Happy Birthday to my husband with memories from when we started dating to today.
I've been using the sewing machine drawers in the kitchen for cutlery. they're useful for so many things.
That is a fabulous idea!! I would not have thought of that, as I use a hutch with drawers for additional cutlery & cooking tools. It must give your home a very warm country feel!!
Yes, when we go grocery shopping, we notice that the same items we typically buy slowly increase in price. The main grocery store that we go to has an app that allows us to clip coupons and earn points. What’s nice is that if we accumulate enough points, we can have up to $20 off the total. It’s not much but every bit helps. The only downside imo is that the points expire if not used within a certain time frame. In order for points not to expire , we have to pay a monthly fee for an upgraded membership through the app. As others might see it, we have to pay to save on groceries. Including myself, I see more and more people wanting to buy land big enough to grow their own food and become more self sufficient. I try to support local farms and businesses as much as I can. Unfortunately, there are certain items that are needed from the grocery store. I understand that not “much” land is needed to grow food. It’s just sad that (farm) lands are being destroyed or sold. There’s a town not far from us that was mainly farmland. Now, there are multiple shopping centers, townhouses, apartments, and warehouses. The locals say the town is hardly recognizable. I’m not a conspiracy theorist but I do listen to most opinions and thoughts with an open mind. It truly does seem as if certain groups are intentionally trying to make it hard for people to become self sufficient. Your videos are honest and so helpful, Laura. You inspire me to do more on my own, be extra mindful and how to be more frugal.
Whew 😅 long comment. Sorry for any grammar errors!
We both are seeing the same where we live. I did end up going to Aldi''s this morning and found some cranberries on sale for 99c (purchased 4 and will go back next week), and picked up the avocado's for 69c each, far better than the grocery store that sells them for around $1.50. It saddens me that our small towns are turning into little cities losing the country charm. I used to shop at Shaw's that had points as well, or one could only get the sale price if one had the card. If I see items on sale, b/c I know I will be going into town (which is quite rare, maybe 2x a year) I will check the app. Yes, points do tend to expire. 😔 I do hope to soon have the ability to grow all our fruits and veggies at another property one day in the near future, but I will be thankful for the farmers that are working hard to keep us fed for things we do not grow. I have such a hard time purchasing produce at the grocery store, as I have obtained some really yucky stuff.
@@NatureOfShy LOL...no problem... I love reading msg from. you.

I had salmon and home grown Napa Cabbage.
That sounds lovely!! Salmon is one of my favorite seafoods. Love it in salad, love it sautéed, and baked. Napa Cabbage is also delicious.

Nice seasonal recipe👍
Thank you!! 😊 It is nice to use the flavors of fall.
Very nice dinner Laura, Excellent meal!
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Can’t comprehend why creators have to be surrounded by more stuff than they could POSSIBLY use in their lifetime😱. Our brains are just wired differently I guess. It would totally overwhelm me and I would freeze up and shut the door! 😂🤣TFS!
I can appreciate your response. What you might not understand is that I ran a sewing business for over 20 years, where much was added to accommodate the various things that I made and sold, where what was a common request (baby blankets), doll clothing, replica bridal gowns, and much more, along w/alterations. It is inefficient to run to the store every time one needs thread, fabric, etc. During 2020, lots were happening. Add in the inheritance from my MIL quilt items, etc. it built in addition to when I was sick for a time and no energy to create. After filling orders in 2020, I finally stopped creating custom orders based on the fabric requests of others. I made it a requirement that they provide the materials. I think sometimes we need to step outside our view of what is too much to understand why another has/uses what they have. In ref. to the brain chemistry, you are correct. We all experience varying things in life that might open our creative minds. Some of us become overzealous, while others can only handle one project at a time. Interesting though, I have had no desire to buy anything new in 4 years, and my health is doing better, so the creative energy will be utilized, allowing myself to use these items up. Will I use it all up in this lifetime? Who knows. I do know that I enjoyed the process of getting rid of all materials/items I know I will never use, tons of patterns, etc. I went through the process of asking myself, what my goals were, and what I find joy in working with. Over time, this room will get lighter and lighter, with less items (less overwhelming), while fortunately the only room that might overwhelm you. Thank you for taking the time to share your views. 😊
Oh I totally get it! I watch tons of creator YT vids. When I retired I wanted so badly to become a creative person. I started and couldn’t handle it. I kept a few things for “someday” but it’s stored neatly and I hate making a mess when I bring things out! All I can handle now is occasional mending. I envy you creative folks with dedicated spaces!
Hi Laura! It’s been a while. So glad to catch up on your videos ❤
Good morning Shy!! It is so nice to see you here. ❤🤗
I just donated a lot. Now I have my projects lined up. I kept my pattern books/magazines because I like to read them. Yes, too much holds us back. Just can’t find anything. Jars are good because you can see what you have. I think you did great!
Thank you. It was hard at first, but once I made the decision to downsize, it got easier and I felt more free. I enjoy reading my books and magazines as well. It allows our imagination to explore new ideas, even if the ideas are from days gone by. Thank you for watching!!
We creative folk need things to create with. And for me, those things inspire me & bring me joy. Thx for the vid & for showing us your wonderful space 🤩💛
Thank you for sharing. I am so happy you enjoyed it. I have to admit, there are some things I still kept, b/c of what I am inspired to make. 🥰
Hubby corrected me...the desk is a secretary desk where the open unit was for the heavy duty typewriters that were once used. They had it long before I started dating (1976) David. Just a short time ago. Buttons, buttons, buttons...when a worn out item is tossed, I will keep the buttons, as buttons are expensive.
Looks like I need to figure out why it freezes up on me once uploaded....such the techie I am not... but skip a minute forward once that happens (if it happens to you) and the music begins to see the various photo's with descriptions. Enjoy!!
👍
Just started dehydrating recently and started some zucchini and crookneck yesterday. Still got a lot more to dehydrate. Thank you for your video. Gonna do my next round just like you did.
I hope you are pleased with the results.!! Enjoy the process.
@@potpourrioflife I will, gonna learn from it. Kinda swamped at the moment but gonna checkout your veggie broth video you mentioned here soon. Did some the other day and while it smelled and tasted good, it had a slight bitterness to it. Added a bit of sugar to help but ended up combining it with my chicken broth and the bitterness wasn't noticable and saved the day.

Thank you so much for this information. So much info I had no idea. You have saved me from a lot of headaches.
It is a tricky business. Real Estate Agents are not fond of them at all, more so b/c they know how manipulative them are. There are very few Real Estate lawyers who specialize in this field. Best wishes on your decision in moving forward with your choices. ❤
Wow, thank you for this information I have about 6 bushes, and this is the first year of me experimenting with them, I was trying to make a lilac salve, forgot about it when I went camping, came home to it starting to mold😭, gosh darn it, will try again next year🤦♀️ Excellent tips on how to dry it though, I'll definitely be doing all these things with my lilacs next season, I had no idea that we could do so much with them, thank you so much🙏
You are welcome. I'm so sorry the lilacs that blossom ended up pass their prime. Next spring will be here before you know it. Happy Gardening & preserving

I'm not sure why it is freezing in two spots in the video, but it comes back. YT issue? Not sure, but it does pick up within a short time. I am dealing w/some brain fog, so a few of my words are mixed up...such as the "ruler" which is actually the "level". He shows grace when he corrects me. 🤷♀

Thank you. Your comment warmed my heart (made me smile). I love the term "whimsy". 🥰
Amazing variety of Lilacs. I did not realise there were so many colours.
It is rather a lovely flowering tree. I believe we have 4-5 varieties but I found that there are around 200 cultivated varieties.
Thanks for putting this out there have a blessed day😊
Thank you. Enjoy this beautiful day!! Blessings to you.
😊👍
Nice 👍
Patience required! 👌
For the waffle maker - plug it in and then set it to the temp you want. When the green light comes on, you put in your "batter". I cook mine about 4 minutes or until it stops steaming. I hope this helps. I'm on a KETO/Carnivore way of eating and Chaffles are a staple as a bread replacement for sandwiches, burgers or wraps. I've used this batter and spread it in a small frying pan to make a wrap.
Awesome!!! Thank you for your help. As you saw, I kept checking. But now...I can do 4 min. once the light is on. David generally does pancakes, as I never liked cooking on the griddle. But this is small and fun.
@@potpourrioflife You're welcome! You will find the sweet spot (Temperature) that makes your chaffles a little doughy or nice and crisp!

Hi, where in NH did you get your Maple syrup? I am originally from NH and used to get mine in Lempster, but last time I visited they didn't have anymore.
I got mine at Marston's Farm in Pittsfield, where I also get my raw milk. Sometimes I get bacon, beef cuts, etc. They carry eggs as well. There are other farms in Pittsfield and in the Concord area. Call ahead when you think you are visiting, to any of the farms, I'm sure they will hold for you, or possibly ship (yet that might be pricey).
