performance is basically the same between them, you will get a little more edge retention from case CV steel and a little less from their carbon steel but the difference won't be enough to notice in use, only in a, single cutting media cut test would you be able to find a, difference... The difference will be maybe 7-10% more liner feet of card board being cut while, maintaining a clean paper slicing edge.. Something like 60 feet for the 7cr or Tru sharp stainless and 70-75 feet for the CV and maybe 50 feet for the carbon. The CV and carbon will absolutely touch up and resharpen quicker and with a stickier edge than the stainless will if you care about in the field touchups or sharpening but it's not really that much of a difference there neither as the heat treat quality on any of them is decent at best so the sharpening experience isn't gonna be anything to write home about with any of them but for most people the edge retention will be sufficient and the ease of sharpening will make for a perfectly serviceable low cost steel. I do wish they would make these old Imp22 models in 1080 or 1095 carbon but that's not gonna happen, I own a couple sod buster and sod buster Jr's as well as, 2 GEC Bull nose and 1 bull buster that I have made modern powder steel blades for, like my sods with cpm 440v blades that I made around 10-11 years ago. I actually just repinned them this morning with new hap72 blades that was cryo treated with a target of 67rc that I made for them last week. I'm all for the traditional models but not the traditional steels, got two deer hanging that's been aging 4 days now that will be cleaned and broken down today with those new hap72 blades to start their patinas!

I love mine. The set up for me is the 4' 6" ultra lite with piscifun viper x 1000. With three boys on the boat the shorter rods help and we still get good enugh distance casting. Also vary light setup.

I have a few ugly stiks and one of the Lite Pro’s in 6’ medium. I have it paired with a Daiwa Regal 3000, and it’s my favorite combo by far. Check my page to see the fish we’re catching on it. Can’t beat the Lite Pro for $40

Great review video, I have been using Ugly Stik rods for a bout 40 years and I have found that if you add a one inch rubber chair guard (cap), and put a few quarters in it, it balances the rods out more and makes them so that they are not as top heavy. I usually also wrap the rubber cap with some hockey grip tape to help keep it on. You should try it out and see if it help you out. There are a few videos of how it is done here on YT, in case you would like to see how it is done.

Well John, just to let you know that I bought a 10 foot pond prowler. After watching your videos I realized this was the way to go to use in a small lake and ponds around me. I also built a small battery box for my Garmin striker 4, I appreciate your videos, as like you I just like to pan fish and I'm all about Walmart. glad to see my fellow man getting out there and enjoying the outdoors. i have a 19ft triton bass boat but my buddy has this exact boat. We are fortunate to have access to a lot of private ponds we fish out of his boat. When he first got it i thought it was a silly playschool boat but man have we fished the heck out of that little boat. im a hook setter and mostly stand when i fish, ive caught thousands of bass in that little boat and it does great. we have never flipped it, knock on wood. take care of yourself partner, best of luck

I prefer white over clear as you can see it is all around. With clear you not always see if sealed fully.

John, I have a inflatable boat called a Zonker. 7' long, twin pontoons and I drive it with a 45lb thrust Minn Kota. I didn't see your links for sources of the components. Our motor has a max amp draw of 42 amps but I'd figure 50amps. Several PWM on Amazon but I can't seem to find the box. Also, have you ever used a 12v fan set up to dispell the heat? Our controller box will sit inside a canvas bag 12"w X 12" H X 30" long. Any comment would be appreciated. Thanks

I agree 100%! Give me an ultra light or light action rod, a good spinning reel loaded with 2 or 4 lb test and I'm ready. Box of crickets or meal worms is all you need. My tackle box has an assortment of cricket hooks, corks, some Rooster Tails, Panther Martins and a bunch of Rebel u/l crank baits and jerk baits. That makes for a great day! Like Henry David Thoreau said, "Many men go fishing all their lives without knowing it is not the fish they are after." I too am a recovering bass angler. Thank you for the video.

If the only way a person can catch fish is by using a live scope their not much of a fisherman, their a video expert. There are times I'll turn on my sonar unit and only use it for the GPS if I'm on a new lake and never see the other screens....

Lews rods are terrible there reels ain’t too good either there nowhere near ugly stick I don’t care if my shoulder went completely out I’d still go with ugly stick and how is it unbalanced I don’t u destined how the fishing rod is unbalanced specially that small of a rod
