Idk why, but this song defines academia. I’m in college, a PhD student. Have been in academia at a large state school for 6 years now. Every time I walk on a cold, windy fall evening from the library to my apartment, I feel like this song resonates with my life. It makes me feel that I’m an academic spending time on important research and getting home to have a glass of scotch by the fireplace and winding down by reading papers and books by other scientists in my field

It’s like this song makes me think about the future and the past at the same time. Missed opportunities, ones I took advantage of, pain, lessons, growth. And in a way it ties in my future, what’s to come, how I’ve grown from innocent to flawed, what that means for me, if it’s too late to…well to not lose myself. This song is contemplation.

Stumbled on this song tonight and low and behold, it's a rainy night. Probably just a coincidence. Or maybe it's just perfect timing for the mood I'm feeling. Tomorrow they will be enforcing a vaccine passport in my hometown of Toronto, Canada. And although I knew this day was coming way back when this whole scamdemic began I still can't believe it's here.
