Practice the “Yes, and” conversation
Instead of immediately agreeing to requests on everyone else’s terms, think about how to create mutually agreeable terms. I’ve found that, most of the time, people are receptive to compromise. As client-centric service providers, we want to be as accommodating as reasonably possible. We also need to be able to manage our business without constantly blowing up our priorities. So practice the “Yes, and.” “Yes, I would love to help you with that. May I review your problem and respond to you tomorrow?” Shifting our mindset to “Yes, and” helps us see that we can be good advocates AND not make ourselves crazy in the process. Also, if you have a good relationship with your clients, and they know...

Reclaim time and tame your files
Просмотров 719 часов назад
“Where did I put that?” is one of the most dreaded questions. Ever. Various reports claim that we spend up to 20% of our time searching for stuff, especially files, documents, and other needed information. Imagine reclaiming that time and putting it to other uses! To keep things clear and simple, be as consistent as possible with how you label your files. I find the date-description system to b...
Wiggle room is essential!

Between the holidays and finishing out the year’s goals, time gets even tighter in the fourth quarter. This month we’re diving into ways to save and manage your time (insert deep breath here!). 😌 Packing your day to the minute with endless tasks and appointments is setting yourself up for a lot of stress. Use daily and/or weekly gaps in your calendar for the unforeseen. Personally, I set aside ...
Invite a business owner or leader you respect to lunch
Просмотров 1021 день назад
Aim for doing this once or twice a month. Leveraged learning is powerful, inspiring, and can save you a ton of time and money (certainly worth the price of lunch). Chances are there is someone in your community who has achieved a level of success you’re striving for. Chances also are that you might be able to avoid a costly lesson they’ve already learned. I’ve found the majority of fellow busin...
Have new employees document precise notes during training
Просмотров 728 дней назад
Not only will your new employee better retain the information, they will be creating (or updating) the documentation you need in order to systematize your business. It also will impress upon them that your company takes procedures seriously; make it easier to cross train another employee; and build a culture of self-accountability. Additionally, employees who value learning and find ways to imp...
Lead a morning huddle
Просмотров 4Месяц назад
A focused 15-minute huddle in the morning helps you and your staff act on what’s most important that day: a deadline, a goal, a particular customer or project. A few words of advice to make this effective. 1)This is an opportunity to foster a team environment, so don’t lead the huddle all the time. Take turns and involve others. 2) To keep the meeting moving along, invite them to schedule addit...
Get the right tushes in the right seats

Employees are both incredibly expensive and an amazing resource to you and your customers. Align their talents with your business’ and clients’ needs and give them the time and space to explore ideas. Among other things, this approach will greatly reduce office drama, increase productivity, increase employee retention, and generally create a much happier work environment. As with sports, you’re...
Trusts Protect Your Legacy and Guide You Through Emergencies
Просмотров 8Месяц назад
Sadly, a client of mine died unexpectedly two years ago. I really enjoyed working with him - he was tough, smart, stubborn, and had a big soft spot for his friends and family. I still miss him very much. I also respect that - with typical thoroughness - he had done extensive estate planning, including a trust. Upon his passing, his designated executor worked with his management team to make sur...
Emergency Planning
Просмотров 4Месяц назад
I learned only last year that a power of attorney is no longer valid after death. This isn’t to say you shouldn’t have one - not everything unforeseen ends in death, thank goodness. POAs will help your designated agent make payroll and pay bills while you recuperate from illness, etc. It also means that more extensive estate planning is in order if you own a business, so it’s as easy as possibl...
Legacy or Emergency, Partnership Agreements Are a Must
Просмотров 42 месяца назад
If you’re in a partnership, you need an agreement that spells out the roles, rights, and responsibilities of the partners. You also need to be in agreement about what happens if a partner wants to voluntarily step away; the conditions for a partner’s removal; or what happens in the event of a partner’s death. If a partner wants to retire or leave for any reason, what’s the process for the buyou...
Imagining Your Legacy

There are lots of different ways to think about your legacy. Maybe it’s the impact that your company has on your community or clients’ lives. Maybe you want to hand your business down to family members. Maybe you envision an employee buyout that keeps the business moving forward. (One of my clients sold her business to an employee, who then grew the business and took on two partners - very cool...
ROI: How’s your profitability so far?
Просмотров 82 месяца назад
At this point, you have a full 6 months of financial data at your fingertips. Where are your gross sales, expenses, and profits at relative to your 2024 goals? Where have you exceeded expectations? How can you capitalize on and continue positive trends? Where has the company’s financial performance fallen short? What is within your control, and what is your plan to correct it? Collecting and an...
ROI: Why bother to track it?
Просмотров 32 месяца назад
In the face of the zillion other things you have to do as an entrepreneur, it’s easy to look at your financials and think, “I’ll get around to that this weekend. Maybe.” Often, if it isn’t on fire, it doesn’t get attention. But, think of neglected numbers as kindling. They might not be burning now, but it probably wouldn’t take much to ignite them. Better not to wind up burning through your mon...
ROI: How do you calculate it (sometimes there are intangibles!)
Просмотров 93 месяца назад
You can figure ROI by dividing your net gain by an investment’s cost. For example, let’s say you invested $1,000 in a social media ad campaign, and after 3 months you made $1,500 in profits. Your ROI would be 1.5 or 50%. That’s easy enough to do if you a) know what you’ve spent and b) track your sources of business. But, what about the intangibles? In addition to revenue, some of our investment...
ROI: What is it?
Просмотров 273 месяца назад
Return on Investment compares the amount of money you spend on an effort with the amount of revenue you gain from it. This is especially important to track for our marketing efforts. When asked where all their money goes, many small business owners reply “I’m honestly not sure.” Given the number of hats entrepreneurs wear, I completely understand the juggling act. Just make sure your profits ar...

Excellent point! Balancing cash reserves with investing in growth and marketing is crucial, especially after Covid.
Great reminder, Stephanie! Mid-year check-up, here I come!
I'm glad that helped!
Excellent video
Thank you!
❤
Yes! The "yes...and" conversation is both frequently effective and frequently underused. I'm glad to hear healthy boundaries are working for you! 😊
Great video! As a solid Gen X'er, I have been having lots of conversations with myself about this ingrained notions! And it's true! My wonerful clients do not wish me to compromise my health or family time to help them bring hummingbirds to their yards, LOL, that is ridiculous! They just want to know that they will get the first available opening I have.

This is question is so important because it's basically evaluates communication in the organization, especially from leaders to their reports. Good leaders communicate well.
And a great leader reads good articles and shares information with their wife! Thanks for showing me this survey -- it's a game changer!

just got treated to an assessment after getting hired. it came from Paradox Traitify. conclusion: Contemplator supporting info followed that label and was a good fit. Thought maybe their short mp4 'contemplator' video would be parroted on youtube, (and i would then find other personality types videos, with which to arm myself for some social whatever situation) but after hearing your video and agreeing with it... I have no more curiosity about any of this so Thank You much and bye for now! 😄
Ha! This was a good one! It's funny hearing this because the C thinks he's brainstorming and collaborating with a partner to perfect a plan while the I/D thinks that we're "debating! Lol! Love you, honey!
Love you too! ❤️ I think we're both more aware that I/Ds are usually less concerned with the perfect plan and more interested in getting things moving, seeing how they're starting to shape up, and tweaking as they go. Being in motion is how we gather our data. S/Cs gather on the front end. One side of the scale can be too hasty, the other side can get paralyzed. That's why you and I are such a good team! 🥰
This is a HUGE time saver. Thanks a lot for the quick and informative tutorial Stephanie! Hope you have a wonderful week. :)
Thank you Gabriel, glad it was helpful! ☺
nice video, what did you said in 1:24 ?

I love your channel and your inspiring videos. You should research Promo-SM.
Thanks for your feedback 🙂
Great tips as always! Love that gardening recharge....Me too! I've been trying to capitalize on being in my garden between 1 - 3 pm on these winter days, when the temperature is tolerable and before the dreaded darkness. Solstice is almost here! Happy holidays!
Good idea - I'm going to try a little gardening in the late afternoon. I miss my early, sunny Summer mornings in the garden!
Which one, lol! Taking two big ones I'm 2023- Italy-Greece and Israel. So excited!
Fantastic! Enjoy!!
This is great! I needed to hear this. Thank you.
You're welcome! You give a lot to others -- make sure you're on your own list. 😉

Yes! Hiring or outsourcing to your challenges is so important. I see so many people having their payroll run them instead of them running their business. These are great tips and tricks. Thank you Stephanie.

Si Se Puede! Great Advice. Thanks Steph!
Thank you Brittni! :-)

I'm so glad you enjoyed this series! Thank you!! We should have D/I happy hour sometime. :-)
That is super cool. Love it. I have been doing FB lives lately and having a harder time coming up with what I wanted to say. Yet, I do agree with you that when I write it sounds more formal. I am excited to try it. Thanks so much for this!
This is becoming my new favorite tool for brainstorming! :)
What a brilliant find, Steph! Ever since my accident and the subsequent nerve damage in my hand, typing has been slow going. I have an article to write, so this is perfect timing. Thanks so much!
I'm so glad you found this helpful! I've been finding ways to use this feature more -- it's super handy (so to speak). Heal fast my friend!
Love this message! I didn't know that about how Ella started scatting, but how brilliant that you tied it into entrepreneurship.
I'm always so impressed when I hear the story of someone who improvised under pressure, and it somehow becomes a defining moment for them in a positive way. So glad you liked the story!
Great video! I received my disc is assessment, yesterday it was amazing. I truly can see myself now!!
It's such a great tool for personal and professional development. I'm glad you've found it useful!
