I liked it a lot but two didn't listen to the complete song, so I looked for it at home. Three months and it's still my favorite <3

I think in retrospect Ichikawa's early behavior did make sense. In ep 9 of season 1 we learned about his mindset "If I can't have it, I'll tell myself that I hate it" He wanted to be part of the class, he wanted to have friends but because his hobbies and interests were weird he got rejected and he started to tell himself that he hates everyone. He thought that Yamada, the most popular girl, was an arrogant girl who was looking down on him until he got to know her better. She's weird and cringe just as much as he is but she's also friendly and down to earth. In episode 3, his wish of seeing her hurt and bleed was fulfilled when she got hit with the basketball but what did he do then? Instead of celebrating he got worried about her well being and he even started crying for her when he saw her in pain. At this point he can't lie to himself anymore that he wants to see her dead that's why he drops his murder fantasies. The start of the series if definitely rough for many viewers but even those episodes had some interesting moments. I thought that Ichikawa's behavior was weird but interesting as his thoughts and actions did not lign up. As someone who judges people more based on their actions rather than their words it was pretty clear that he wouldn't be able to hurt anyone and that he was just confused at this point. I'm happy that it's getting the recognition it deserves now since it's become my all time favorite romance/coming of age story.

To grow, you need a base. Having the contrast of his chunni-ness to now shows his growth and reflection as he grew. Beside, like you said, kids are fuckin weird

6:45 Ichikawa is not dense like Kobayashi, he knows what's going on but he's just in denial because of his inferiority complex. But yeah, the series' main selling point is the gradual, yet realistic character development of the main characters. The cringe factor, on the other hand, is actually tolerable since middle school is basically the cringiest phase for everyone. This series is also the top airing Winter 2024 (Excluding continuing series like Frieren) anime on MAL with a rating of 8.82 and is now on 30th spot on the site's Top Anime list. And it's also currently on an undefeated streak in other anime sites like Anime Corner and Anime Trending, holding the #1 spot for 9 weeks straight.

I've gone through most of the manga and the what most people dislike about it mostly true The theme (also the bait) of his delusions of killing someone goes away immediately a couple of chapters in after it starts off a blank state of the rom-com path (the switch) It does it in a extremely stupid way with no nuance or any hints that he just might be a dumb kid not knowing how to deal with what he's feeling If that part was more detailed, which again, the manga doesn't attempt which is why it translated to poorly into the adaptation, I think the show would have been received much better Despite all that the rest of it is mostly the usual rom-com with each character having 2 or 3 character traits and it barely goes deeper beyond that but it stays wholesome, no unnecessary drama However, the very direct over sexualization of the main girl, is very ...Japan, and whatever you see in the anime, the manga does it tenfold, cover art panels especially and I hate the fact that very few people point that out I get that we're going with the flow when it comes to other "cultures" (without going to deep into this) but it's appalling, a middle schooler strung up in sexy poses and of course with the body of 20yo just for more clicks and views and bait the lowliest of otakus. I wish people were more sensitive about this, even if it's a weeb's wish fulfillment it does more damage than good

As a Haikyuu character, Ennoshita is severely underrated. When Daichi was taken out after getting an injury, Ennoshita showed he was just as capable a leader in high stress, high stakes situations. He did all he could and he was partly rewarded with Karasuno winning the game.

I can’t believe how much this anime has stuck with me. And I appreciate that you made sure to highlight Yuki stepping up in the Hakone Ekiden, because that was huge. From being so opposed to being on the running team to analyzing things to the extreme to being so worked up to his mother rooting him on. He was my favorite for sure. (And I didn’t even mention his hair and glasses!!❤)

Chiisana Koi no Uta is originally from Mongol 800 and it's one of the most popular song from Japan during 2001 to 2005. It was used as one of the main theme song of Proposal Daisakusen (Operation Love) J-Drama. Highly recommended show if you want some wholesome story.
