Rory, I’m glad you enjoyed Koh Phayam. Kind of wondering about how you picked Flower Power and got that rate though, mate! First, Thais do also vacation on Koh Phayam, but THEY typically go for the higher end experience, such as at Blue Sky resort, for like +4250 baht (125usd, 190aud) per night. However, we foreigners typically visit Koh Phayam for the super laid back, mostly hustle-bustle and tourist-free get-away experience of amazing island and its beaches - as you and your buddy have, granted. But also for the rustic, cheap as s accommodation experience too! For example, beach front, rustic resorts are all over KP with over-bed or moveable fans, own toilet and shower, no hot water, lights and power outlets for like 250-350 baht a night! (12-16 aud/ 7.50-11 usd and sleep just fine. Hell, I’m seeing even Flower Power online now for 355 baht/ night (16aus/10usd)! So how is it you’re paying $30 a night and at flower power, dude? Regardless, at going forex, that’s like 670-1030 thb/ night BEFORE the extra 8hrs AC for 160 baht. And btw, they’ve positioned that single fan in that big room to promote the AC add on charges, for sure. But you won’t get those rustic bungalow prices on agoada, etc. Instead, check them out on g maps and contact bungalow resorts directly. Or better yet, book 1 night someplace, rent a scooter (best way to explore KP, about $6-8) and tour around for where you like best, and offer like 250-350/ night for 4 nights or more. All that being said, looks like you enjoyed yourselves, which matters most.👍

You would think as prosperous as Australia has been since the War, the Government could spring for a more Glorious Memorial than that for the Heroic Defenders of Darwin!?!?!

Dili is not really beautiful. The other places are more beautiful than Dili . The problem is tourism sector is not well developed. Flight from Bali to Dili and Darwin to Dili is very expensive. Hotel and foods are very expensive too compared to Thailand , Bali or any Asian countries. There is no evening entertainment like you see in Thailand, Vietnam or Bali . So with this limitation tourist don't want to visit East Timor.

This is not correct information, the main administration building of the original hospital has been owned by Adelaide Film Studios since around 2008, connecting to the modern building at the back for production film purposes. The building you showed next to the women's E Ward is not Z Ward. If you look on a map, Z Ward is the next block directly behind the main building. This place wasn't home to 'crazies', they were real people.
