Baldwins grands have such a strong lower mid range!
So beautiful!
A3 hands down the winner. The O sounds “plinky”.
The O hammers are a bit too bright, too much edge on the tone making it sound “plinky.” I have a rebuilt 1914 O which sounded a bit like this before fine voicing. New York Steinway hammers, not Renner, in my case. It’s possible too that the A3 here may have been voiced more than his O. There are so many variables. The A3 at 6’4.5” will always have a richer sound than a 5’10.5” regardless. That is always reflected in the huge price difference between the models.
